  1. Soooooo..the Ravens are a 5-11 team (i.e- they suck) AND a WC challenger (i.e - they don't suck)?
  2. Full disclosure I, I'm a big Mets fan. Full disclosure II, I don't expect Tebow to make it as a MLB player. Tebow was an intriguing NFLer. Had some big moments that made me wonder if he had the "it" factor but had a far greater suck factor. But I never questioned his desire or effort or that his beliefs were an on-field detriment (although a huge off-field distraction from the fan/hater perspective). I have no problem with the Mets signing him. They're in the midst of an (unlikely) playoff drive so nobody will care about him until spring training...assuming he's still around in February. And I'm not buying into 20+ teams checking in on his work-out and the signing being a publicity stunt in September when the team is alive and well! The Mets are taking a flyer on a guy with some level of talent and a ton of heart and I don't see the risk. This is not the NFL where he's taking up a roster spot.
  3. Wish it were so, but the b!tch will be back after four games. I'm not content hoping the suspension will doom them this year or biding my days waiting for the b!tch to retire. We need to accelerate and be the benefactors of the downfall! Go Bills!
  4. At the height of the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry (I'm a Mets fan) there were guys hawking Yankee bashing t-shirts outside Fenway. Most were variations on the Jeter s*cks theme, but I laughed out loud and almost bought one directed at Posada which feels right with a slight change: Brady is a little b!tch. Yeah, I'd buy that.
  5. So my question is how do we leverage voter fraud to elect the third candidate that I keep waiting for? And more to the point, who is that third candidate?
  6. I participated in this thread over the weekend objecting to Colin's form of expression, but was interested in comments about the issues he wants highlighted/addressed. Just checked in and was surprised to see the discussion morphed into a debate over voter fraud. In one respect its fascinating that the conversation took that turn, but unless we are talking local politics I'm highly skeptical that voter fraud is contributing to Colin's discontent.
  7. First of all, thanks for your service..and to anyone else on the thread who has served! It's hit home for me the past few years as my young boys have insisted on salute/respect/silence during the national anthem. It's been a reminder to me of what a great country I live in, the struggles we face to keep it that way way and the struggles we face to evolve it.
  8. IMO when he failed to stand in respect of our flag his statement was made...this thread validates it and I suppose was an easier and less controversial option than you suggest. Am I the only one that remembers Rick Monday? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZzeEaBHUBM
  9. My only point is that our flag and our precepts allow us to express ourselves and evolve. I think we've done that and will continue (and need to) to do so. Colin or anyone else) who disparages the flag misses the point IMO.
  10. Once again, you lost me. Do you take issue with the notion of freedom of speech that the flag and anthem represent? I just don't see how protesting the anthem/flag translates to things like allowing women to vote, eliminating slavery or addressing the issues that fa face the country today. Freedom of speech was intended to allow us move forward as a country. Do you think we'd still be where we were 200+ year ago without that philosophy?
  11. Remind me again...are slavery and woman's suffrage still a thing? Thanks for making my point!
  12. Completely disagree that we are "never allowed to criticize the country". The country was founded on the opposite precept : "by the people, for the people" and freedom of speech as a basic right.
  13. Freedom of speech? You can easily ignore the subjects that don't interest you, 16 pages in suggests that not everyone agrees with you.
  14. You lost me. I wasn't commenting on Colin's (or anyone else's) grievance.
  15. For years players have used the national anthem as a platform. What makes no sense to me (cue Battle Hymn of the Republic in the background) is that the anthem/flag should be a celebration/acknowledgement of our freedoms. Including the freedom of speech to voice your displeasure with the current state of affairs. Voicing your displeasure while spurning the symbol that grants you that right seems contradictory and pointless to me.
