Tebow was an intriguing NFLer. Had some big moments that made me wonder if he had the "it" factor but had a far greater suck factor.
But I never questioned his desire or effort or that his beliefs were an on-field detriment (although a huge off-field distraction from the fan/hater perspective).
I have no problem with the Mets signing him. They're in the midst of an (unlikely) playoff drive so nobody will care about him until spring training...assuming he's still around in February. And I'm not buying into 20+ teams checking in on his work-out and the signing being a publicity stunt in September when the team is alive and well! The Mets are taking a flyer on a guy with some level of talent and a ton of heart and I don't see the risk. This is not the NFL where he's taking up a roster spot.
