  1. You have a pretty simplistic view of "war".
  2. the structure bar was set pretty low under the Ryan clowns.
  3. I think there are two reasons SM decided not to pick up the 5th year option: the obvious, injury concern; the less obvious, is Sammy going to be the kind of player that fits McDermott's mold? I saw an interview prior to draft where SM talked about buy-in by your elite players, and he said something to the effect, if you can't get them on board, you can lose the team. If you look at the FAs and draft picks, these all seem to be team first players. Re Watkins, is he going to be a team-first player? I'm thinking of Sammy complaining about not getting the ball or expressing himself when a ball is poorly thrown. These are legitimate gripes, but I doubt McDermott wants to see these public displays. Hopefully Denison will do what Atlanta does with Julio which will be good for the O and Sammy. If not, and Sammy expresses his disappointment, then they will move on from him. I see this as a one year contract to look at both issues. If they decide to move on, then they should tag and trade; if they want him, then they'll have to throw a boat load of $ at him, with no guarantee he wants to stay. anything but a pro bowl year, and I'd guess there's very little chance he's here beyond 2018 with the tag.
  4. sure, the chance of "winning" Iraq is greater than winning Afghanistan, but the latter is near zero. I have to believe the US military leaders are not that stupid? I lean toward the analysis that any new surge there is more a ruse to build up a force that can be used to stymie China in the near future.
  5. i'm wondering why they portray the Saxon kings with such effeminate characters? Trying to emphasize cunning beats brute strength?
  6. Given that some here have argued we could've "won Iraq" if the American people had the stomach for a protracted US presence significant enough to get the job done, what about Afghanistan? No country could be this stupid, could they? Trump wants more troops
  7. I am sure he was one of the names McDermott took of the draft board because of those issues.
  8. Git her done Russ!
  9. The Bills tried to do the best thing for him. They will have a clear conscience.
  10. I assume he's the one you have to credit for managing the cap better than in the past couple of years. By passing on Gilmore, the Bills can more easily go after people cut (for cap reasons) by other teams between now and Week 1.
  11. A cheap threat to the pharmaceutical monopoly/lobby, so there will be much pressure ($) to prevent this from happening in the most visible sport (marketing $) in the country.
  12. It would be great to know what the texting activity is between McDermott and beanie boy. Anyone work for the NSA?
  13. a very good point. You can be the superior team in many ways and still lose because of the difference at QB. Ask Dallas.
  14. Judge him after he's had a chance to coach real games for a season.
  15. On a positive note, and Depending on CK's recovery, the offensive line Should be a real strength of the team.
  16. No. That Taylor contract was crap, and I doubt Whaley really knew it when he signed it. That means they are both to blame. I cut Whaley a little slack on the cap situation because of what he was trying to do*, but that doesn't excuse him for not being more strategic and involved. * He spent a lot of money upgrading the offense in 2015 because they already had a playoff caliber defense. I don't fault him for bribing Shady, over-paying for Clay (because Roman wanted him), and bringing in Harvin.
  17. Another body to add to the mix, someone with experience; no more no less. I would hazard a guess that the Bills will carry 6 CBs on the final 53 roster and only 4 of them are currently on the roster.
  18. Whaley has to sign off on them. When asked about Taylor's terrible contract, he said as much. However, Whaley admittedly said he left salary cap issues to Overdorff. The fact that he didn't think about it strategically is one of his major weaknesses.
  19. Thanks, as I was just about to look for their depth chart--already tired of the Whaley firing...
  20. A qb in R1 this year.
  21. i recall reading a piece just after the hire that monos convinced whaley to get behind mcdermott.
  22. there goes that theory
  23. Whaley is a good personnel man. I hope we don't see a Gilmore situation where many people view him as mediocre but a certain team scoops him up. i will be very disappointed if Monos goes too
  24. how soon until the patriots hire him?
