  1. This was supposed to be a win-now roster, that's extremely cap heavy on defense. Rex took this job and was supposed to be able to get us over the hump and back to the playoffs right away. He was supposed to be able to maximize this talent, add some tweaks to the previous regime, and produce an elite product. Needing a full year (on to year 2) of having players adjust to the scheme and learn to communicate was not the preset expectations of the organization. Now it's clear that full blown changes are going to be made on the defensive side of the ball. For what? To give a below .500 HC the players he needs? The defensive players we have already proved they can be a playoff caliber defense in a wide 9 scheme. Easier to get rid of one guy or revamp an entire roster that took years to build? I guess that's the question.
  2. 4 months ago some believed "EJ deserved time with the ones". I chuckled. That's all. Please remove bump.
  3. It's a tad bit comical to look at some of these old threads, no?
  4. Darby. Karlos. Key is over-promised. Made shoot from the hip guarantees and put the bullseye on the entire team around the league. That's more of the issue here.
  5. I firmly believe this is where we are headed.... Whaley will be gone. We let players walk, draft specific to Rex's scheme, cut previous pro-bowlers all to match a scheme that over the past few years has proven to be outdated. All in on Rex. All to give a below .500 career HC, the players he needs to potentially be successful. Fast forward a year or two down the road and we will need that 4-3 pass rusher (Mario) to suit the new HC in town. Rinse and repeat.
  6. A multi-billionaire who holds business interests in natural gas development, real estate, entertainment and professional sports has little experience dealing with egos and individuals who talk a big game.... right. He may not have the football IQ, but the hire was not due to lacking experience in dealing with a persuasive salesman. Ok. It may work out, the results aren't there yet as some posters here seem to believe. Pegula had an A+ grade with the Rex hire before it turned into a dumpster fire. Obviously hope Pegula can be a great owner for the Bills (and Sabres) for the rest of time and deliver multiple championships to WNY. But, relating the Sabres tank plan (with no results) to the Bills future success is very premature and has little basis for argument.
  7. Not a hockey guy, just see the results. Waiting on the results as well, before I decide whether Pegula's "righted the ship".
  8. I keep seeing this misconception and I don't understand. Last I checked, the Sabres were near dead last in the Eastern Conference.
  9. I doubt the Pegula's knew how poor Rex's scheme matched our roster and how undisciplined the team would play for the entire year. On the other hand, they definitely knew he would be a o̶i̶l̶ gold mine for season ticket sales (franchise record) and national media attention.
  10. Sorry if too soon. He'd be a great politician someday. My favorite: "You mentioned how well we played on defense last year. You know, fourth in the league is probably a little disappointing, to be honest with you. Because that's not where my expectations are. I know we'll lead the league in defense." - Rex Ryan, January 2015

  12. Your naive if you don't think Pegula isn't after making money. Rex may be on the hot seat, but the jersey's/tickets/hype has been sold already. Quick buck.
  13. In all seriousness, we sold the most season tickets in franchise history and created the most hype in recent memory. It is a business. Have to believe the bottom line on the Buffalo Bills balance sheet is showing steady growth. For this, the Rex hire may not be frowned upon from an owner's point of view. Horrible from a fan's standpoint.
  14. This loss comes back to Whaley. Impossible to say Cassel would have won this game, but it's hard to argue he wouldn't have given us a better chance.
  15. I thought the O-line had one of their best pass blocking outings of the season thus far.
  16. The tape is already out on Chan and Fitz from years past... If this was the case, teams would have already locked onto what they were doing based on previous history.
  17. Dropping the d line into coverage is the coaches fault. How about the records of the teams we beat?
  18. Considering Marrone and Schwartz did more with less, the answer to your question is yes.
  19. I consider a scheme that drops a 6'6 292 lb pro bowl defensive end into coverage endless times as the coach taking plays off.
