That playoff game was a head scratcher. We just didn’t show up, for whatever reason. We were flat, and they were physical. (I’m not getting into the drama rumors.) Having said that, I take some comfort in knowing that Mike Brown is cheap. Cincinnati was my college town and I still have buddies there with season tickets. He is despised. Ralph didn’t know what cheap looks like. Apparently, aside from the way they run the team, they complain that nobody will fix the escalators and stuff like that. I could go on and on, but I don’t see him coughing up $400 MIL in guarantees to put in escrow like the Dolphins did to sign Tua, Hill and Waddle. Maybe they can, but I don’t see them spending where they will need to long term. This link has some crazy stuff in it about just how bad things were in Cincinnati. https://www.cincyjungle.com/2018/7/10/17553122/tj-houshmandzadeh-bengals-cincinnati-mike-brown-water-gatorade-jock-straps

NFL feeding itself to the sharks (Private Equity)

Exactly, I’d think the Bengals would be the first team to benefit from having this tool available if needed. They are going to need some cash for guarantees if nothing else. . -
NFL feeding itself to the sharks (Private Equity)

Having some liquidity for estate planning and facility improvements, etc makes some sense. Kind of like using Josh’s contract as the piggy bank you go to when you need cap space. My first question is why would private equity consider this? They aren’t in control and they can’t just flip or take it apart and sell it for a profit. Is the cash flow worth the investment? These franchises do not turn over very often, so what’s the return? Maybe if I knew more about the terms it would be obvious. 🤷♂️ We bought some stock in a bank a buddy was with as CEO. He went there to take a healthy but stagnant bank and grow it to get it sold. For a variety of reasons he was only there about 2 years. The PE investor on the board wants things to move faster, but they don’t own enough to make it happen. I agree with that PE firm, the time value of money is not nothing, so the NFL PE guys will find a way to make it worth their while. I have no control over this, so I’m not going to worry about it. -
…and some of them probably don’t like getting trucked or hurdled by a QB. This may be one of those things where you love it when “that guy” is “your guy.” My college basketball team has had some guys who would have pissed me off….if they were on the other team. But we LOVED them!

From your post: “questionable on field leadership and a weak offensive philosophy to flourish now is unrealistic.” We don’t know who will step up as leaders, and I’d like to at least SEE the offense before declaring that the offensive philosophy is weak. THOSE are not facts, they are your (predictable) opinions about something that hasn’t even happened yet. It’s a new year, for the Bills and every other team. I’ll wait and see. .

You are making leaps in judgement, not presenting facts.

“We” are going to play the games, and we will see how it goes. I trust that WR is a high priority. How and when that happens, I don’t know.
-
Is every aspect of your life this dismal? Let’s play some football first. Not just go full freak out mode prior to the opener.
-
Tre White (TWICE), Von Miller and Matt Milano say hello. That is just the beginning, but it’s a long, ugly list. Did YOU chip in as a DB last year? Stuff happens.
-
We got stuck behind the Chiefs and had a few very bad breaks. Like the rest of the NFL. That’s sports. .

Can I bring my two Goldens over to spend the day at your place? 😊 They have their own beds all over the house, but they love OUR beds. The only furniture they are allowed to get on. We love our dogs, but they shed a damn puppy per day. I had two Goldens when I met my wife, so it was a package deal. My dogs then were jealous and protective of me, trying to stay between me and the wifey in bed. Funny. And unsuccessful. Now? The dogs who know us both equally just ditch me as soon she comes home. 🤷♂️ I don’t think the gate to Heaven has a box to check regarding what time you made your bed. You may be cutting it close, but I think you are in by a technicality.

Week 1 - Cardinals at Bills - Game Week Thread
Augie replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I maintain landing in London on a Thursday morning for a Sunday game against the (home) team who’ve been there for a couple weeks…….. I’m sorry. I caught myself! Different. -
I wouldn’t evaluate a GM over a single pick. The draft is hit or miss, so I’d look at his overall body of work.

When we first got married I tried to be a good sport and make the bed. No hospital corners, but neat. It wasn’t to her satisfaction so she’d come around behind me and tidy it up a bit. I gave up. Decades later she’s worse about it than I EVER was! The bed is “made” 100% of the time, but it’s not exactly ready for inspection. And yes, there is a sheet on top to make it easier to accommodate for the dogs and their shedding.

We need to get past the Chiefs and their grabby DB’s in the playoffs when the flags don’t fly. Coleman is more physical, so he seems to fit our immediate needs better. I also would not be too quick to judge Coleman after a single year. He may take a little time.

We all knew this would be a tight year on the cap, a “get well year”, if you will. And we still have the 7th best Super Bowl odds in the league. Yeah, we’re pretty terrible. Obviously time will tell, but I think this last draft is going to fill a lot of holes over the next few years. I really liked this draft, especially if Keon can focus 100% on football and improve his route running and separation. I’m also optimistic about next year with more cap space and plenty of draft picks. My second favorite team this year is anyone playing the Vikings! 😂

Oh, the humanity! A 5th round pick didn’t work out after a year. This is very upsetting!

That would require a left hand turn into Hammers, exactly what I was trying to avoid. As @Just Jack said above (with a helpful link to a map) I need to take Southwestern, turn right on Abbott to go south for a right hand turn into Hammers. It was a hassle last time trying to turn left off of Abbott. Either way, it will have to be plenty early.

If we are having beer for breakfast, we probably won’t care too much.

Yeah, thanks but no. I’ve been burned before. I’m not sure what went wrong. I’m sure I could have done it better. .
-
I apologize but I don’t see a better place to ask this question: I know roads close on game days, so is there a GPS location I can shoot for that will then allow me to take a right into Hammers? We had a helluva time turning left into the lot. I’ll be coming from Williamsville. I had my wife jump out and she got Mead to stop traffic. Looks like I’m alone this year. I’m a big fan of keeping it simple.

I played second row behind a prop who NEVER washed his practice gear. I’m not even sure if he washed it BETWEEN seasons. Get that ripe stuff warmed up and you could gag a maggot! I apologize, I’ll go vomit at the thought now.

Anyone else genuinely disinterested in movies from the last 10 years?

….and almost everything happens before kickoff. It’s really not very obtrusive from my experience. -
Some guys are probably going to want a snap shot of that. Look! I made the 53! And then something happens. I briefly played rugby with a guy who had been in the (then) Redskins camp and missed the cut. He was a DB, and a freak athlete! Picked up rugby immediately. I thought “if this guy can’t make it, who can?” We don’t realize how big and fast and violent this game is.
