  1. They do it because it’s their job. I’m sure they don’t like it or enjoy it, but they have NO CHOICE. Did you see the players going down due to heat? I did. That tells me all I need to know about how unsafe those conditions are. When a player collapses due to the heat, it’s no longer just my thoughts. It was a fact, one that should be obvious even to you. I’ve been taken down by the heat before exerting myself at tennis on hot days. I feared for my well being and learned my lesson. I’m glad I had the option of just quitting. These guys do not. Your turn. You show me where they say it’s just fine and dandy. Show me where they say it was a fair situation. And while that may have been unsafe, at least it was even and fair.
  2. For you to watch 300+ lb men dropping like flies and then to say it’s not a safety issue tells us all we need to know about your understanding. I’ve never noticed how unfair it was until last Sunday. I read a little and learned how much of a benefit that shade is under certain conditions. I also learned about the ridiculous restrictions preventing shade. I was open to learning. You keep bringing up the Bills. Forget that. I don’t care if it’s a women’s field hockey game. Not allowing shade is both unfair AND dangerous. PERIOD. I’ve wasted enough time here.
  3. I like your approach. Maybe the reverse jinx works? Anyway, the odds are in your favor, and when you are finally wrong we will be too excited to point it out! 😋 .
  4. Take the football game out of it. The game seems to be blinding you. Look at the overall situation. I don’t care if we won by 40, they switch field directions to keep things even and fair due to varying weather conditions. Yet this stadium design intentionally gives the home team an unfair advantage in certain conditions unlike any other in the league. I know how much you like to argue. I understand what you are trying to say, I just don’t understand why you can’t comprehend that this is an unfair advantage and a safety issue. BIG PICTURE….not last week’s game. Pretend you’ve never seen a football game. Does that seem fair or safe?
  5. You have an outstanding ability to miss the point completely. I’m not talking about any particular game, with or without the Bills. It’s a big picture issue. If I had never watched a football game in my life, and didn’t have a team that I followed, I could look at that and say having one team suffering thru temps 20-30 degrees hotter due to deliberate stadium design is BS. It’s pretty simple.
  6. Most people don’t realize how frequent concussions are in soccer. It’s a big deal. Hope everyone is fine long term.
  7. I believe what you are describing is actually back spasms, from what I’ve heard lately. Be careful, once you get them once, they are more likely to come back, possibly four days later at work.
  8. I smell the Pats* getting an extra comp pick. I apologize, that was horrific because letting him back in the game was ridiculous. And I’m not talking about winning or losing.
  9. I think this deserves it’s own thread at this point. This is deep $#@%. .
  10. ….and Edmunds, and Spencer Brown. They obviously love all kinds of players, but bigger is better! Even Elam is good size and long. They seem to have a type. I love it! I promise not to start a “Fire Everyone” thread until after Thanksgiving! 😋
  11. Credit where credit is due…..well done! He certainly looks for real, and I expect this level of play to continue, and even improve. He’s got the tools, and he seems to have the drive. And a helluva mentor! .
  12. I hope I never get so out of tune that I can’t see the obvious, even if I need a second take. I’m wrong all the time, but I am capable of seeing the light and changing my position. That would be a miserable existence as far as I’m concerned.
  13. As of this moment, this thread had 125 views, and 5 replies. I wonder how many other people were concerned about what might pop up…..and whether it might put me on a “list” of some type? EDIT: OK, kinda cute and I survived. .
  14. Some people just like to argue, even of they have an indefensible position. Just a smidgin of common sense tells you this is unfair, and potentially dangerous. It’s not whining or sour grapes, it’s an obvious FACT.
  15. You just refuse to “get it”. Your stubbornness is getting in the way of rational thought. I don’t care if it was the Stinkin’ Patriots* playing in those conditions, it is just WRONG. Sometimes in the past 6 years the game has been later in the season, or the weather has been more moderate. Had we pulled out the win (which was still very possible), I would be every bit as upset with the inherent unfairness. I was never aware of the deliberately designed unfair advantage until last Sunday. You will NEVER convince me that is “fair”, because it’s blatantly slanted to the home team. The wind game affected both teams equally. That is why they switch ends of the field, to make things as fair as possible. If we switched sidelines every quarter, it would be stupid, but at least it would be FAIR. But we know the Dolphins would have no part of that, period. They know how hot is it in the sun! Please stop bringing up comparisons where both teams face the same adversity. It is insulting to our intelligence and a waste of our time. And it completely misses the point every single time. I don’t care if it’s hot in Miami, as long as it is equally hot for both teams.
  16. A picture really CAN be worth 1,000 words. When Hugo devastated Charleston it looked a bit like that. My boss at the time was there, so I got there often. After some time had passed we resumed regular meetings. I did not expect to have to dodge yachts on the streets downtown. THAT made a huge impression upon me. All people could talk about was generator repairs, where a barber shop had reopened, etc. It takes a long time to get back to anything resembling “normal”.
  17. There goes the neighborhood!
  18. That is just plain silly. There is a reason the teams change field direction during a game. It is to create a sense of fairness. If we could make their sideline 20-30 degrees colder, they would BWord up a storm!!! That is the flip side, and it’s NOT Okay, even if we are on the side that benefits. What they have in Miami is more like the wind only blows (and blows HARD) when the opponent is on offense. It is a gross violation of any sense of fairness. .
  19. No, it’s not a freak storm, and that is EXACTLY the point. It is very hot, and it is designed to be 20-30 hotter on the visitors side (according to the article). That is complete BS IMO. It’s not a little detail, like a smaller locker room. It affects the visitors to an unreasonable level in the minds of most rational people. It is not only unfair, it is unsafe. Yes, it IS predictable, unreasonable and premeditated.
  20. I do not believe that is accurate. They had a 3 year, $500 million renovation project that ended around 2016. According to this article, the fans will see a 20-30 degree improvement in the temperature by adding the ceiling tiles/shade. I’m sure the Miami players see a similar improvement….and IMO it’s an unfair advantage. You can disagree, but it clearly does not make for an even playing field. This was an intentional design advantage, and the league should provide some remedy to make it more fair and equal. https://www.miaminewtimes.com/news/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-dolphins-500-million-stadium-renovation-8659288
  21. Nope, in Buffalo it’s equally cold and snowy for both teams. There is nothing unbalanced about it. The same cannot be said about one team standing in shade while the other team bakes in the sun.
  22. The Magic Bean market has been dark. Can’t count on anything.
  23. Linky no worky. .
  24. Well, I guess it’s not that easy, is it? I thought live it was a drop/knocked out. I thought on the replay it met the elements of a catch. Two hands, two feet, turned his body (football move), catch in the end zone. That’s a TD. BUT, a number of people I respect disagree. Tossing that red challenge flag is not an easy decision.
  25. In college I worked as a sorter for UPS part time during the holidays. It was either 11PM to 3AM, or 3AM to 7AM. And it would change all the time. Somehow my young body survived all that. We also did polling over the phone for the “Cincinnati Voter Opinion Poll”, a/k/a the AFL/CIO wanted to know what you thought. The current me would shoot the former me. I was also recruited by friends to work at a mostly college bar checking ID’s at the door. This was before I learned the old “if you were born before this date” trick. It kinda happened on the fly, and I was just paid in drinks….to do math every time someone walked in the crowded bar past me at the door. I’m sure I got a few right, but it’s curious that I don’t remember ever turning anyone away. 🤷‍♂️
