  1. Thanks, that's great news.
  2. It stinks that the radio coverage switched from GR to 1230. I live in Eastern Niagara County and can't pick up 1230 unless I go out and sit in my car.
  3. Guess you guys were right - just one last trip to see the sights before heading out of town. Donnie we hardly knew ya.
  4. Many of the cut predictions have Donnie Spragan getting the axe. For what it's worth he and his wife/fiancee (big rock beautiful lady) checked into a posh hotel in Niagara Falls last night and took a 5-hour tour. He didn't act like a man expecting to be unemployed today.
  5. Yeah, like work Nicole Kidman into it.
  6. Yesterday they played the tape from when Doug Flutie's band took on the Losers. Doug's brother was the lead singer and the magic man played the skins. One of the judges had a classic line: "First off, I'd just like to say that I think Doug is too short to be a drummer."
  7. I don't know why this is in off-the-wall, but I'd like to add my two cents in praise of Lori. Her game previews are top-notch and are much more comprehensive than what is found in the local daily papers. From one writer to another - you're the cat's pajamas, Lori
  8. Just a head's up, the current issue of the Jughead comic (who knew they still put them out?) has the famous eater in town for this weekend's Wing Fest. Jughead in Buffalo The Jugster visits the Anchor Bar and meets local personalities like Mayor Brown and the always-hot Mary-Alice Demler. I guess that the Wing Fest promoter bought 20,000 copies of the issue (almost the entire run) so its almost impossible to get your hands on one. If you go to the festival, hold on to your copy, they're already selling for $10 or more on E-bay. Pretty cool national exposure for Buffalo.
  9. I'm not sure if some folks realize just how highly thought of Peters is around the league. The current issue of Sporting News has him rated as the 11th best PLAYER in the league - regardless of position. You don't trade a guy as gifted as him unless you find out he's badly injured. The Bills hold all the cards here, there's no need to get froggy and jump.
  10. Thurman was on GR-55 the other day and had a good line. He said that if Bruce didn't get the sack record he'd still be playing.
  11. Sorry, didn't see the other thread. Mods, please delete.
  12. So I'm sitting in the john reading Esquire, as I'm wont to do, and decide to read the feature piece on one Tom Brady. I'm just getting over my knee-jerk hatred for him and all things Patsie when I read the follwing paragraph: "We were playing the Bills last year and I got a call in from the sidelines," Tom Brady says, regaling now. "And Josh, the coordinator, he says, 'Second and one, get the first down.' We're up 17? A lot, I don't remember. We're on the 48-yard line, and Moss was wide, so I just said, 'Randy, go deep.' And I just laid it up there. I just threw it. I ran off and Josh shouted, 'Just get the first down!' And I said, 'How was that?' They pulled me out of the game. That's exactly what I was trying to do." Then, angry about Marcia's dig at out woeful D last year, I flip on the RCA and tune to the Olympics. I'm watching the men's ping-pong (table tennis to you pinky-cockers) final and two guys from China are playing the game at a level unimaginable. Just when I'm forgetting about the Esquire diss one of the announcers describes one of the players as "ping-pong's Jim Kelly, because he's been to the world finals four times - losing each one." Ouch! Sometimes being a Bills fan is a real b*tch!!
  13. Based on the underwhelming response to this thread I think we can safely surmise that boxing is dead. RIP
  14. Reminds me of the old Michael Jorden bit on Letterman: Letterman: I understand that you can't wear your new sneaker during NBA games, why is that? MJ: Because it doesn't have any white in it. Letterman: Neither does the NBA. (Rim shot)
  15. Ali, Foreman, Spinks and Leonard. All were Olympic gold medalists. The US had won 108 Olympic medals in boxing before this year. In 2008, we've won one (the bronze medal in the heavyweight division). Shameful! Seems like an indicator of boxing's overall decline, coupled with the rise in popularity of MMA. Or do you think our guys just stunk this year.
  16. Graet first post. You know we don't have enough baseless negative comments around here. You'll really round things out. (Sarcasm on)
  17. I just can't see the logic in Peters and his agent staying silent throughout this holdout. Normally, the agent would be in front of TV cameras doing his best Jerry Maguire. With 3 years still left on his deal the Bills aren't going to blink. He can't holdout because the years just roll over. He'll loose his salary and still be under contract for 3 more years, Just a thought based on nothing more than pure speculation, but might there not be an ulterior motive behind the no-contact? Might Peters still be hurt from last season (didn't he have off-season surgery?) and taking the extra time to heal? (Or get a deal signed while the Bills are oblivious to the extent of his injuries.) Or what if he feels he won't pass the drug tests and is trying to cleanse his system before reporting? Again, just random speculation, but both scenarios make more sense than thinking its just about a new contract.
  18. Good point. Also, iinm, the Toronto games are considered Buffalo "Home" games. Meaning, if the people of Toronto don't sell out a game it's blacked out in the Buffalo market regardless of the distance.
  19. As of this morning there were $32.00 tickets for the game available on Stubhub. I guess Canadains are finding out how hard it is to get rid of preseason tix.
  20. "God is in his heaven, And we all want what's his, But power and greed and corruptible seed, seem to be all that there is" - Bob Dylan "Blind Willie McTell" "Then I got Mary pregnant, And man that was all she wrote, For my 19th birthday, I got a union card and a wedding coat, We went down to the courthouse, And the judge put it all to rest, No wedding day smiles, no walk down the aisles, no flowers, no wedding dress" - Bruce Springsteen "The River"
  21. Nice pics, thanks. Didn't realize JP was rocking the full beard.
  22. Haven't seen the show, but I think that her book "Vodka are you there? It's me, Chelsea" has one funny title.
  23. I'm coming with a group of 6 for the Thursday night practice.
  24. The Spikes situation is a great example of how supposed NFL "experts" get caught up in name worship. When the Bills traded him to Philly many talking heads labeled it as a sign of Buffalo's impending doom and the Eagles' rise to Super Bowl favorites. Now, it is evident that the Bills were right to jettison a once-great player who will never recpature lost glory.
