Sorry, Aaron. I read the "L' as an "R." I've got relatives in San Mateo, beautiful place.

I live in Appleton, on the Eastern-most end of Niagara County. I was born and raised in the city. After college I lived away for over 10 years and came back a decade ago to find a city I barely recognized. Writing for the Reporter brings me into the city often. Things are bad, but Mayor Dyster is a good dude. When I started Niagara Rises I told the group that if the city was going to turn around we needed a "buy in" from former residents. It's okay to "join" the group from wherever you're living now. I'm one of the lucky few making a good living in WNY - I know there's many more former residents who can lend a hand both financially and with their life experience. For the first time in decades there's a positive buzz. Again, circle the last weekend in June as the time to come back. I'll post the details of the PC here tomorrow. PS- I understand your concern for your grandmother. Thank God she's good with a knife.

Aaron, You're so right about the decay and the problems. That's why Niagara Rises was formed. The group is about giving the people a voice. We've all learned that government isn't going to get it done alone. Anyway, check the site on Tuesday afternoon and you'll find out why you need to come home next June. And hey, go write a blog on life as an ex-Falls resident living in North Carolina.

As some of you may know I founded a grassroots group dedicated to the revival of Niagara Falls (Tall order, there) called Niagara Rises. We have revised our website and it is now blog based. We're looking for writers to pontificate on a number of subjects pertaining to the Falls. If you're passionate about the Niagara Wine Trail, City Politics, History, Government, High School and College Sports or most any other subject pertaining to the Cataract City please visit the site and lay down your thoughts. Here's a Linky Btw, there will be a major press conference Tuesday morning concerning an upcoming Niagara Rises event. It promises to be the best thing to happen to the Falls since Marilyn Monroe hit the town. "Come on up for the rising."

Sometimes the incredible tangents on this board drive me up a wall. Let's mention that UB - not so long ago worst team in Division 1-A, couldn't win a road game, couldn't win a home game, talked about going back to Division III - UB won their Division last night and clinched a bowl game. UB is going bowling!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it????????????? Hats off to Turner Gill for trusting in his senior QB to audiblize and run a pro-style offense. If Willy gets drafted late - good on him. If he doesn't, he'll get a shot as a FA. But the story is - UB is going to a bowl game! Will wonders cease?

I haven't said much over the last 4 weeks
ChevyVanMiller replied to Hazed and Amuzed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you make a lot of good points especially about Trent Edwards. I still believe this kid is a future superstar. Keep the faith! -
I've had DirecTV since the Rigas' nearly caused the Sabres to leave town. It's cheaper, channels are all-digital and I've never had one issue with anything. Hey, cable subscribers - you're missing Bills games. What more incentive to switch do you need? If you haven't switched, do it today. Plus, it will help the best damn site on the internet.

FOX Sports reports that Favre contacted Lions and spent over 1 hour briefing them on GB playbook. Of course, the sorry Lions still lost big. Still, if proven true it shows that Brett is a real a$$wipe. Favre Tips Off Lions

Channel 4 reports the Ballons
ChevyVanMiller replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NYSEG said that it was a bunch of mylar helium balloons that sparked the transformer knocking out power at the game yesterday. A few limo drivers waiting in the designated lot reported to the police that they saw the balloons fly onto the wires and then saw the sparks fly. -
Trent is cooler than the center seed of a cucumber. Watching him play is a pleasure. I can't imagine him not playing in Hawaii in February.

UB games have been really entertaining the past two years. They should have rolled Army (a team that almost never passes) more easily, but it was a thrilling ending. Go Bulls!

Thanks for adding a little bit of class to this thread. It's always amazing to learn about what great athletes the NFL has. Even the kickers and punters (see: Brian Moorman) were all-world in High school and college.

I think all Chargers fans have concussions
ChevyVanMiller replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, almost forgot. Ran into a tourist in Niagara Falls last night. He had on a Vancouver Canucks jersey. He said that he was from B.C. and is a huge Canucks and Chargers fan. Went on to say that he's been waiting on this trip forever. He couldn't wait to see his Canucks spank the Sabres at HSBC and then watch the Chargers rout the Bills at the Ralph. Brian, if you're reading this (I tipped him off about the site) you're 0 for 1 and about to be making a long plane ride home with Buffalo hoof prints on your forehead. Buffalo weekend sweep, baby! -
Take a look at this link: Edwards Column A nice piece in S.D. area paper about Trent's recovery from his concussion. Look at the (many) comments below it. Not one is on topic. The Dolt fans just blather on about whatever innane thought passes into their Keith Lincoln lovin' brains. Couldn't even come up with the obligatory: "Wait 'till our D-Line knocks him silly" line. Sheesh! And I thought people here had a hard time with tangents.

Juat a thought about the whole "didn't pass the physical" deal: Do you think a team uses that as a safety valve? For instance: Let's say that McCargo shows up in Indy and has a terrible interview. He shows a bad attitude and the team figures he's a bad fit. Do they then "fail" him to get the pick back? Also, could Indy figure that there's no way the Bills keep him after he's sent back so why not get him on waivers and keep the draft pick? If that's the case the NFL should make it a rule that if you void a trade you can't claim that player if they are waived.

A lot of people seem to be getting really geeked up on this. Proceed with caution - odds are KC won't move him at all. It would be great if they did - to the Bills. I don't want everyone on the TG sugar high to crash hard if he's still in KC tomorrow at 4:01 PM

I've listened to the show for years. I think that Howard is simply in a much happier place in his life, which may not be condusive to being "relevent." He's been in three-times-a-week therapy for years (making him a much calmer, happier guy), signed a contract for $500 million and just married a super model. Yeah, that's irrelevent, for sure. When I tune in it's just to hear old friends do their thing. I don't care if "A" listers don't come on - give me Eric the Midget anyday.

Sure could have used Superman in the secondary against the Cards. What a stupid move that was - and from Marv no less. (sarcasm ON) Let it go and enjoy the bye fer cryin out loud.

That's one way to spin it. Here's another: Fitzgerald is more effective because of the presence of Boldin on the team. Defenses can't double him nearly as much because Boldin can burn single coverage. If Lee had a legit #2 (maybe Hardy by the end of the season) his numbers would exceed Fitzgerald's.
