  1. Just goes to show you how good Bobby April is at his job. He knew the nuances of the rule and planned it out perfectly.
  2. That's about the 3rd time I've fallen for the Pixy link over the past two years. Damn you, damn you I say!
  3. The Toronto Sun covered the game and opened the piece by mentioning that it's still three months away before the team becomes the Toronto Bills for a day. Toronto Sun Bills' Coverage Later, the writer offered up this gem: "Despite a shaky start that included punts on their first four possessions, the Bills had plenty of confidence boosters before a sellout crowd of 71,194 at their principal home, Ralph Wilson Stadium. " Principal home - that hurts. Add to that the writer's use of the Canadian-English "Defence" and I'm ready to hurl myself off of the skybridge on the QEW. Also, can someone please get the Buffalo News a photo of Kawika Mitchell that doesn't show him wearing the 'Bills in Toronto' patch. Go Bills, and more importantly, Go Buffalo!
  4. Keep in mind Al Pacino's great line from "The Devil's Advocate:" "Don't get too cocky my boy. No matter how good you are don't ever let them see you coming. That's the gaffe my friend. You gotta keep yourself small. Innocuous. Be the little guy. You know, the nerd... the leper... sh---kickin' surfer. Look at me"
  5. Johnny Depp as the Riddler, Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin. When do tickets go on sale? Sounds like an instant classic.
  6. See the following thread: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=71360
  7. Indeed! Reminds me off the great quote by Ko Simpson when he sacked Culpepper a couple years back and said, "I saw the big joker sitting back in the pocket and my eyes got real big."
  8. The players are all singing the "Rally 'round Matt" tune, but will they really entrust the reins of a Super Bowl possible team to a 7th Round draft pick? It says here that the Patsies* will go after Daunte Culpepper and that the former Fin will accept their offer (in spite of his eloquent retirement statement of last week.)
  9. High marks for the late 18th and early 19th presidential reference. Probably a TSW first. Way to go!
  10. I was jumping for joy when I heard the Brady news. Still there's a part of me that would have liked to see the Bills' D we saw yesterday take a piece out of Tom Terrific's backside.
  11. Great point. After that TD I was thinking that you could have made a small fortune by walking into a Vegas casino and asking for odds on the bet that the first Bills' passing TD of the season would be Punter Moorman to DE Denney.
  12. A few more: King Harvest - The Band Almost Cut My Hair - C,S,N & Y Goodbye Says It All - Blackhawk Euphoria - School of Fish Informer - Snow How's that for an eclectic mix?
  13. Here's a few to start things off: Up To Me - Bob Dylan Crippled Inside - John Lennon Real Good for Free - Joni Mitchell The Laundry - (Joe Mombrea - on the 107.7 The Lake CD) Case of You - Diana Krall version Not Now John - Pink Floyd Next Time, This Time - Jim Croce
  14. Yeah, this is way off-topic alright.
  15. Give 'em hell for all of us, Thirdborn. Way to carry the Bills' torch through the land of Starbucks. Give Gus my love.
  16. This will go down as the most poorly calculated holdout in history. Peters cost himself thousands of dollars and a lot of respect with the fan base only to report and start at the same square that he would have if he had showed up for training camp. Doh!
  17. I thought that Costanzo played well in preseason. Glad to see him get a shot when the bullets are flying for real (to use an expression that we swore we wouldn't in the days after 9/11). Go Blake!
  18. Add to everything else the fact that for the FA pick-ups and the rooks this will be the first time they've played before a real, live raucous regular season crowd at the Ralph. They're going to be jacked. Go Bills!!!!!
  19. I don't think he was in anyone's camp? Has he officially retired or is he still hoping for a call? On a similar note, what team, and in what week, do you think will sign Daunte Culpepper?
  20. If I read one more quote from someone in the national sports media annointing the Jets as the darling AFC wildcard pick just because Farve is behind center I'm going to hurl. I have a lot of respect for the guy, but he is ancient by football standards and has had two horrible seasons out of the past three. Now he's in a new offense for the first time in nearly two decades and playing in the furor known as NYC. While I wouldn't be totally suprised if he has some success, I think it's twice as likely that he stinks up the Meadowlands this Fall. So for every national talking head that has swapped the Jets for the Bills as his/her AFC wildcard pick, I hope you have to eat your chessehead hat come December.
  21. Thanks. Just a question for anyone who may know: I know that waivers works based on last season's W/L record in reverse, but what is the actual process? Does Miami get a certain amount of time after a guy is waived to claim him before the next team gets a crack or does each team get the same time and when multiple claims are submitted the team with the worse record gets the player?
  22. I think that the first Thursday night game should come in week 2. The season should begin on Sunday with all teams (save the Monday night teams) playing. It's sort of like when MLB "kicks off" the season with two teams playing in Japan. Opening day should involve all teams.
  23. Congrats! That's a great accomplishment (both with the quitting smoking and the running). Good for you, keep it up!
  24. Can teams sign waived players today or do they need wait until Tuesday? It seems impossible that the Bills will go into the Seattle game with just one healthy Tight End. Short yardage situations call for two TE's, they'll have to pick up someone off of the wire - Cieslack (sp?) perhaps?
