  1. You know, for years we feared that a cash-flush, deep-pocketed, free-spender would come in and swoop up the team and move it to big bad LA or Toronto. It's amazing that in the end the rich cat is one of our own and that he was completely unknown in these parts just a few short years ago. It's pretty surreal, and it's maybe the truest harbinger of great things to come for the ever reviving God's Country known as WNY.
  2. Adam Benigni of WGRZ just reported that a source told him, "Process moving quickly, trust could pick a winning bid as early as tomorrow."
  3. 1) Fumblerooski 2) Cordy Glenn 3) 80 yard TD Run
  4. UCONN coach cited for giving congratulatory call to little girl that pitched in the LLWS. http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/11467117/ncaa-says-geno-auriemma-call-mone-davis-broke-rule
  5. Worst draft in Bills history? That's easy - 2015. Seriously though, the 1982 draft was retched. 1 Perry Tuttle WR Clemson 2 Matt Kofler QB San Diego State 3 459 Eugene Marve LB Saginaw Valley 4 1093 Van Williams RB Carson-Newman 6 21160 DeWayne Chivers TE South Carolina 7 4171 Gary Anderson PK Syracuse 8 23218 Luc Tousignant QB Fairmont State 9 22245 Dennis Edwards DT USC 10 21272 Vic James DB Colorado 11 19298 Frank Kalil OG Arizona 12 23329 Tony Suber DT Gardner-Webb
  6. Finally got around to reading the Sunday paper today and came across this article detailing a new NFL broadcast policy. Turns out games can now be flexed between networks and the Bills road game against NFC Chicago will be on FOX rather than CBS. "When the Bills open their season in Chicago next Sunday, there will not be a CBS broadcast team in Soldier Field. Though the Bills are an AFC team playing on the road, the game will be carried on Fox. It is part of the NFL’s new cross-flexing policy, in which the league can move games between the two networks in order to balance the TV lineup of desirable games on a given Sunday." Another game later in the season will flex also. http://www.buffalonews.com/columns/mixed-media/esiason-speaks-up-on-pressure-on-manuel-20140830
  7. I thought this was going to be a thread about what you saw behind Clancy's Bar at closing time. Seriously though, the sport looks pretty cool.
  8. Okay, that actually made me laugh out loud.
  9. Person behind that iconic sign finally revealed. What's interesting is in the game pics from 1987, no one in the crowd is wearing a jersey. When I think back to going to games in those days I always imagine fans wearing Kelly, Bruce or Andre jerseys, but I guess that really didn't start until the '90s. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/columnist/roth/2014/08/29/jim-kelly-banner-buffalo-bills-leo-roth/14806639/
  10. Guy was on his 6th team with the Bills - I can't imagine he's still PS eligible.
  11. I'm generally in the camp of, "always tip and overtip when you're a regular." The one exception is places that take an entitled stance to tipping. for instance, there is an iconic sub shop in NF (Falls residents will know the one I'm talking about) where they have a tip jar with a sign that says, "Tipping is not a city in China." I never tip them a penny.
  12. I agree with all of the OPs points. Also, I know a lot of people think that marrone and Co will stick with EJ for the full year, but I believe if the first few weeks go badly, they will bring in a veteran QB and make a change. With a new owner on the horizon, they don't have the liberty of another losing season.
  13. I felt the same way when I was there for the Tampa game. Isn't a simple solution to keep the ads, but have replays go full-screen?
  14. I think Joe B works hard for his info, but when he comes on WGR I can't switch the station fast enough. He struggles constantly to find the right words and usually fails miserably. He is the king of the malapropism and if I hear him start one more sentence with the phrase, "By no means," I'm going to scream. When you listen to someone like John Murphy on the radio (or, to a lesser degree Howard Simon or Jeremy White) it is apparent that a guy like Joe B is in way over his head in front of the microphone. (As I type this Carpaccio just said, "Chomping at the bit," sheesh, it's "Champing at the bit," Sal.)
  15. Great breakdown of a complex issue - thanks!
  16. You mean the same NFL that is now asking potential SB halftime acts to pay to play? I don't think there's a snowballs chance in h-e- double hockey sticks of that ever happening.
  17. Worst 2nd Rd pick since James Hardy. Hope he can turn it around, but he sure looks like a Jane Russell-sized bust.
  18. Wow, I am so bummed. He was a great actor and I always thought he was a tortured soul that found escape in comedy. RIP
  19. You know things are bad when a guy named "dirtbag" is embarassed by the boorish behavior of fans in his section.
  20. It seemed like he didn't know he was live and thought he could do a re-take or something. ESPN may look elsewhere the next time Bob Ley is out.
  21. The clear starter at RB is Anthony Grey. He led the entire NFL in rushing in the 1999 pre-season then got cut for his efforts. The reason may have been the guys ahead of him on the depth chart: Thurman Thomas, Sam Gash, Antowain Smith and Jonathan Linton.
  22. What about "Boyhood?" is it not released yet. Seems like another masterpiece from Richard Linklater. In this one he got the full cast together for 37 days per year for 12 consecutive years. His protagonist literally ages from 6 to 18 on the screen before your eyes.
  23. Aside from the sub host flubbing the opening. it was a great piece. Between Andre's speech and the OTL lines piece I've cried more tears in two days than I have in the last decade.
  24. What a great thread. Now, I really wish the Bills had drafted him, just for the post-pick presser: Media member - Coach Marrone, what can you tell us about this LB Morris you took in the 4th Rd? Marrone - It's kind of a funny story really. He was completely off of our radar, we didn't scout him at all, but then we got this gushing email from a fan that was so compelling we were afraid to pass on the kid and look foolish when someone like the Patriots grabbed him and we'd have to watch him turn into a perennial all-pro right before our eyes.
