Whether they are Bs or As they are solid picks in areas of need. Good draft so far, need to find a diamond in 4/5 like KW was 10 years ago! -

Bills going to the Pro Bowl
Bills Fan of St Augustine replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair point and great reference! Now if I could just get Kedric Golston picking him up and throwing him around like a rag doll on second and then third and goal from the two out of my mind, I might agree he is a decent center. Second and goal. As awful as the Bills played, they still could have won if they cashed in from the 1 late in the second quarter. On second and 1, Washington defensive tackle Kedric Golston picked up Bills center Eric Wood and threw him to the ground, which slowed LeSean McCoy’s run off left guard. McCoy was stopped just short of the goal line. The Bills actually had good push off the left side of the line. Third and goal. Golston pushed Wood back again off the snap, and that created a big gap that Will Compton crashed through to tackle McCoy. Richie Incognito couldn’t get a piece of Compton, because the linebacker had such an open gap to attack. -
2016 Draft O-line thread
Bills Fan of St Augustine replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think so. I'd give him another year to develop as these young OL aren't always NFL ready. Miller struggled, Henderson, Kojo, Richardson all deserve more time. That said, if we find competent replacement back ups I am all for moving on.... RI is a keeper and Glenn is ok. I thought Urbik played pretty well overall when Miller went down and is a competent back up C. Wood is overpaid and average at best. I draft a OT pretty high and give him a chance to play T or G. A FA RT would be welcomed as well. I draft LB, OL,QB S, WR. -

Agree, you just left out Cyril Richardson. I think he may be on the taxi squad... -
"Experts" Picks Week 17 vs the Jets
Bills Fan of St Augustine replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
and there may be more Jets fans than Bills fans at the game... -
Exactly right. He is a whiner and a quitter. He quit his team, fans and coach. Professional? Yeah right. I thought he was a reach when we signed and overpaid him. A couple good years had me convinced otherwise. Now, well I never hope for a BB to get hurt, but I can't help myself. I truly hate the guy. He'll likely have a good year with whoever he signs with, but you can't change the fact he is an overpaid prima donna ( a vain or undisciplined person who finds it difficult to work under direction or as part of a team) who will revert in due course and be a weight around the neck of his next team. Good riddance.

Deactivate Mario??
Bills Fan of St Augustine replied to Bleeding Bills Blue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be fine if he just wasn't winning his battles. The problem is that he obviously isn't even trying. He suits up because if he doesn't he doesn't get paid. One play he jumped out of the way of the loose football like if it touched him he would be disfigured. Guy is everything you teach kids not to be on the football field and is a disgrace to himself, his teammates and to the organization. Deactivate him for the Jets game and cut him in the offseason. -
Agree though I think he has a step or two on Fred. What I can't figure out is why Rex felt he needed to change anything? If it ain't broke don't fix it and he wins football games. Is he the ultimate egomaniac and/or just stupid? That said, he will be back. Too much money involved and there is no way to salvage the players that have been ruined in the current environment. Mario quit the team, there is no excuse for letting his teammates down like he has. He's gone. Lots of needless picks next season on the D side of the ball. What a shame....

He quit on his team. Cut him. Save the cap money for his replacement plus an OT. -
I don't think you can ignore C either. Wood is killing us trying to run the ball up the gut. Watch the tape of him gettng handled against Foreskins on second and third and one form the one. Clearly cost us a TD. Its happened earlier in the year too. "Things are a bit more concerning in the run department. Wood was solid there in 2011 (ranked No. 17 among centers), but if the past three seasons are any indication (No. 32, No. 27, and No. 31 rankings, respectively), Wood might not ever emerge as one of the league's better run-blocking centers." He's gotta go too. Sign Glenn and RI. Hope Mller develops some.. Sign a premier FA RT. We really need a FART on this team!

While I may not agree with his assessment that the OL is old or aging, he is spot the F*CK on when he describes them as nonathletic! Wood sucks, too small and evidently not very strong either. Both runs we try from the one he gets blown up in a big way. Nothing new when our OL goes up against big physical DL. RG, RT are young and not NFL ready. Urbik is a marginal emergency fill-in. The left side is better but nothing to write home about; although RI was a great signing. As I said last year and the year before, we need to draft athletes at the OL positions (Big, strong, quick) and stop reaching for guys other teams passed on. Koujo, Richardson, Henderson, strike one, two and three. This has been a serious problem for a long long time predating 2009. ESPN: "A decent amount of pressure rests on the young shoulders of Eric Wood and Andy Levitre. The Buffalo Bills need these rookies to perform straight away for an offensive line that’s going through a serious overhaul slathered with skepticism. “We’re going to have five guys probably playing in new positions up front for the Bills,” Wood said ....Wood and Levitre are projected to be the starting guards, positions they weren’t known for in college." Some people on this board nearly cried when Levitre wasn't resigned and the Titans signed him to a six-year, $46.8 million contract that included a $10.5 million signing bonus and $13 million in guaranteed money. The Titans then traded Levitre to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2016 6th round draft pick. Why? Not big enough, not tough enough (6'2" 305 or same size as Wood)... Sign a free-agent OG (Lupati was a miss for us at 6'5" and 330lbs with good agility) is critical as is a RT. Draft a C who either beats out Wood or develops behind him for a season. Yeah, I know I'm living in the past. But the past is the current and likely the future if they don't build from the OL out. TT, Shady, Karlos, etc... look much better behind a premier OL.

We Need A Real QB
Bills Fan of St Augustine replied to The_Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Taylor may or may not be the answer, but he most certainly was not the reason we lost this game nor the season. My list includes: Very poor defensive play led by an overpaid and underachieving DL An offensive, offensive line. Can't punch it in from the one when your center is tossed around like a rag doll. Or make a comeback when your LT dives at a DEs feet and whiffs. Some point to Kelley as the last time we had a great QB and I agree, but he also had a great OL and lost when that OL got manhandled by massive DLs from Dallas and Washington. Gotta fix the holes in the OL. Coaching. Our play calling was very questionable throughout the year and especially early on when it mattered. The D tanking the way it did must be laid at the feet of the coaching staff. Injuries all around but especially in the D secondary hurt us later in the year. Big special team's gaffs that aren't the norm in Buffalo. All of the above come before Tyrod's play in what amounts to his rookie year. He will be back for next year and Manuel is still lurking. We do need to start drafting QBs in the 3-5 rounds and hope one hits. I liked Cousins coming out of Mich St and was disappointed when we didn't draft him. That said, he has struggled at the NFL level and only recently been anointed the Foreskins savior playing well but on a .500 team. QBs need time to develop and rarely do you get a finished product right out of college.
