  1. The coordinator doesn't necessarily have to be in the booth. But somebody does need to be in there on the offensive coaching side. If they aren't in there, you would undoubtedly miss a lot of opportunities to make adjustments. When guys like McDaniels stay on the sideline, I suspect they have some assistant up in the booth telling the coordinator on the sideline where the weaknesses are in the other team's defense (especially the secondary). You would also get a better feel for when a play was close to breaking it for 6. And that info is valuable because it may cause you to want to run that play again when otherwise you wouldn't. If Lynn is the guy on the staff who spots other teams' defensive weaknesses the best, then he should be up in the booth. And I do think it makes him better at his job. I don't see how you could possibly do that better from the sideline.
  2. I bet you the fantasy football reason is a bigger reason than people are giving it credit for. Before Fantasy Football, everyone had their team and they rode the emotional roller-coaster week to week according to how that team performed. Because of this emotional connection, fans formed very strong bonds to the team. And they had to watch them play every week. And they came to love the game stronger than ever because of it. With the invention of Fantasy Football, the emphasis switched from caring 100% about how your team did to caring 75% about how your team did and 25% about how your fantasy players did. It weakened that emotional bond people had with their team and thus - their emotional attachment to the game itself. Think about it. Are you as mad as you used to be when the Bills lose a game or have you learned to get over it more quickly without letting it drag you down all week? I am not a psychologist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
  3. Zach Brown and Preston Brown are brothahs from anotha motha
  4. Actions speak louder than words. Dude either gets his **** straight or else he will end up out of the NFL. If he keeps hanging out with other people who do drugs, inevitably he will slip up and end up getting suspended again. Dude needs a new crew.
  5. God I wish they would. And I wish they would do it right away so I can finally cut my cord and get rid of cable TV. Primary reason I keep it is to get the NFL channel.
  6. Oral history? Is that like a black book for homosexual men who keep track of scores? In that case, I understand why Bill has one. I wonder if Brady is in the book? Or perhaps that kid who got accused of playing with balls during that one game?
  7. Maybe that will happen. But it sure didn't happen for Hugh Hefner. NFL is football porn. You just won't get the live stuff.
  8. 19 Feels much more appropriate than 14 I would say. If they beat LA, then I could see them moving up near 14. And once or if the Bills beat another contender other than Arizona, then they will deserve to move into the top 12 or so. Just my opinion.
  9. You could hear people in the background saying "His knee is down!" But I don't think it was. Those kids ought to take a page out of the New England Patriots playbook and deflate those balls so they're easier to catch!
  10. Not necessarily. The value of a franchise is determined by supply vs. demand. And with the increasing number of billionaires in the United States, you can bet that there is an increase in demand for ownership of professional sports teams. Yet the supply of NFL teams is fixed and isn't increasing. That results in increased values for existing teams. A decrease in TV revenues may make it less profitable to own an NFL team. It does not mean the team will go down in value. It might just mean that the value of the team appreciates more slowly than it would if the TV revenues were increasing.
  11. It probably also has something to do with blocking schemes/assignments in the plays called by Lynn vs. the plays called by Roman. Awesome!
  12. The offensive line did play really well, especially in pass protection. The times it did break down Tyrod was able to escape. The thing I wonder about that game though is how much pressure New England was bringing other than the standard front. I wasn't looking for it or paying attention to it. I just noticed that the Bills line was holding up well. If Belichick took a page out of the Baltimore Ravens playbook, I am guessing he probably intended to bring less pressure and leave Tyrod in the pocket more often. That worked for the Ravens (the whole - make him play QB thing). And I am wondering how much of that played into our offensive line having the stellar day it did. Did anyone pay attention to that? How much was New England blitzing?
  13. Absolutely the game changes because the play calls would have changed. Assuming the score would have been different, which I am sure it would have been had Brady played, the Bills very likely would have been more aggressive in the second half of the game. There would have been more passing and play action. The game would have been a lot different. Even Rex's decision to kick the field goal instead of taking that penalty that would have given the Bills another shot on 3rd down might have been different. Rex may have opted to take the 3rd down retry if he had the mindset that he was going to need to score 30 points to win that game. Against Brissett he probably felt he could win that game with 20 points. Obviously he got it done with even less. The play calling would have been different. Just about everything that happened would have likely happened differently than it did. Nobody will ever know for sure what the outcome would have been. But the play calling most certainly would have been different.
  14. But he did this very same thing in Roman's last game and people torched him here for doing that. On the one play people were posting here as an example of Tyrod not reading defenses (the one where the linebacker whiffed on clay and left him open over the middle), it was clear that the go to guy on the play was Goodwin. The coverage on Goodwin was ridiculously soft. So Tyrod throws Goodwin the ball and a bunch of the "experts" here said Tyrod is not reading defenses. The play was incomplete, but the decision to throw to Goodwin was the best decision based on the pre-snap alignment of the defense. If you look at those other games, you can see he was also doing this in those games. It is not something new. And this is the very thing people were bitching about in those games. Here it is..
  15. This board is funny. Bills lose 2 games = tank the season - this team is the worst Bills team ever Bills win next 2 games = this is a playoff team - first two losses were a fluke Love it. Keep it coming. There is no doubt in my mind that the Bills are going to lay another egg at some point in the season (could be any game really) and the fanbase will shift their opinion back to being - Tyrod sucks - not good enough for NFL - Rex sucks and he is an embarrassment - his style of defense is outdated and won't work anymore and - this is once again the worst Bills team of all time - we should think about tanking again.
  16. You are correct and they already admitted as much. The defense is predefined coming into the game - Rex is largely responsible for that. Thurman is really just looking at his sheet to see what Rex would do in each situation based on down and distance and circumstances. Rex said it in an interview. We don't know how much say Thurman has in designing the defensive approach before each game, but knowing what we know about Rex, you would tend to think Rex is the primary mind behind it.
  17. If we want race issues to go away in America, how about we just quit mentioning people's color and just start referring to them as Americans.
  18. Glad these refs are throwing flags for the ridiculous celebrations in the endzone. Its about time.
  19. Wait ....was that the Steelers first play?
  20. The Bills got beat, but it certainly wasn't a blowout.
  21. I'd like to believe that, but I am not sure you are right there. The Bills should definitely have scored more than one TD today, especially considering they kept the other team out of the endzone 100% of the time. The Bills should have scored a lot more to be honest.
  22. Dude you totally just popped the bubble.
  23. You mean like the Music City Miracle?
  24. Well, the penalty could have been a lot worse and it could should have prevented Brady from playing in the playoffs that year. So I guess losing one game to the Bills because of his suspension is a pretty puny penalty to ultimately pay.
