Boldest move since benching Flutie

I grew up on Kelly, Marino, Esiason,Montana etc. Those were QBs. They led offenses worth celebrating. I celebrate Phillips’ Defenses. Those were fun to watch. The offense led by Flutie was not exceptional. The idea that Flutie was on the cusp of some miraculous era and he had the rug yanked out from under him is delusional. In the other thread I hoped for 17-25 for 225 and 1 TD from a rookie making his first start! A ROOKIE making his FIRST start. Or as some of you would say, the APEX of QBing? -

AS is Benching TT. And there are still a bunch of Butt Hurt TT lovers lingering in the shadows just hoping Peterman fails so they can shout "I told you so!" -

1999 Flutie last 8 starts stats Ravens 155 yards 18of 40 1 TD 3 Picks QBR 32.8 Skins 211 16of22 2 0 133 Phins 157 10of20 1 0 93.1 Jets 220 22of40 1 2 58.3 Pats 207 9of16 2 0 140.6 Giants 184 15of32 1 1 66.5 Cards 239 21of32 2 2 82.7 Pats 212 22of35 0 0 79.7 Total 1585 56.1% 10 8 85.8 2 good games (although 9of16 is sketchy) , Two bad games and a bunch of TTesque Dreck 239 was his highest output. I suppose its gonna be the old, "He was playing within the system" BS? They were 2nd in rushing attempts and scored 15 in the air(13 by Flutie) and 15 on the ground that year. Defense was 2 in points, 1 in yards. These rose colored glasses you all wear when you think back to the Original Saint Doug are sad. He was a crap, weak armed QB which is why the owner decided to force the switch. RJ turned out to be a bum also, this is not my argument. -
Hauschka misses practice with sore hip

Not cool!!! Figured at least 9 points from him this week with 15 being a definite possibility -

RJ couldn’t hand the ball off as well as DF? He won with a last minute comeback. -

So.... Back in the Bledsoe era, the week before we played NE in the second season, I got the name Buffalo Boy by one of the local radio guys as we were arguing about the upcoming Bill-Pats games. It was clearly meant to be pejorative but F him. So I own it. Mark from Charlotte just doesn’t have the same ring. As, already stated RJ turned out to be a Bum. In 98 though he wasn’t terrible when he played. Nor was Flutie. Then Flutie played Miami, Sub 60 Percentage completion, 1 TD, 1 BRUTAL pick and some other bad plays and lost the game. The following year Flutie got “ worser and worser”to use the local vernacular . His nickname could have been “ Bat Down” or “ Jump n Pump@ for that stupid fake he would do. He would not have won the Titans game!!! He had been figured out by the league already and the Titans were playing good D in the playoffs, regardless of what certain posters on here wish to believe. -
Predicting remaining record with Peterman vs. Tyrod
Buffalo Boy replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are so many questions: How conservative is the game plan? How much latitude are they giving a Rookie at the line of scrimmage? NP has shown the ability to make pre snap reads that seems to already surpass TT. Kinda getting sick of seeing Shady tackled for a loss. Does NP rise to this occasion? There has been no pressure on him till now and he’s appeared fairly composed. Does being a starter change this. Does a bad play or series change this. How does the Oline and receiving Corp react to him. After this weekend we will be able to answer these questions better but I know this. I haven’t looked forward to a game like this for a while. -
What (do you think) Peterman's stats are this week?
Buffalo Boy replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
17 of 25 for 225. 1 TD, O int. If he does have a pick it’s because our receiver initiates a tip drill. YAC will be better than we’ve seen, markedly. Run game will be 175 including 20+ from QB -
Where is the Tyrod breakdown? A bunch of us saw him for who he was before LAST season even started. In terms of Peterman, I think we will see by the end of this year and some of us will have a fairly decent idea. I want the kid to do well but if he is only competent then we need to take a QB early next year.

This isn’t about playoffs for me. This is about seeing what we have over a decent period of time to plan for next years draft. If he is GOOD. That would be awesome but I definitely reserve judgement a t this point. -

Exactly. I wasn’t singing the praises of Rob Johnson. In retrospect he was clearly a bum. But, when it’s time to move on and it happens hope springs anew. -

1999 Bills 24 th in pass attempts 19 in Yards passing 2 in rushing attempts 8 in yards rushing. The mediocre Titans D Held The: # 4 Colts Off. To 16 points # 7 Jags Off. To 14 points # 1 Rams Off. To 23 points Flutie like Tyrod Taylor needed to go as neither were ever going to take my favorite team to the promised land. -

The DEFENSE got those wins, just like TT being handed multiple short field earlier this year. Flutie couldn’t throw a ten yard out by the end of that season.
