  1. If you had to pick one player who contributed the most THIS SEASON to our success in ending the drought, who would it be? My pick is Tre White. If I was picking a unit, it’s the secondary without a doubt. Their play all season has been outstanding. It’s a tough call between Hyde, Poyer, and White for me, but I think it’s White. Tre has been played at an extremely high level every play this season. He’s all over the field, always in position, he’s a big play machine, and his positive attitude and leadership have been infectious with the rest of the team. With the quality of NFL QBs and wide receivers these days, corner is one of the most important positions on the field. It’s rare to see one as consistently good as White. I don’t think we’re in the playoffs without him.
  2. I had no idea Darby was from Gaithersburg!
  3. Wearing my Bills knit cap on the metro this morning, I was greeted with Buffalove from two WNY expats
  4. This. I agree it was stupid to spend a high first round pick on yet another RB for the Bills, but saying he was a bad player is just wrong. He was one of the best RBs in the NFL for a short time under Chan. If you could draw up plays that got him the ball in space, he was beyond elite. Running between the tackles... not so much. Ultimately, definitely not worth the position he was drafted at.
  5. Agreed. The big sack numbers aren't there, but he is always collapsing the pocket from his side. That still squeezes the quarterback and can force rushed, inaccurate throws or flush him. I think the lack of another top pass rusher on the other side has enabled teams to send the RB help Jerry's way more often than not, which is partially a reason for the drop off in sacks. They used to send the RB to Mario all the time and left Jerry 1:1 when he had his biggest years. Also, Frazier doesn't blitz much or run a lot of stunts with the DEs. I notice Kyle stunting a lot on the inside, but you don't see Jerry coming all the way around into the A/B gaps. I remember seeing that a lot more in the past. It may not be great with current personal, as Dareus was fast enough to stunt to the outside and replace Hughes when he was here. Maybe they don't feel great about our current DTs getting around in time to have contain on those type of stunts.
  6. Why is each sentence its own paragraph?
  7. Agreed. Not having Shady hurts, but it doesn't kill our chances. Murphy obviously doesn't have McCoy level big play ability, but he looked serviceable in there. Tyrod is going to have to have an above average game to win and would have had to even with Shady healthy. If the sprain is pretty bad, I'd almost rather they shut him down completely for the week. If it's a bad sprain, he'll probably just get a couple plays in before he's hobbled completely, and then the clock on recovery is reset. If we make it past the Jags, I'd rather have a chance at a more healed Shady back for a potential matchup with the Pats.
  8. True, though Dareus wasn't generating much pressure before we left. A lot of that is due to the fact that McD/Frazier don't blitz very often. It was easy to have him double teamed on any given pass play. It would be good to have a monster NT that can generate pressure, but a good linebacker who can blitz up the middle (if we ever called it) could also accomplish that.
  9. Jerry was all over the place this week. Bringing pressure almost every time, flying around and making tackles downfield. Love that guy. He would sure benefit from another premier edge rusher on the other side again, but he is still doing a great job of collapsing he pocket and not letting QBs get comfortable even though the sacks have dwindled.
  10. Mackey’s is the Bills Backers bar, but it’s closed today for some reason. Grand Central is your best bet in the district.
  11. Great throw tierod. Not even being able to put that sideline ball in bounds is JV.
  12. Jags will still be playing for the #2 seed.
  13. Gotta be the Panthers. Defense didn't give up a touchdown. Our offense couldn't score more than 3 points. Pathetic.
  14. That was was an epic call out. Amazing.
  15. This was the play where he jumped offsides. He knew he had jumped and the play was going to be dead. I don't think it was frustration with the play as much as he knew he didn't really need to tackle McCoy because the play was dead anyways. So he just made a half assed effort to tackle him but kept one arm free for the punch.
  16. That's how he does it. He is the master of hiding subtle cheap shots from the ref.
  17. Tre is awesome. We definitely hit on this pick. Not only a great player, but he seems to have a great, positive attitude that's infectious for the defense. Hopefully no sophmore slump on the guy like Darby.
  18. It's a long shot, but I agree there's a chance. I think they key is the offense. Brady and Gronk are going to score. Offense has to put drives together that end in 7 early, just like they did this week.
  19. I agree with that Murphy's homerism is over the top and hurts his credibility. He is clear in his calls for the play by play, but I really don't enjoy listening to him very much. His excitement and attempts at having a unique personality while calling the game seem very forced to me. There's a lot of announcers out there who make the game fun to listen to/do it better IMO.
  20. That was 100% intentional. He already knew the play was dead and he was offsides, so he didn't need to actually try to tackle McCoy. Saw a good chance to put a shot on Taylor that he might be able to get away with. It's how he does and who he is.
  21. It was nothing remarkable, but in my opinion she demonstrated good knowledge of things that have happened with the team this year with the trades and the front office, the ups and downs with Taylor, how good Tre White has been... things of that nature. Again, not insight that I was blown away with, but I've certainly listened to many Bills games where I was positive the play by play and/or color guy hadn't watched a game all year, hadn't bothered to read whatever memo they're handed the week before the game, and offered just completely wrong takes on various things about the Bills. I didn't get that from Mowins' commentary. I will say, as some others have mentioned, she does have a little bit of that Marv/Kenny Albert type inflection which I don't really care for. To me, she's not as annoying as those two, but I see where folks are coming from in terms of personal annunciation taste.
  22. Even though you used a very compelling combination of bold and caps, I don't agree that she made so, so, so many mistakes. She accidentally called Taylor McCoy once or twice. That was the only thing I caught. Announcers do things like that all the time. Happens in almost every single game. I was watching the CBS post game, and Bill Cowher made the same mistake (accidentally calling the quarterback the receivers' name) while doing the recap of a game. Can't remember who followed Cowher (Boomer or someone), but they totally missed their queue and botched the whole highlight clip. Instead of getting things back on track, everyone in the studio started yelling at once incoherently for about 10 seconds. My point is that it happens all the time to most announcers. I thought Mowins was exceptionally knowledgeable about the Bills and really did a good job talking about aspects of the team that most announcers don't care enough about to do their homework on.
  23. I'm pretty much in agreement with this. There have been some other all time great players who've been Bills during the drought, but they walked on us or were traded when contract time came around. Peters and Marshawn are the ones that come to mind.
  24. Way too early to label him a bust. He's definitely had some struggles, but he's also made some nice plays. If he's still dropping this many passes after 2 full NFL seasons, it will start to look more like a bust.
  25. I agree that they are likely to not show up in week 17 and we should beat them, but you never know. They just may have some pride to close out the season. They are a talented team when they want to be. They were moving the ball at will on the ground and through the air for most of the first half vs us, but after their long drives stalled in the red zone for FGs, they seemed to kind of give up. And Cutler just sucked after the first few drives. They're a talented team when they want to play though. It depends on which team shows up. But yes, I agree that Gase is a terrible HC.
