  1. When Tasker started getting regular reps at WR, that marked the beginning of the end in terms of the Bills having top-flight talent. Excellent football player and not horrible at WR by any means, but no way someone to rely on offensively.
  2. Colts game was in Tenn yesterday.... And have we learned nothing other than Indy ALWAYS ends up 11-5 and in the play-offs?
  3. I look at their offseason moves more as " What the hell.....lets go for it!" vs. having glaring holes to plug. The Harvin signing in particular.
  4. Valid concerns, but I would say our last few drafts have been as good as anybody's. Moving forward I feel good about it, too. As tricky as playing the FA game is, we can't avoid it in today's NFL. Having Pegula around is a very nice luxury.
  5. This is an example of why it's extremely rare to get an out-and-out steal in the draft. You have to cross your fingers and hope some of the imperfections that scared other teams away can be overcome. (Vontaze Burfict = yes; Johnny Football = no (so far).
  6. That's what I'm thinking. This isn't high school football with 2 corners playing every down. I would bet we have 3+ CBs on the field more times than not. So this really isn't what I would consider a luxury pick like its being painted.
  7. He did seem to get better over time. That said, he generally gave the impression that he was in over his head as an NFL GM. Not unusual for the Bills organization, pre-Pegula.
  8. If comparing the potential 2015 team to last year's, McCoy is a lot more than a "slight plus" over Kiko. Alonso didn't play a down. And keeping a UFA as good as Hughes deserves a little more credit than you're giving.
  9. That was my first thought too. That was a scary .5 of a second.
  10. I agree. They look great on a nice sunny day at the Ralph, too. What shade of blue would you call it that they use? It's really unique compared to all the other teams'.
  11. Even if you accept the comparisons you make, what is the point? Marrone left. Of all the candidates for the job with previous HC experience, tell me which one DIDNT have similarly sub-par seasons at the end?
  12. If you look back on their season, the Jets were actually a lot more competitive than we probably think. They only got blown out three times- twice by us- and came damn close to beating the Pats twice, the Broncos, and the Packers. In 2013 it was a downright miracle that they went 8-8, according to preseason analysis. I don't have an answer to how they handled their QBs, but I kind of lean toward giving them a pass since they were both pretty bad.
  13. Not exactly... I would rather it be 2nd and goal (or whatever down) from the 1 foot line-which is basically what is being gained by stretching it away from your body- rather than a turnover. I would also hazard to say that 99% of the time a guy who scores while stretching it out would have done so just keeping it tucked.
  14. After yesterday's Dez Bryant fiasco, this is a rule I would strictly enforce if I was an HC. Unless it's 4th and goal, it just isn't worth it. So many of these guys are getting the ball punched out, or fumbling it through the end zone it seems. RJ 3 had it happen against the Giants, and Sammy almost did the same thing against the Phins, just to name a couple of examples. You can tell that's what Dez was trying to do, rather than just secure the catch.
  15. I'm impressed with the way the FO has handled things the last couple of years. An aggressive HC search that resulted in locking in Marrone, who was a hot commodity at the time (I know!); trading back in Round 1 and still getting their top QB choice; replacing the late-leaving Pettine with Schwartz; making the trade up to get Sammy; reeling in Orton at the last minute (who was probably the best guy on the market, fwiw); and now responding to Marrone's bailing out by hiring Rex after another thorough interview process. Some of these moves won't work as it's a game of speculation, but I like the conviction.
  16. These kinds of hits really have nothing to do with the intention of the blocker.... Wood just has to basically stand there and lean forward. It's Matthews' momentum that is responsible for the impact. Other than try to completely avoid him, there's nothing that Wood could have done that would end up in a different result for Matthews.
  17. I think the argument is the timing of the penalties. I remember in our first game v. The Patsies, the refs started calling a bunch of penalties on them in garbage time.
  18. Does anybody get the feeling that the coaching staff always seems to tense up during any "big" games? Granted there haven't been that many, but it extends back to the previous regimes of Jauron and Gailey too. You can see them trying to keep the game close and winning the field position battle, which ends up with our offense punting like a dozen times and us being down 24-3 going into the 4th. Would love to see us open things up and let it fly on both sides of the ball this Sunday.
  19. If we are serious about becoming an actual contender (not just a team that eventually squeaks into the play-offs and gets immediately eliminated), this is a perfect test for the Bills. Popular opinion at this moment is that we probably aren't at Contender status yet, but that can change quickly. There shouldn't be any excuses (famous last words), and there is DEFINITELY no reason to hold anything back on either side of the ball. Bring it on!!
  20. 2010 Miami Dolphins. 86 receptions 1014 yds in 14 games (Chad Henne at QB) 2011 Miami Dolphins 81 receptions 1214 yds in 16 games ( Matt Moore and Chad Henne at QB)
