Alpha's Week 1 recap and film review
Kirby Jackson replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Omg, hilarious!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 This place is just better when people are honest. I’ve said that for years. We are giving the WRs, who played well, an A+ for 151 yards. We are giving the TEs, who had 2 catches, an A. We are giving the RBs, who averaged 3.8 YPC an A-. I am not going to apologize for holding them to a higher standard. Everyone did their job and Josh made the plays to win the game. To be clear, no one was particularly bad but this isn’t the game to celebrate their performance. They did the job. Gabe at KC was an A+. This didn’t look like that… It was fine. They did well. -

Oh yeah, me the box score googler 😂😂😂. I’ve been called out for a lot of things on here but this is the first time I’ve been called out for not paying enough attention 😂😂. For context, Gabe vs. KC was an “A+” performance. You don’t get an “A” with 1 catch for 11 yards as the number one option. In the words of Sean McDermott, “the standard is the standard.” I thought Cook played a nice game Sunday. The design of the run game wasn’t perfect but he made the most of those chances. He averaged 3.7 YPC. That’s not an A-!! An A- is like 25 carries for 105 and a TD. This game was a game where people did what they needed to, and Josh made every play that had to be made. The offense played well. They did their job. Outside of Josh, no one was above and beyond (Dawkins was next). We shouldn’t be popping champagne for doing the job at a decent level. This just doesn’t feel like an A-: -

I did go back through it again (not that I need to justify it to you). Kincaid saw a bunch of attention. If you’re the top receiving threat in an offense you can’t have 1 catch for 11 yards. That certainly doesn’t get an “A” grade!! Travis Kelce has been the focal point of defenses for a long time. He rarely, if ever, posts that stat line. Kincaid took some pressure off everyone else and they blocked well. That’s why it’s a “C” performance for the TEs. That means average. We are talking about “sticking to our guns.” I said that the WR group would have a few guys that outperformed their fantasy position (55-60). I said that I could see them being like Tyler Lockett who had 79/894/5. If you took each guys game and extrapolated it out (I know this isn’t realistic) you’d have: Coleman 68/867, Shakir 51/714, Samuel (not enough snaps to tell anything). That is the TOP of your depth chart. That is NOT an “A+.” They did what was asked and played well. -

You can’t have 151 yards and be an A+ 😂😂😂. You can’t have 251 and be an A+. They were fine. They were a “B.” I don’t want to do this all year. They caught a few balls each. We shouldn’t throw a parade for 5 guys combining for 151. They did their job. The TEs were not particularly good. They were covered but if we are depending on these guys they can’t have 1 catch. -

WRs got an A+?!? They combined for 151 yards. We all know that you’ve been the most outspoken advocate for how great this group is. That’s a “B” performance if we are being real. They were fine. Can we please not do this all year? Make up fake grades to fit a narrative we are trying to pass through. Can we just agree, they were fine. The TEs were in “C” range.- 155 replies

Not trying to derail this or change the topic but had an interesting name to throw out there. Diontae Johnson is an interesting name to watch for us at the deadline. He has a different skill set than some of our other guys. He’s an elite route runner and good after the catch. His ability to separate reminds me of some guys Josh had a lot of success with. Johnson can handle some volume. He’s a FA after this year and on a team that is atrocious. You could add him for basically nothing once the Panthers are officially eliminated. Even if he’s just here for the stretch run, it’ll cost you like a 6th for a 7th swap. His current contract is cheap. He’s not the alpha that they need but he would fit nicely with the guys that we currently have.

When Benson bought the (now) Pelicans, he tried to buy the Jazz name back. Obviously, it didn’t happen. -
Receivers the Bills could go after?

They announced Mack Hollins as a starter as he ran out of the tunnel. I don’t remember what formation they used but I sat there, with my own two eyes, and watched him announced as a starter. What was encouraging or surprising? I think Shakir is pretty good. He was pretty good yesterday. I think Samuel has some ability. He was clearly slowed by the injury and only played like 17 snaps. Coleman played a decent game and made a big play. He was fine too. All of those guys are on the 800-900 yard trajectory that I expected. They were fine and have Josh Allen to elevate them. If Shakir and Coleman are the players that they were yesterday, and Samuel gets healthy, they have an okay WR room sans the number 1. That’s EXACTLY what I expected and that’s EXACTLY what it looked like. If you plug an alpha into that group, it becomes a decent group. If you go back through these dozens of pages you’ll see me saying that dozens of times. It’s exactly what I expected. As of now, it’s a bottom 3 WR room with potential to become like a bottom 10 group. Josh Allen will get the most out of everyone around him. He’s going to be the MVP and make decent players a lot of money. -

As someone that spent 13 years in New Orleans, I’m not happy with the Kendrick Lamar choice (at all). I like Kendrick quite a bit too. New Orleans is the home of American Music. You need a big name to headline the Super Bowl. This absolutely should have been Lil Wayne, with John Batiste, St. Aug Marching 100 and Trombone Shorty (amongst others). This should be New Orleans. The NFL missed the mark here. -
Kick it in the end zone every single time. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze of trying to defend the kickoffs. Until they make a touchback the 40, just kick it in the end zone.

Week 2 - Bills at Dolphins - Game Week Thread
Kirby Jackson replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Should be a tough game on the short week and with Josh hurting. Yesterday’s game was so important though to take some pressure off this week. This is a bit of a “house money” game imo. Go get the job done!! -
He can have my left hand. I don’t really need it.

Receivers the Bills could go after?
Kirby Jackson replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nope, Coleman has a chance to be a number 2. Hollins is a scrub that started. Watching him get announced was embarrassing. His numbers will be far beyond his talent. It’s a matter of opportunity. That’s been my point. Shavers/Isabella/Hamler/Cain could all do what he does with the same opportunity. Coleman has some talent. He’s a high ceiling and low floor guy. He gets little to no separation. He’s good on crossers and has good ball skills. It looked almost exactly like I expected. Those guys, and the coaches, are so lucky to have Josh Allen. He covers so many flaws. He’s incredible. Rousseau appears to be taking a step and the OL is pretty good. This team isn’t particularly talented or well coached. They just happen to have one of the best couple players in the game at QB. I said somewhere between 9-8 and 11-6. I’ve seen nothing to make me think differently. -

Up and ready!! We’ve told everyone that we will be there between 8:30-9. Lol, this happens every home opener. Inevitably, I’ll be ready to go by like 6:30 and she’s going to be like, “thought we were leaving at 8:15?” That’s one of the hardest stretches of the year. LFG!! -

I guess my philosophy is to kick the can as long as you need to while Josh is in his prime. This is your window. The Saints famously started this and it was for a similar reason, Brees in his prime. They probably should have won 2 Super Bowls in that window. While you have Josh, you need to be all in. -

I preferred Worthy over Coleman (by a lot). Coleman was a couple of tiers below for me (around the 15th best WR). I’ve seen nothing from either to change my mind but it’s obviously incredibly early. I hope to be wrong. -

Lol, I won’t be jumping off the couch, pumping my fist. I only care about the Bills. I want whatever is best for them (regardless of how painful it is).
