  1. I know we have a lot of music snobs here, self included...thought there was some funny stuff in here... http://flavorwire.com/200333/the-30-harshest-musician-on-musician-insults-in-history/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=flavorwire&utm_campaign=standard-post My favorite...Nick Cave on Red Hot Chili Peppers: “I’m forever near a stereo saying, ‘What the !@#$ is this garbage?’ And the answer is always the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”
  2. BBB give Sopranos another chance...they have been re-running it on one of the HBO sub-channels weeknights (HBO Signature I think)...I have purposely tried to avoid re-watching too much of it over again, because, one of these days, I plan on watching it again from the start..but when I do stumble upon it, I have a really hard time turning it off. I don't think there has ever been a better drama on tv. I think James Gandolfini and Edie Falco are two of the best actors I have ever seen on the small screen. My appreciation for Edie Falco has grown a lot...I watch her Showtime series "Nurse Jackie"...it is solid show that doesn't insult your intelligence...my gf loves it...Falco is incredible in it, even though I would never say it is a great show...just a really good one. You would think Little Steven would be enough to lure you in.... I remember seeing Bruce, during the Sopranos hey-dey...I had pretty good seats...and the whole time I just could not stop looking at Van Zandt and thinking of him as Sylvio Dante. As for "Mad Men", I agree it is getting harder and harder to like any of the characters... but for me, anyways, that isn't necessary for a great story. Honestly, the older I get, liking people in general takes much more of an effort than it used to... Roger is always entertaining. Pete is just unpleasant to watch/listen to ("you were always a sour little boy" his mother says!)...I don't mind meandering story lines, and I realize it isn't over yet, but IMO, this season has been bogged down a little too much in extraneous story-lines that aren't all that interesting, or revealing. At this point, it looks like Sally is being royally screwed up by her parents, and it is kind of heart-breaking in a way. It seems like on most of these shows, viewers hate most of the female characters. I feel a lot of empathy for Betty, as unpleasant as she can be. I am predicting Don, uncurls from his ball, leaves the advertising business, and we spend the last season, watching him drive cross country to, say, Joshua Tree, where he ends himself.
  3. As I recall, what made Kevin's injury so "horrific" was the fact that it was such a run of the mill play, and looked like nothing really...but it caused so much damage.
  4. Anyone just hear Terry Pegula on GR? The interview just completed, so it is not in their audio vault yet...but just curious of your impressions. I think it is the first time I have heard him being interviewed, as opposed to doing a press conference. I liked some of what he had to say, but was surprised, a little, about how awkward he was communicating. Not a knock, just an observation. On a hockey note, the most noteworthy thing he said, he wants Vanek and Miller to return, but cautions, the players themselves will have a say in whether they are in a Sabres uniform next season or not. Also seems as though he is aware of the criticism of others that he "overpays" for players...but it is his team, he will run it as he wants. Also said that some of the players work a lot harder than fans realize, and he is a strong believer in rewarding hard work. Nothing earth-shattering I realize, just thought it was the first time I had a good feel for the real Terry Pegula, as opposed to a guy waxing poetic about Sabres history. Many of the questions came from fans, so as you can imagine, some negativity. Pegula seemed most defensive about the decision to keep Darcy. I will link the interview when it becomes available.
  5. They just need to create better education.
  6. That was pretty bad...I was about to give her the benefit of a doubt thinking she realized about halfway through that she wasn't making any sense...but her self- congragatulatory "nailed it" smile at the end made me think better of it. I almost started a thread, a while ago, when we were going list crazy, asking to name your favorite "viral video". All defernce to Miss Utah, but Miss South Carolina still wears the tiara for me. I didn't even know what a "viral video" was, until Miss SC taught me! It is close though...
  7. Agreed. As much as I hate the Bruins (for me, the NHL equivalent to the Dolphins), I love the way they play. But, still pulling for the Blackhawks...I guess...
  8. Is anyone caught up? Don Draper is going to hell...and he is taking Dick Whitman with him... As anyone who knows me here, I love the Sopranos....also a big fan of "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men"...probably my 3 favorite shows of the last 20 years, if not all time. One thing that seperates the Sopranos from the other two: even though all three shows have a true "anti-hero" as the main character, Tony Soprano is the only one I found myself rooting for deep down, right through the end. He was every bit as miserable, and did many more ****ty things...but I felt more empathy for him than I do Walter White or Don Draper. Loved how Pete is going to use Bob Bensons' "secret" as a tool, rather than an obstacle... he learned from Dick Whitman.
  9. From everything I have heard, McGahee is a very hard trainer. An old friend of mine works at the University of Miami, in the athletics department. He told me that McGahee and Frank Gore are two of the hardest workers to ever come through the doors, during his time there. Many UM NFL alumni hold their own conditioning and "training camps". Apparently, from a pure conditioning and strength aspect, McGahee and many others feel this helps them more than voluntary workouts with their NFL teams. It may not do much to convince NFL fan experts that their allegence to the team is as strong as the fans, but they are voluntary for a reason...I don't recall McGahee ever being out of shape. People forget, before his injury during the bowl game, McGahee was viewed by many as an "elite, generational" type running back. Sure, the Bills had Travis Henry (still one of my favorite Bills from the "dark years"), but the Bills knew, maybe more than fans at that time, that Henry was a disaster waiting to happen off the field. So, I just don't view the McGahee pick as all that crazy, or wasteful. Sure, the Bills might have other needs, but I think TD was taking the calculated gamble that McGahee would pan out (which he did, to a less specatacular degree than might have been hoped) and they could unload Henry in a year, while he still had some value.
  10. Part of that might be in part due to injuries and aging vets... just a thought. They got a bit long in the tooth as I recall, especially on defense, didn't they?
  11. As CJ Spiller has (rightfully) ascended amongst Bills fans, Fred Jackson has fallen off the radar, it seems.
  12. Oh please....
  13. Imagine if everyone apologized for misinformation they posted here....there would have to be a separate wing on the stadium wall for "mea culpas"...it would be more popular than "Off the Wall"! No worries CGF!
  14. No, you are obviously sane (unlike Pinto K) and you still do it....
  15. I have to believe this isn't true the more I think about it...besides the lack of links, it seems Berman just re-newed his contract with ESPN in 2012...and this would be such a major move, I think they would not have likely made it on the eve of the NFL season....this would be like KFC firing the Colonel! Who would sign somebody to big contract extension, and then let them walk less than a year later?
  16. If it is true (major ESPN staff cuts have been rumored for months now) I have no doubt he will be on the NFL Network in the blink of an eye, if he wants the gig. Remember, NFLN was willing to break the bank to get him a few years ago, but he stuck with ESPN for less money, out of loyalty.
  17. Jeez...I probably know you! Was it possible the place was called, either officially, or unofficially September's Pastime Cafe?
  18. Huh...don't know why, but I remember it as Septembers...my memory is **** these days. But, that was the show. So, I guess it was Pastimes. Being a Stones fan, I remember them doing a sloppy, sloppy version (Chef would have hated it! Sloppy does sloppy ) of "Start Me Up"...that set-list from Pastimes looks right. Somewhere, I have used to keep a list of every band I went to see, the date, the opener, etc etc I gave up about 15 years ago...but it was a long list.
  19. I saw them at Septembers' Cafe back in Buffalo, when "Color Me Impressed" was their "big hit"...still maybe my favorite Replacements song. Saw them a year or two later in Rochester, as some converted church (very odd, very cool show...very drunk band on the alter)...then I saw them open for Keith Richards and the X-Pensive Winos at the Brendan Byrne Arena in New Jersey...awful venue, but Keith and the 'Mats overcame! Had killer seats, which always helps in a hockey arena.
  20. Promo is the best fan...and I mean that!
  21. A friend of mine posted about the Chicago show, and was really excited, but then says "only trouble is, it seems like there are 15-20 other bands I want to see, playing at the same time"...my response, which made him pause and think "name 15-20 bands you would rather see than the Replacements! Really think about that"
  22. That was the one that got to me the most too, for the same reason. I was thinking about what they were thinking when that picture was taken...all the things they thought they would be telling people about their experience...life can be short. Also, seeing Lennon siging an autograph for the guy who would murder him just a little while later...
  23. Well...she was a little younger as Laura Petrie..and fashions were very different...she always had killer legs...if I knew how to post pictures in this thread, I would!

  25. You would think that would be enough...but rumour had it they were interested in Ahmad Bradshaw just a few days ago, before the Colts singed him. Could have just been one of those "agent-leaked" stories to drive up his price a little..but you would think an agent would pick a team with bigger needs at RB than the Pats. As someone said, any time a good football player is available, the Pats are interested...whether it is a glaring need or not. BB likes vets, especially at RB.
