  1. we should be fine run blocking... but i do worry about pass protection. we didn't have many sacks because they orchestrated the offense to get rid of it quickly specifically to avoid it, cuz they knew we were not great at it. Kolb/Manuel may not be so adept, and even if they are, it is limiting to the offense. AND we just lost their best pass protector in Levitre, so you are counting on Glenn to improve just to even it out. sure, they brought in some UDFA guys.. but that's kind of the defintion of a ? soooo... hardly think this is a non-issue and have serious concerns about RT being any better than mediocre.
  2. 3 are solid, but not great at this point. 2 big holes at LG and RT... Pears is terrible IMO, and we have no legit LG option without moving someone, or drafting signing someone, which will still be a big ? maybe Sanders can fill one but we have no idea really. maybe Hairston can move to Guard, but again, no idea. i think it is a pretty big concern, but they were NEVER going to draft a GUard at 8. if you don't want to pay one, why would you draft them high? woulda loved an OT but the big 3 were gone. looking like maybe a patch job this year, or at least a "let's see what we got".
  3. about as worthwhile as the one spent on the kicker... or the one spent on T-Jax... or the one spent on moving up 2 spots for TJ, i think Te'o goes 45 to Oakland and we needn't worry. but i would not have a HUGE problem with it if the WRs and CB i want are gone.
  4. i disagree. one good explanation for Pats not getting over the hump in last 8 years or so, may be lack of top talent. this trading down gets them more picks, not better ones. i LOVE that they aren't picking until 51... the odds of that player being a difference maker drop, and the Pats have been no better at getting good players than anyone else. tons of busts or also-rans. they win cuz of Bel and Brady.. drafting has been thoroughly average, and think their strategy is unsound.
  5. i'm sure Jackson would love to know he is tied with Aaron Corp.
  6. too big of a deal on this... he knew all along he might be there all night, and said it'd be fine. of course he's still disappointed, but i don't think not coming back for day 2 and being the only guy in the room means he's a quitter. it just does not sound like much fun!
  7. unless they think Byrd is gone, no way they draft Safety this early. it's still deep, and they have 3 they like right now. also no on Woods... he does not fit what they've said they wanted all along; a big tall go up and get it guy. large catch radius is not Woods forte. they'll address 2 of these i think: WR - Keenan Allen, Justin Hunter TE - Zach Ertz CB - Jonathon Banks maybe, just maybe, a pass rusher like Jamie Collins if the above are gone.
  8. and this is my favorite part... maybe he's on to something, lol: "Not saying women are the root of all evil or anything like that, but Satan came to the woman first. The responsibility falls on him. We could all be walking in a totally different life if Adam had stepped up and said, 'No, we're not gonna do this; we're gonna honor God and honor our covenant that we have with him. We're not gonna eat this fruit.' " Hand also drew from Genesis in describing Eve to the young women in the congregation. "It's our calling to be completely submissive," she said. "That's an art that women have lost."
  9. meh... i'll disagree somewhat. first, rodgers and wilson are nowhere near the bible thumpers that Landry is. read this: http://www.tulsaworld.com/article.aspx/OUs_Landry_Jones_and_Whitney_Hand_embrace_role_model/20110504_92_b1_cutlin35921 regardless, i do want to like the personalities of the QB, and if one annoys me, then sure... why can't it a factor in someone's preference? not saying Landry is a bad guy, probably the opposite, but if you don't like a guy, hey... doesn't have to only be about on-field ability.
  10. Miliner could be injury prone... Warmack could be like Mike Williams... Dion Jordan may never put on enough weight and be a combo of maybin/curry.. (though i doubt it) tough to say Floyd or Lotulelie won't at least be solid.. and Cooper. There's probably some "guaranteed" starters if not pro-bowlers.
  11. But going back to my Dalton example, where would he be without them also taking AJ Green in the first? Maybe nowhere, maybe looking like a bust. They were much better off doing what they did, rather than taking Dalton in 1st and then some 2nd round WR. The Bills mistakes were not rating Kaep higher than Aaron W., and not having R.Wilson higher than TJ, etc.. or maybe just overvaluing Fitz. if you can't evaluate players/QB's, then ok... i guess you might want to go ahead and take 'em way early, but i also think then it really doesn't matter in that case, yer probably going to stink anyway.
  12. thanks.. unfortunately it's probably a losing battle here. if you love a QB, and feel really sure about him, this isn't an issue. but taking a chance on someone at expense of someone that is more of sure thing isn't the way to build. i want one too but EVALUATING the QB's, and the other players, properly is the key... not just taking one.
  13. the Bills have 3 safeties that i think they feel good about, and have said it's the deepest draft in years for safeties on top of it. don't get your hopes up they take one early.
  14. i don't care so much about the other teams as the story of the players and how it all plays out for them. the personal aspect. and seeing how right/wrong people are... and how teams are built. yes, it's largely a waste of time in the end since the vast majority amount to nothing in NFL after the 2nd round, but so are movies and tv shows. it's the drama and to me the best reality show on tv.
  15. So you are going to be pretty upset when the Bills address their CB need in first 2 or 3 picks. Smith is built much thicker... DJ is a couple inches taller, a little heavier... they're small, but not AS small. Best chance to move down is for someone that wants Austin, so that may be why they are talking him up. Not that he can't help, but i think they want someone bigger... they've said so.
  16. pig out in front of the big tv on some not so healthy foods like mozz stix and tater tots. and yes, i watch the whole thing... on both channels, lol. would like to go to a draft party sometime, but not at the Ralph.
  17. No no no... Bills not picking those guys in rounds 2 or 3 was the bad move. Not taking them in round 1 was the RIGHT move. If the Bengals take Dalton in round 1, they don't get AJ Green!! And then Dalton sux and don't make the playoffs and they look stupid and draft a new QB. If SD drafts Brees in top 5, they don't get Ladanian Tomlinson... and would proceed to suck. Kaepernick in first and they don't get Aldon Smith. Those teams were smart taking QB at value spots, not for reaching, and allowing themselves to put talent around that QB. If there is THE GUY take him, but if you feel yer just taking a chance, take him in the 2nd.
  18. no one remembers, but we were good w/o doing that too since Kelly was not top 10. i think you could just as easily say the good teams do not reach. people say in retrospect no one would care if Kaepernick was a reach if you take him in the first now, but in that same retrospect they did exactly the right thing cuz he WAS there in round two, and they got Aldon Smith in round 1. do they make the SB w/o him? evaluate players correctly, and stick to it. Bills problem is they have not done that. If they did, they'd have Kaepernick instead of Aaron Williams, or Russell Wilson instead of TJ Graham.
  19. i don't really think, or think that Bills think, that Guards or 175 lb receivers are value at 8 either. If OT or Jordan is there, they are, but otherwise... maybe Mlliner. Some D-lineman will be, but doubt Bills forego needs for a position of relative strength, which is why they are likely desperate to trade down. If not, go with best combo of need/value... QB or CB.
  20. I will, because Buddy said he's not leaving until we get a QB. If we don't take one this year, it would seem he's staying around another year and I don't really want that.
  21. Yeah, the Rams trade would pretty much be for them getting Austin. Or Vaccaro. Whoever. I like Eifert there too... but it's more what I think they might do, and the Bills and they looooovvve defensive backs. Also I base a lot of this on the character traits Whaley said coaches wanted, and not sure Honey Badger fits that... Hayden and Taylor seem to though. Rams GM love trading around it seems. And many think Austin won't be there at 16. Hey, not saying it's a lock, but they have ammo and extra picks.
  22. Ok, I know we probably don't really need a new thread on everyone's predictions, but I wanted to get in on the fun. ok, i probably should have built up to that and not give it away at the top, but whatever. here's the deal. they knew everything they needed to know about Nassib, and probablly knew they could get him. yet they still talked from the beginning like the QB class was flawed and they may not take one at 8. we forgot. then they signed Kolb and people said it again... we forgot again... we brought in 9 other QB's, some of which had no chance of going at 8. why bother, if we knew we wanted Nassib? or Nassib or Smith? answer that fits best is they simply aren't in love with Nassib. without further adieu.... TRADE: 8 and 41 for Rams 16 and 22 and 184 (6th) 1 (16) . QB Matt Barkley (USC) - Maybe still Nassib. But if they like Nassib more, why go to such lengths to talk about this guy? And noted more than once how much time they spent with him. Marrone likes him and may want to work with someone new. I almost wanted to project a CB here, and may still happen, but Buddy probably wants to say he got a top QB before they push him out the door. Could be a 2 horse race, maybe 3 with Geno (really quiet on that front, no idea Bills' opinion). And I'm assuming OLB Dion Jordan and the OT's are gone... Other Possibilities: QB Ryan Nassib, QB Geno Smith, CB DJ Hayden, CB Jamar Taylor, CB Dee Milliner .............. 1 (22). CB DJ Hayden (Houston) - If they don't go QB in first then they do here. To make sure I get one right I should project one again but I won't cheat. Got the skills, intangibles, everything, but will he here? There are a couple other solid CB's and WR's too.. Most won't be around, but hopefully one of them will. Due to his major injury, I'll pick this guy. Other Possibilities: WR Justin Hunter, CB Jamar Taylor, QB Tyler Wilson Bonus Pick: TE Zach Ertz (Stanford) This doesn't fit with that particular trade but if they went down a few to pick up an extra 2nd? This will enable them to address TE, or at least make sure they get their choice at these other spots. This guy models his game after old 49'ers guy Brent Jones... nothing wrong with that. And it really doesn't change any of my other picks. Other Possibilities: ILB Kevin Minter (LSU)... IF the Bills don't sign Karlos Dansby. ............... 3. WR Chris Harper (KSU) - Read some positive reports on TJ Graham yesterday, but this as long as they can wait for a big guy. Strong, fights for ball, with a big catch radius. At 6'1" and 229, almost ore of a H-back like Dickerson but with better hands and with TE possibly neglected, that may not be such a bad thing. Other possibilities: WR Aaron Dobson (Marshall), CB Darius Slay ............ 4. OLB/DE John Simon (Ohio St.) - Undersized DE is strong, can move, and seems like a better version of Ryan Moats (better competition). Versatile, maybe even inside. They need some pass-rushing options at least for depth. Other Possibilities: TE Matt Furstenburg ................ 5. S Cooper Taylor (Richmond) 6. What's the point? BPA and who knows. So that's it. Order your jerseys now. Or not. I may change my mind tomorrow.
  23. i thought of this, though can't say i'd bet on it unless they trade down a few picks. hard to believe they really want to wait until 41 for a QB. if they trade down, i could see them going after Ertz with an early 2nd rounder instead.
  24. 30 or 31 just sounds too far. the price would be HUGE to move up that far, it would almost have to include next year's #1, which would be tough for them to do and tough for us to accept. PLUS, you won't have your pick of QB's and would be willing to settle for your 3rd or so choice... or even if you wanted a CB or OLB or WR, it really isn't a good spot for that either. the Rams like to move around a lot... why not their first 2 picks (16,22) for OUR first 2 picks (8,41) ? that is actually very close in value.
  25. Jets and Jags probably worse.. a few others similar... but Dolphins? no, i think they look ok. besides, it matters little now when the soon-to-be-starter will be drafted within 2 days. assess again after that.
