  1. you could say it's open to interpretation, but i've been listening to these things a while and i think most agreed it was not all that favorable. i can't go to these places from work to give links, but i think first comments were on Bills luncheon last week (trasnscript on Buff Bills website) and then yesterday scout talked about him (WGR website.. they have the audio). they mention some positives, but generally if they mention as many doubts/reservations... they are not sold on a guy and it's about as negative as they tend to be.
  2. Funny, but listening to the scouts, Manuel would be the one guy they don't take for SURE. They practically dismissed him. Either a great smokescreen, or maybe they asked him to do that to help throw others off the scent. Hard to believe anyone could make that pick after listening to the Bills publicly.
  3. Sometimes TE's last longer if they aren't elite... happens a lot. If we manage an extra 2nd rounder in a trade down, i could see Bills using one on Ertz. That's the only pick that makes much sense, to be honest.
  4. i don't see any room for a top 10 inside D-lineman... in 3-4 we have 3 DL posiitons and 4 or 5 people now that will get lots of playing time. Dareus/KW are fixtures. Branch will play half the time, Carrington some snaps... and Troup is still in play. in 4-3, that leaves even less room, as Dareus, KW, and Branch and hopefully Troup all split time at DT. 4 bodies, 2 spots. i just can't see a inside D-lineman on the radar at all, cuz we need to utilitize what we have, not minimize it.
  5. Patterson was ahead of Austin until a couple weeks ago.... with Austin going to Vikings at 23 and Patterson was mocked to us plenty. He may very well end up slipping, but don't believe everything you hear the 2 weeks before the draft.. so many lies.
  6. i think they would not trade down if there was a QB they wanted that bad. if they do, its an indication they have a few rated similarly and don't mind missing out on one. also, Sanchez's money is guaranteed, that's why he was never rumored to be cut.
  7. solid. but to critique i'd say... - Falcons to 6 again would take a LOT from 30. dunno if Miliner is worth the cost with other decent CB's available later. would cost the 2nd pick, next year's first, and maybe a lot more than that... just can't see it. too far. - Geno to Jets is interesting, though i have doubts of it. - Rhodes seems to be falling... 12 may be too high if Hayden truly has passed him. - Lane Johnson to Eagles not really surprising, as talking heads have been saying it the past week. - biggest shock pick may be the Chargers NOT selecting an Olineman.... almost seems they have to at this point. 16 to 8 would probably cost a 2nd... no more.
  8. i would say no... Dansby is much better. aside from the comparable tackles numbers, Dansby has 31.5 career sacks, while Morrison has 6. Dansby 48 Passes defended, while Morrison has 20. Seems to me like Dansby is better at both coverage and pass-rushing. Even if he starts his decline, he's declining from a much higher starting point. i don't think they were ever going LB early. There are plenty of bodies there... Dansby would be a nice upgrade over Sheppard, but with Lawson/Mario/Bradham as other starters the position is in decent shape. CB is still a major need and I would be shocked if they didn't grab one in first 4 picks. And not surprised at all if it was in the first 1 or 2. You need 3 good ones, and right now McKelvin is #2 and Brooks is #3.
  9. Dansby is great. He says so himself. Repeatedly. lol... Granted, this was 2011, not 2012. "I'm better than everybody," Dansby said when Salguero asked if he thought he was better than Ray Lewis. "Everybody. Period. Point blank. I just haven't had the recognition, man. I'm more versatile than everybody. Period. Point blank. I'm more versatile than everybody. Hands down. I can do it all." "I can do it all. Nobody else can say they've done that and played at a high level. Nobody else. Everybody plays weak-side or play under at the Mike. I've done it all. I can press the guard. I watch film. I know how good I am." Dansby, who's come down in weight from the offseason thanks to a bison diet (no, really) believes that the best is yet to come. He had nine solo tackles and a pick against the Redskins. "I've been having more opportunities the last couple of weeks, and I've been making the most of my chances. This is by far the best game I've had in Miami. "What didn't I do?"
  10. can't agree on 3rd rate receivers... he's had guys that were and will be drafted in first few rounds of draft. more than you can say for Manuel, Wilson (this year), Nassib. i also am doubtful his ultra religious, man makes all the decisions, conservatism will play well outside the bible belt. tebow has nothing on this guy in that department.
  11. people may laugh at this, but i don't think Round 1 is off the table... i'd almost be surprised if they didn't take CB in first 3 picks, so why not round 1? if this draft is deep in WR.. deep in Safeties... very deep in grade B Quarterbacks... and we know how much this team loves taking CB's high. best prepare yourselves now. ok.. probably not at 8. but if they trade back, watch out.
  12. i don't think this even requires i link, nor is it news. i would assume that this is their plan, and i think most do. the problem is, if the Jets want to do the same thing, it's a bidding war of who will take less... and with the Jets picking lower and with 2, i'd say it's them. best case, someone wants Mingo and fears the Jets take him at 9 and will move up a few spots to get him. as for just taking the QB at 8, sure of course if they really favor one over the others. but there are many voices and if it's a split decision on 2 or 3 guys with the same grade; ALL of which are graded as 2nd round picks anyway, then why bother at 8? if you really can't decide between say Nassib and Wilson anyway, might as well take the latter AND a first round CB/WR or something, rather than Nassib and a 2nd rd CB/WR
  13. i totally agree with you, though it seems we're in the minority. maybe i'm just in denial, b/c i really don't like what i've seen from Barkley all that much. over and over i see short throws, nothing special. given that i can't rally see much he does better than Nassib, i don't see why they would go for the unknown more than the known. even TYler Wilson in round 2 would seem to be just as good at whatever Barkley has.
  14. i think they may have talked about Barkley so they'd have less to talk about other guys. sure, they like him ok... i never got the feeling of being THAT enamored. they gave him some love, but not necessarily the guy for us. and watch his film, most games are not impressive, short throws only completed.. INT's.. most games it's hard to find a completion over 9 yards. they are not going to doubt his arm strength publicly, no reason to. maybe i'm in denial, cuz the guy doesn't impress me at all, but i don't buy they love him that much. i hope not. t here are at least 4 guys i'd rather have over him. maybe 5. Woods is a worse pick. if you believe Buddy on anything, it should be what type of player they are looking for and Woods doesn't fit the large catch radius, open when he's not open, profile. he has short arms, not a good jumper... he is NOT what they said they were looking for, and they've never lied about that, so i have no idea why he'd be their pick. kinda like you threw what they say out the window totally, but buy into it for Barkley. Shamarko Thomas is ok, kinda of a lazy pick with the Marrone connection. i think a CB is much more likely, they need one more with the AW conversion to safety. After that, not much point in assessing or critiquing... they will take BPA, could be anyone, and may not even make the team. Buddy's 5th-7th round picks have mostly been cut, or otherwise i complete waste.
  15. he'd still get some attention... NFL films guy has him #1, NFP has him #1, Gruden has him #1, PFW has him #2. so it's not like it's a local phenomenon. that said, i think you have to be over 50% to take him in the top 10. i want a top 10 talent too, but if what many say is true that the talent is similar at 25 as it is at 8, then by all means trade down... you'll get 2 chances to get a good player.
  16. they're probably right... not sure it has relevance in learning a playbook. maybe for a QB. it doesn't seem to have much effect on decision making either. many low-scorers haven't got into a lick of trouble.. Gore... McKelvin... while guys who did a little better like Marshawn and Maurice Clarett were train wrecks. those interviews must count 100x more than that test... at least.
  17. or he was saving Fitz like i said by throwing himself under the bus. Chan didn't say he run it wrong, said it was up to him to read it. the ball was barely caught by a leaping DB. anyone in front of him, it would be uncatchable and over their head by 6 fet. it was also about 10 feet behind TJ, even after running the deeper route, so it would have been even further behind him if he broke in sooner. it's science.
  18. there are probably some things you can glean from practice... how good our offense and defense was as a whole last year were not two of them, since it was hard to know how ineffective Wanny's scheme would be even in the regular season. things like hands and accuracy and whether guys are lost or picking up scheme though, i'm sure is useful.
  19. So that it would have been well over his head, and even further behind him? It's a read/judgement call... he nobly took the blame, but looked like a horrible throw no matter what. Graham sounds pretty smarty, bet he got a 20 or more.
  20. At the draft luncheon they did make a point of saying the Bills coaches wanted smart players... so not a stretch to say it could be a factor. It was also reported that Patterson did not interview well, which could reflect this low score. I really don't think anyone but Hunter was truly a likely candidate for the Bills anyway. A 12 might not scare them off of him, at least in round 2, since he reportedly has solid character.
  21. agreed 100%. draft was waaaayyy more fun back then. i can't believe some still think this is a good idea or that they make more money this way. i mean i guess they do, but it is so lame... you wait a year and that first days is just 1 round. on a thursday when it's unlikely to be a social event. just not enough. then 2nd and 3rd on a friday.. okay, but 2 less great rounds is still weak. then the scrubs on last day is kinda anticlimactic for sitting down on saturday an making a real event out of it. saturday, rounds 1-3... that was awesome. best day of the year.
  22. Woods and Allen are more well spoken and went to Cal and USC... and scored much higher than the articulately challenged Patterson and Austin from Tenn and West Virgina. Shocking.
  23. i don't necessary get that. Sheppard is basically the MLB in 4-3 looks, and one of the ILB in 3-4 looks... or at least a potential starter in those looks. no need for Buddy to mention Shep, as i believe he's a given as an inside guy in all looks (although may come off the field for Scott in those obvious passing downs i suppose). can't go into a season with the bare minimum, so any LB they take could push anyone else or provide depth, etc.
  24. misremembering a bit... he dropped a few balls in those games, at least one which deflected off him for an INT. potential, but not good enough hands. they may hope he's good enough to be a top 5 guy, but no way they count on him to start. they'll be drafting a guy by the 3rd round at latest, almost no doubt. Hopkins or Hunter or Harper or Dobson... someone with that "large catch radius" quality.
