    Orton leaving is not an improvement unless he's replaced by someone better, and that's not Manuel, no first rounder, looking like picking up another journeyman FA at this point. I don't blame Orton for this, I blame Nix for staying with Fitz too long and not drafting a bona fide NFL quality player.

    EJ is not NFL starting material, as his coach was apparently telling NFL head coaches. They goofed big time on the pick. I don't know who's available in the draft next year (and it's moot without a first rounder) but I strongly suspect we've got to look at EJ as a backup and find a longterm solution elsewhere.

    I hope the haters don't cloud the reality - no, Orton was not perfect, but he was the best QB on the roster, and regardless of his shortcomings, we wouldn't have a winning season without him. If EJ was the starter all season long the record would be 4-12 at best.
