  1. It appears that Marrone likes the young up & comer's on his staff (especially with the pickup of Tampa's DB coach) with that being said don't be surprise with Jim O'Neil replacing Pettine as our next DC. Picking from this list of candidates ,I'd take Spags, Schwartzs, Henderson or Johnson.
  2. I see you point but nothing stays the same. You're either getting better or worse...pretty sure he's learned from his past stint in the DC role. If anything its worth a shot given the talent and for continuity sake. I also believe Jim O'Neil is a good candidate as well, he knows Pettine's system but he doesn't have any experience in the role.
  3. Seems to me our next DC is already here...DON'T LET HIM LEAVE! Donnie Henderson's Bio as DC. In 2004, Henderson was the coordinator for the Jets defense that improved to seventh, from 21st, in the NFL in total defense and rookie linebacker Jonathan Vilma was named the 2004 AP Defensive Rookie of the Season. In 2005, the Jets finished second in the NFL in total passing yards allowed (172.2 avg.) and finished fifth with 21 interceptions.
  4. Well you better stay away from any football related coverage this week. Its gonna be Manning & Brady ad nauseam !
  5. Ohhhh I got it now, thanks!
  6. It takes two to tangle but why not just sign him to a 3-4 yr deal? What is the fascination with getting rid of the teams best players, how does that make the team better? BTW, the Bills are in great shape salary wise why isn't there pressure from the fan base to retain him? I think there has been a long enough drought doing it the other way...try something new, just a thought.
  7. Both should definitely be in the market for QB's, I think the Bills are in a good position to get a playmaker at #9. If one position is dominate early another will open up. I believe either Mack or Barr will be there if the draft shifts to an offense dominated early picks. We need to continue to draft playmakers and use NFL free agency for quality depth players & ST.
  8. That's what I see as well...Or a bigger version of a young Steve Smith. It's funny how it seems to workout in fans pre draft mock. The player desired always seem to go off the board prior to your teams pick or the guy projected could have been had later on...Love it!
  9. I watched this game to specifically check out Watkins. Most mocks have him going at the latest 6th overall but these are going strictly by ability (which I agree) of the player and not need or fit for the team. After watching & checking his youtube highlights, I'm on board. Reading his profile he has always been a blue-chipper, he's a big time talent that should transfer to the next level IMO. Like some have said he reminds me of a Percy Harvin type or most recently a more polished C. Patterson (Vikings 1st Rd) but he has the ball skills of Dez Bryant. Could you imagine a spread formation of Watkins, Goodwin/Woods with SJ in the slot and CJ in the backfield? Who does the defense roll coverage toward? I subscribe to putting playmakers on the field & wear defenses down trying to cover the field. BTW, I like M.Evan's also but I'm not sure how fast he will adapt to the league...Watkins has been a player from day 1 at Clemson. I also agree with drafting a power back to replace FJ soon but would only start valuing that position until the mid-late rds. Good backs are still around late in the draft, most just don't have that explosiveness or great 40 times. I think Hyde would be there in the 3rd but if not Andre Williams aka "little Earl" as in Earl Campbell from BC is another option that should be there in rd 4-6. My wish list is offense dominated in rds 1-4: 1st- WR -(Watkins, Evans- maybe even Lee after a trade back) or LB ( Barr or Mack)- I'm really hoping we address the MLB position in NFL free agency & move Kiko to the WLB. 2nd- TE- (ASJ, Amaro or Grimble) or OL 3rd- Take a flyer on one of the injured QB's (I like EJ but just incase) Mettenburger or Murray 4th- RB- A. Williams or OG if not addressed earlier
  10. Not so sure about that ,early on (pre Byrd @ FS) the 3rd down & long pass defense was brutal, IIRC. They ended the year ranked #4 in pass defense in the league. http://www.nfl.com/stats/team
  11. That's interesting ! Most of the WR spoke highly of him as a coach early on , especially having played in the league. Wonder if he got another offer or does Marrone has someone else in mind.
  12. That's what you got from my question? Its easy to question after the fact of the matter & you have the history at your disposal. But who was a franchise QB that the Steelers had a shot at replace him? BTW - I haven't a clue to your comprehensive skills but in NO WAY does my comment reference standing pat. IMO, I believe in the Parcell Rule for QB's coming out of the draft. And even if we had a franchise QB, I'd draft one (mid-late rds) at least every other draft year because the position is way too vital. +1
  13. You act as if finding a franchise QB are available each year or in every draft class. Using your example of K. Steward could you please offer the choices that were available to the Steelers at that time, that were franchise worthy?
  14. Oh I forgot about the legend and the myth. Thanks for the reminder...LOL!
  15. I like KiKo but of those ILB, who would he replace? Hopefully he'll be an alternate after the smoke clears.
  16. Pretty sure he's referring to NFL free agency & NOT the undrafted college free agents. Either way I take my chances with Marrone picking & evaluating his OL, he knows more about the position than any of us on this wall.
  17. Glad the high road was taken in these responses. Obviously the pressure has gotten the best of the young man. Hope all is well and he's back on the field soon!
  18. My apologies for the auto spell problems teacher. I'll promise to do better next time...
  19. Ya think? LOL!!! I just wonder why we don't hear these complains about other cold weather locations from other athletes? Maybe the fan base here is just a little bit over the top on certain issues...every time I read a report or post from fans or WGR of why someone wouldn't choose Buffalo, I just CRINGE!!! Its like the battered wife syndrome , self mutilation or something. :wallbash: :wallbash:
  20. Exert from my original post- Not saying that this justifies hitting someone but navigating through Chippewa with people obviously belligerent as can be, ignoring any rules of the road... I love the response BTW...you guys are hilarious!!!! I have a question for all you that are so quick to judge & condemn (tongue inserted in cheek). YOU ARE SUCH HYPOCRITES...PLEASE STOP IT !!! I for one would NEVER say that would Lynch did was except-able. My point being, remove him from the equation and insert ANY 20-something into a situation where their career is on the line & living in a fish bowl while trying to still have some normalcy...I know I'm asking a lot on a fan board but jeez!!!
  21. Let he, who is without sin, caste the first stone...ijs! There maybe other incidents to justify your obvious contempt for the guys off the field antics (please rem these guys are in there early 20's. So don't judge them as some mature adult). But using the hit & run scenario mentioned doesn't merit IMO...have you ever been down there after the bars have emptied out, during that time? The drunks were ridiculous...add in that it was raining as well. Not saying that this justifies hitting someone but navigating through Chippewa with people obviously belligerent as can be, ignoring any rules of the road... I'll say this pedestrian crossings signs or traffic police would've controlled a lot of issues with the public drunkenness, IMO. There were more hit & run incidents & accidents down there during that time than you'll ever know. Lynch's status just happened to work against him.
  22. There is not much the OL can do when the Saints were bringing one player than the line could block. That's where an athletic TE would be beneficial for a young QB to beat the man coverage. That being said, here is my list (assuming EJ becomes the franchise player we all hope): 1- Ball hawking DB (draft, way too costly in FA) 2- Road grading OG (draft or FA) 3- Athletic TE (draft or FA) 4- ILB (to pair w/Kiko) 5- RB (one cut & go type, FJ's not getting any younger- late rd draft pick)
