[closed]Marrone's Coaching Tree - Possible OCs/DCs.
pimp 2 replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gainful employment? He's a head coach with 5 jobs still available. If the organization liked his coaching ability that much, they should've hired over some wildcard... -

That would be an insult, IMO to Coach Smith. -
Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach

I'm with you there...this guy may become a good HC. The turn around at SU sounds promising but would've liked to see the complete return to prominence of the program before making this jump. A .500 record (less than inter-conference) just doesn't do it for me... -

The more things change, the more they stay the same...color me very skeptical! I hope it works for our organization but on the surface this smells of a marketing move. His overall record 25-25 in the Big East (11-17 conference wise) does not seem to inspire the demand for a jump to the NFL as HC, IMO. It seems that the Bills organization has a high opinion of themselves but they have absolutely NOTHING to support their reasoning. Let's see if this guy can bring in some coordinators on both sides of the ball that can match wits with Billicheat, Rex & Philbin. -
I like Brown, he could be that replacement of Barnett at WLB. Very instinctive player and we need that in the worst way.

That's why they're unemployed! I'm with most of you, Lovie's the best candidate to me. His firing this year was definitely a result of his past failure of his offensive production but IMO this year was different. Mike Tice was the OC with a smashmouth mentality and did a pretty good job until the injuries to Cutler & Forte stymied the offense, that's just a bad break. IMO Lovie has a great staff & if they're part of his package it's a slam dunk...his DC was Rob Marinelli (lots of HC & NFL experience there between the two btw) that's two pretty good coordinators IMO.

I understand where you're coming from but at some point the team has to be able to win without the weather advantage...that's why the league wants the SB to be played in traditionally better climates (2014 SB excluded). I want me team to be dominate in any condition...as we learned during our SB run, the weather (with some talent) advantage only got us to the big game.

Vontaze Burfict, Bills shoulda, coulda dept.
pimp 2 replied to AReed Deep For6's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your comparison should be Burfict & Barnett. They both play the WLB position...the different approach by the DC also plays a part in this as well but I see your point. Nick Barnett 112 72 40 2.0 3 -
+1 He's definitely a coach on the rise. It sez a lot of his coaching/leadership to transform this team into a more physical style of play for arguably the most NFL ready conference (talent wise).

I'm telling you I love this, LOL. Don't forget Chan Gailey...My candidate that I'm praying that we do NOT get is Oregon coach Kelly. I just don't think his gimmick offense will work against NFL talent once these coaches get enough film on his down & distances tendencies...plus he has NO NFL experience of any kind.

The part of using this to attack the opponents weakness in different formations, is what intrigues me. This I believe is what Bill-cheat does so will against his opponents...what I get from Russ is that he wants a HC that buys into this concept of strategy and not just the traditional way of film study. Andy Reid (other coaches also) used the scripted 8-12 plays with different formations to tip the DC's gameplan, then flip his charts to adjust his offensive gameplan to the Def formations weakness...pretty sure he used some form of analytically data for player or formational weakness.Hell, I used to scream at Chan (thru the TV) because it never seemed like the Bills had a glue of how to attack the opponents weakness. The game that convinced me of this was the Jets game when Maybin had the 2 sacks. Knowing Maybins weakness at DE, CG never ran not once at him while he was on the field...not even a draw or screen.

HUH??? Wisenhunt was given the keys to pick personal and the funds to back it up...plus he was in the weakest division in football (until the past 2 yrs). He had a decent team with Warner but struggled since his retirement. I say NO! for HC but I like as a OC...

Chip Kelly HC! (possibly for the Browns)
pimp 2 replied to 13player's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand your position. We have to explore all options and leave no stone unturned...but it's important that we get it right! I just don't want a gimmick offense, give me a coach that strategizes & looks to exploit the opponents weakness on Offense & that's aggressive on Def...is that asking too much? -
Chip Kelly HC! (possibly for the Browns)
pimp 2 replied to 13player's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you! What has Chip Kelly won so far? I'm all for a new approach but college success doesn't guarantee anything, IMO. I'm always cautious when hiring college HC without the NFL experience. The level of competition faced in college + coaches weekly pales in comparison to the NFL...every position is filled with a better athlete as well. How many time has a rookie spoke of the ability to adjust to the speed of the game at the NFL level? So I'm luke-warm on the whole fascination with Chip Kelly . -

6 of the 7 Teams picking ahead of us need a QB
pimp 2 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love this site, LOL. Btw Glennon reminds my of Flacco with some Matt Ryan qualities he stands tall in the pocket & poised...but are those the qualities of the past or future for NFL success? If he's available at 8, we're gonna have to go with a traditional play-action format like Atlanta for his success IMO. -
There a saying where I come from..."only a hit dog, howl! "

I like this ^^^^^. Well said!

??? Most draftniks has him rated as their #1 QB...Why not overall? Losing big games didn't equate to him having a bad game. Most of the time it came down to their defense being unable to stop anyone. Although today was a bad audition there are more to the resume. IMO there isn't a QB worthy in top 20 (including the stiff from NC State), my choice would be in this order OLB/ MLB, QB, whatever LB I didn't get in the first with the 3rd round and another QB later in the draft (5-6).

And you know this? How? Or is it your personal opinion? Reports from of the coaching staff & teammates say otherwise. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000059243/article/cam-newton-panthers-qb-talks-of-mindblowing-goals

Roster better now than it was 3 yrs ago?
pimp 2 replied to Maddog69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this assessment. Chan continually shoots from the hip on game day with this offense. The most important pieces to this puzzle are shaky at best HC, DC and QB but IMO Fitz could benefit from a playaction approach and ditch the spread/ empty backfield set. -
Such a typical B-Lo response...I had to laugh. Thank you
