Let me start by saying I have been an advocate of drafting D-linemen, either DT or DE, for I don't remember how many years now. Let's just say a lot.
Just for clarification:
1. I have never been much of a Schobel guy. He never seems to have much of an impact on
a game, and will seemingly disappear all together.
2. I still don't understand why the Bills felt it necessary to dump Pat Williams.
3. Moving up to get linemen ala. Ryan Denny and John McCargo: not good.
4. If you can't draft, develop, acquire or keep good D-line talent, you're in trouble.
The questions now about Maybin are pretty straight forward.
1. I still don't know why they took him where they did.
2. He has appeared in all 9 games, but has not started: why?
3. His size at 6' 4" 240 - 250 is much too small for a DE as I see it, so is he a "tweener"?
4. The depth chart has him at DE, although has he lined up at OLB at all?
5. With the injuries and general poor play at LB, he can't be used there? Anywhere?
6. Before the season some speculated he would be used as a pass-rushing specialist. Has this happened?
7. He has 6 total tackles and 0 sacks: Why 0 sacks?
8. Given the age at DL, see Denney, Schobel, Stroud, who can he replace?
9. Is it too early too call this pick a bust? Nothing against the player, but where he was taken, how he is being used,
and results so far, how can you come to any other conclusion.
Where do the Bills go now with Maybin? They have to keep him, they need to rebuild the D-line or WILL rebuild it anyway
with a new coach and G.M. coming in. Is he destined to be another Ryan Denney, someone you can throw in there that doesn't produce, so don't expect too much?

Seems like a good college player that so far, isn't suited to the Pro game.
Flame away.
P.S. Happy Holidays, support the troop!
