Aaron Rodgers has arrived at camp
Mister Defense replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Whenever I see or hear that guy it makes me so grateful the Bills have a quarterback leader who is cool, lacks arrogance, and is not a head case. Can you imagine having a yahoo like Rodgers as your team's quarterback? Yikes. -
He was our best lineman when here, a pro bowl guard year after year, and a leader of that group. Talented, consistent, relentless. Always liked the irony of his last name, as one of the most conspicuous people around.

Great, clear and specific analysis here. Thanks. Nice! -
Edit! McKenzie is back on a 2 year deal worth 4.4 million
Mister Defense replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure, but I agree, and Beasley would fit in very well, really improve their short game, and open up things down field. Hopefully this does not happen! I know Tua does not have a great arm, but I think he looked a lot better as the last season progressed. -

A little, but I am still concerned. And maybe even a little more soon after this post, as I found out that Beasley had broken ribs last year. The first time I began to consistently realize Allen was going to be a super star was when he started finding Beasley, effortlessly, in stride, in the slot. It was when Allen started to look like the other HOF quarterbacks I have seen play in the Ralph: Bradshaw, Warner, Montana... Pretty shocked that Beasley has not signed somewhere else by now. May be because of the vaccination controversy. But I am glad that, so far, he is not a weapon for one of the other young guns, like Herbert, Burrow, Watson, and even Tua. -
Elam If he can get up to NFL speed quickly, and White is back early, it will move this defense to an elite level. I think a few of the young defensive lineman will take the next step up, like Rousseau and Oliver. And the combination of these things will be the difference this year, and help the Bills to cross that river.

New Bills stadium deal is bad for taxpayers, according to Yahoo!
Mister Defense replied to JPL7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yahoo?????? Is that still a thing? I thought they had folded all of their business operations except for their much degraded email. I'll just do what I have done for all the unwarranted stadium criticism to date, cover my ears and yell to drown out the ugly, negative voices. They are nothing--and we have everything... We have the Bills! -
To me he has always seemed like a good guy, a high character guy. And I agree his team has not been a high quality one. But he seems to fold under pressure and lacks the leadership qualities of a top NFL quarterback. The problem, I think, is that teams see those personal qualities, see the italics, and they also get to know a player very well, and that clouds their judgement. Carr has a top tight end and and now Devante Adams. If the line is solid, he should have a great year and lead the Raiders to their first playoff win in a long time. But I don't think he will step up and take them there.
-
It seems that the Raiders would be better off finding a new quarterback, one that has the potential to win big in the NFL. Carr does not seem to be that guy, has never won a playoff game. I know his stats seem to paint a different picture, one of a top tier NFL quarterback, but that is not the case. I wonder if the teams that sign players like this know what everyone else knows, and that they just go with the easier, safer option. That is a huge amount of money for a middling, inconsistent quarterback/team leader.
-
I don't watch or hear what he says often, but the times I do it almost always seems Johnson says some stupid, illogical thing--like that. Almost no GM would trade Allen for anyone right now. Period. The only comparable player is Mahomes, in my view. Brady is 44, and Rodgers is a head case, not a leader of men. And Watson, well, good luck with that, Cleveland, and all that guaranteed money...

Zay Jones to Jags for 3 years up to $30M with $24M base

Well, I am certain Zay Jones feels very differently tonight! -

Yes, McKenzie had a few very good games, but Beasley has had a slew of good games and big catches often in games where he did not have big yards. You'd have to admit, we really don't know if McKenzie can become a consistent threat in the slot. We think he can, as he shown flashes, and because he has been underutilized. But we don't know that he will be that kind of player. We do know what Beasley can do, and what he will likely do for a few more years. I know his stats were not great last year, but now the short game is going to be featured more, as the Bills learned the importance of that this year. Beasley will catch a lot of balls. Why roll the dice, and eliminate one of the Bill most important offensive players of the last 3 years? -

Wow, seems about 3 times too big with his 500+ passing yards and very low 67% catch percentage. Was just surprised to see Jones had 652 yards and 7 touchdowns for the Bills in 2018. He faded so fast the next year I had forgotten he had a good year for a 2nd year player, and played better as the season progressed. But 81 catches since he left the Bills. Seems like a good dude, so more power to him. May be a good fit with Kirk, and their QB should be better. So, you never know, I guess. -

Maybe, but I think the Bills want Beasley for at least one more year, as he has been a vital part of the Bills resurgence. -

Very good news; the first of hopefully many good things to come this off season. The fastest Bill, a player who has been under utilized and now till get the ball more. Mckenzie will become a much more integral part of this offense now. You can't lose McKenzie and Beasley, and I prefer they bring back Beasley too. A good and reasonable contract. Good leadership and locker room presence, another important trait. -
Kareem Hunt: Cut candidate. Possible 2022 Bill?
Mister Defense replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wanted the Bills to get him a few years ago. Hunt and Singletary would give the Bills an excellent backfield. The Bills would take the next step in creating a dynamic running game. To me this is a no brainer if the price is right. -
But the Monday night team was hard to listen to; very boring, in my view. And the lack of quality broadcast voices, especially the two color guys, was part of it. Aikman is not a favorite of mine but he is a significant step up. MNF ratings will improve. If they can pair him up with Buck, the ratings will improve dramatically. And they will get better games to broadcast.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if Belichick retired?
Mister Defense replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, why now?? Just when the Bills seem to have the organization and team to create their own dynasty? Makes no sense. And we should want the best coach in our division still--it made the Bills stronger and will continue to force them to sharpen the blade. -
Do you want Daboll to leave for a HC job?
Mister Defense replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Your stats a good indication of the need for both. They can indicate that a good passing game often relies on a good running game, and visa versa. Which three playoff teams don't have a top ten running game? -
Do you want Daboll to leave for a HC job?
Mister Defense replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, a very good point, idea. And this coach and GM see this weakness and are looking for ways to really change it. That is how they operate--understand the team's weaknesses and then fix them. Imagine the success Josh Allen's teams will have in Buffalo whey they have a running game that matches their passing game and an offense that is always evolving. To make these things happen, they need that different perspective you suggest. -

No, to that cliche that this is a 'passing league now', and that the running game is not that vital, and that running backs are basically a dime a dozen. It is just the very illogical very bad common 'wisdom' that has permeated the media the last few years. People hear the nonsense, repeat it, and so it spreads. But that does not make it so. Of course that cliche we have all heard so often over the last few years does not make sense. We all saw that this year with the Bills--and in last year's AFC Championship game. Without a very solid running game a team is very unlikely to win it all. A great running game will likely power this year's Super Bowl winner as it did last year. The Bucs ran for almost 150 yards in last year's Super Bowl. They had a running game that prevented the Chiefs from teeing off on Brady the way they did to Allen. I was screaming from the rooftops last year to develop the running game, and all of this year too. Too many good teams in the NFL to not have a multi-dimensional team. So tonight, go Singletary, throw in some Moss, a little Bradea if he is active, and let the Bills wide receivers run tonight too. Run the ball, keep getting better at it, and then maybe, even coming to it soo late in the year, the Bills can still get good enough at doing so that they win the AFC.
