The whole concept of paying $3000 for an exercise bike and then buying into another $60 a month "video instructor package" for someone to motivate me to use it every day means I must be getting old. A $45 a month gym Anytime Fitness membership and me, telling my own fat ass and dimwit brain, to go every day seems like a cheaper, more effective solution. Oh well. I somehow haven't missed more than a couple of flu days in almost 2 decades since I woke up and realized I wasn't going to live to see my kids as adults if I didn't change. People who were offended by this commercial are a curious lot to me, but only God judges and maybe he/she rides a Peloton...

I appreciate and partially agree with your point @C.Biscuit97. Personally, I am not covering for Josh at all. This was more meant to show that passing yard numbers are no more important than other QB stats when judging QB performance. The lack of a 300 yard passing game has been seen as a marker of growth by some posters. Personally, it means very little to me. W's are more important and Josh has had a hand in producing a pretty good W-L record. I think Josh is growing into the job in a similar manner that a lot a great QBs -- Manning, Aikman, Big Ben had to grow into it and I see steady improvement. Josh has been handled gently and pretty conservatively but he has grown. Josh had the weakest competitive background of any of the top 5 prospects in his class. Josh has met my personal expectations for this year 2 of his maturation. The Bills would run a different offense with Matt Ryan and would likely have a better record...but Matt Ryan wasn't an option. The Bills needed and only had access to a developmental QB prospect that might develop into a top 10 QB. Nothing Josh has done these first two years has dissuaded from the belief that he is on this path. He's not there yet..and there is plenty to criticize but I am taking a patient stance. Its easier to do so for me because I see the Bills have basically sucked and had no plan for 20 years and I am happy the Bills have a plan and a front office and coaching staff that can execute on that plan.

There has been some mention of the symbolic importance of a 300 yard game in this thread. I found the following interesting. The top 5 QBs in yards passing in the NFL through week 16 (Sans Packers/Vikings) are as follows: Jameis WinstonTB 4,908 2 Dak PrescottDAL 4,599 3 Philip RiversLAC 4,334 4 Jared GoffLAR 4,319 5 Matt RyanATL 4,153 None are in the playoffs....

If you could swap QBs with any team right now
JoeF replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe this concept is highly dependent on the surrounding roster. You can't base it, in my opinion, on the QB's performance with the current team but really have to project how the QB would perform with Daboll's scheme and with the Bills offensive personnel. Even the most skilled QB needs an offense that is built somewhat for him. I think the Bills "O" roster is pretty inferior to the Chiefs and slightly inferior to the Ravens. This closes the gap with Mahomes and Jackson for Josh. All my way of saying, I would stick with Josh and make the roster improvements the Bills are going to make on O this offseason. I think I just gave a Pete Buttigieg double talk answer....? -

Me too...asking Santa now. -
Thoughtful topic and great thread content. I can't think of a head coach who has been this conservative who has won a SB. Two things: 1) I think the first quarter of the season where Josh was loose with the football led to some of this conservative nature on both O and D. If you are aggressive on D -- you are going to leave large areas of the field uncovered at times and potentially give up big plays and points and there is little faith that the O can score points consistently. So I think one thing feeds into another and creates something that is self-fulfilling.' 2) This needs to be one of the self-evaluation things McD looks at in the off-season. Playing aggressive situational football and executing on aggressive plays is the next step for this team. Just like they worked on goal-line last off-season, aggressive play calling on both O and D need to be the focus this off-season.

McVay is playing Madden instead of NFL football. They have a great Madden roster but they are certainly not a team. -
Good post by the OP. Josh's cap hits for 2020 and 2021 are $5.8Million and $6.74Million. This is the window to move to compete at the next level (one of the top 2 AFC teams), but make no mistake, Beane and McDermott know how to find and develop talent and the Bills will be competitive for a while beyond 2021. They will adjust and adapt to Josh having $20Million more of the cap. However, for the next two seasons, this team still will be building talent and depth not letting talent go. For the next two years, the Bills will continue to add to weapons on offense, add quality depth to the OL and add talent across the D through the draft and free agency. The young core in addition to Allen (Dawkins, White, Edmunds, Oliver) will be kept and extended at least through 2026. They will grow their own veteran leadership at each position. Post 2021, the roster will be in constant churn of 10 or so players each year. We will hate seeing some guys go -- but that is part of managing the cap and roster responsibly. I have a lot of faith in the scouting staff to find talent and the coaching staff led by McDermott to develop talent. BTW, extend Beane and McDermott now...pay them a lot to stay and continue.

How bad is Levi Wallace making tackles?
JoeF replied to Stallions's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whoever 27 was on Sunday...was absolutely a beast.... 24 is Taron Johnson -- nickel corner...he got beat badly on one deep ball that I saw...but did you see other plays where he was over matched? I will say that in Dallas, he was excellent all day on Randall Cobb, but his play against the Steelers did not stand out in any way to me. Levi is really slight. The draft scouting reports are absolutely dead on. Preston Williams dominated Levi for the first 3 quarters of the home game against the Phins just with physical play. The play on Sunday night was, however, a play that likely 75% of the corners in the NFL would not have been able to make so I cut him some slack. The game sealing pick more than made up for it.....(even though it was a gimmie)... -

Head Coaches in the last 50 years: Buffalo vs Pittsburgh
JoeF replied to Motorin''s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Steelers have had 10 years in the last 50 where they have had a losing record (let that sink in for just a second). There were probably others where they did not meet expectation. The Rooney's knew they had the right plan and culture. They stuck with it after hiring Chuck Noll. They are always in contention. I would be very pleased if the Bills could have close to that sustained excellence. McDermott and Beane are both young. This could be a 15+ year partnership. -
PFF is the best motivator on our team!!! Thank you Cris Collinsworth for your support of the Buffalo Bills.

Judon was a beast on Sunday...wow...pressure/sack, coverage, establishing the edge...but so was Shaq

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet · 1m The NFL informed clubs today that projections for the 2020 salary cap are in the range of $196.8 million to $201.2 million. This marks a 40% increase from five years ago in the 2015 season ($143.3 million). JoeF note--Projected cap on Sportrac is $199M (essentially about the mid-point) and team figures include projected rollover. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2020/ Bills have the room to extend some key folks, lock up the 5th year option on TreDe and get a selectively busy in the open market.

Bengals accuse Pats employee of videotaping their play calls

Maybe we should set up video cams outside massage parlors in Palm Beach....I really want the Bills to just kick their ass in Foxboro in 2 weeks.
