Hire Fangio and Sanders so you have a leader for each aspect of the hybrid--Fangio coaches ILB and is co-coordinator and Sanders coaches DL and is co-coordinator. Fangio takes lead on 3-4 and Sanders on 4-3.....hmmmmmm...two pretty good minds working right there....we already have some hybrids in Maybin, Schobel, Kelsay (DE/OLB) and in the secondary/LB in Scott, Corto

Gailey adds Giff Smith to Bills staff
JoeF replied to copernicus137's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lot's of questions here...just two.... 1) Would Gailey hire an OLB's coach if he wasn't planning on the 3-4? 2) Would Gailey hire an OLB's coach before he secured a DC? -

I am hoping and thinking right with you my friend. The guy probably feels like he got a major league screwing over by Nip and Tuck Jerry and wants to show everyone that Jones let a hall of fame coach go. The first major evaluation will be the assistants he hires. I am not looking for names but I am looking for coaches who have a track record with successful teams and are known for driving accountability. Two things in the article I like: 1) Making other teams actually have to game plan against our offense--hasn't happened in a long, long time. 2) Adjustments..a coach who makes adjustments? What is this foreign concept? -

Its a nice article but its also 10 years old. I heard Chan Gailey's 4th grade teacher told Chan's mom that she thought Chan could be President of the United States some day ;-) Seriously, I am willing to give the guy a shot..he is starting from scratch in terms of discipline and work ethic with some of these guys--but the NFL is Not For Long if you don't produce W's pretty quickly. We need to see progress this season.... -
Diet coke up my nose ...thanks you cynical old coot you......

This guy is too impressive to end up with the Bills. He is probably going to the Pats as DC--but one can dream. I don't think the guy has ever been a coordinater or a position coach with a D that finished outside the top 10 (okay maybe a bit of an exaggeration-- but closer to correct than you think)... Vic Fangio

Except that the Bettis fumble didn't get returned for a TD by the Colts....that would have been the all time gaff....

Classic post llr...so true. I would never, ever count a Bills victory until the clock shows 0:00 at the end of the 4th quarter and the Bills have more points than the opposition. Bills fans are conditioned to assume and expect the worst..and our team often delivers.
-
There have been a lot of gaffs in the playoffs and last night's "cross court" throw will probably go down as one of the greatest. Isn't it appropriate that a great career that is somewhat checkered with errors in on-field judgment would end this way. Part of the mystique that is Brett Favre is his riverboat gambling high risk play...it would be poetic justice to end this way. Every great QB at the NFL level has confidence in their ability -- Manning, Elway, Brady, Unitas, Aikman -- but smarts won them the big games. Put Favre in that category of Tarkenton and even Kelly sometimes -- who at times put too much faith in their athletic ability and not enough brain behind the decision. It was an awesome, classic game...the kind that keeps the NFL at the top of sports attractions.

We sit here hitting refresh 6000 times a day. We buy tickets en masse. We B word, we yell, we scream it isn't fair. We love the Bills no matter what. We will spend a day or even a week being pissed when Leslie Frazier or some other risky pick is hired to coach. We will B word about coordinator and assistant choices. We will whine about not getting xxxx in free agency. We will flame when we pick 3 corners and a safety in our first 4 draft picks... But this fall--we will be back -- we have to be-- we love our team. Its not so bad...but the Bills know they can continue to shovel us crap as they have since Ralph insisted on Rob Johnson and we will come back--hoping, praying for a return to the fleeting glory days of the mid-60's and early-90's. We will be back. If we want to blame someone -- look in the mirror...I know I can't help it...I love my team-I will be there for them as long as they are in WNY. Sorry for the rant--had to get it off my chest...no replies necessary.

I think the new Bills Coaching staff will be: Mort - Lead Liar Schefter - Apprentice Liar Peter King - Travel Manager John Clayton-Paranormal Activity Coordinator Jay Glazer - Windbag Pete Prisco - Gadfly Vic Carrucci - Special Assistant for local color Jerry Sullivan - Johnny Rain Cloud Coordinator Coach Sal-Head Coach Joe Logan - Wine taster Pat Moran - Marketing and Promotions Lowest paid staff of hacks in the league. Ralph will love it. -
Imagine the cross branding and marketing slogan opportunities if that was his name... Kotex has the Bills ABSORBING a lot of blows Kotex's team sure has a LEAKY secondary In a new twist on an old offense Kotex has the Bills moving to the WING-t This is a bloody game but Kotex's Bills appear to be holding up well The Bills are cold hearted blood suckers under Kotex

Cowher the Cowher is Cowher for Cowher in Cowher's Cowher
JoeF replied to bills_red's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice job SunTan. So here's the thing.... What we are really talking about here: $7M more a year for the head coach $5M more for the staff ($1M for each coordinator position and maybe $200K-300K more for the assistants) $20M more in bonus and salary money for the players That's $32M Toronto Revenue stays the same for the next couple of years at about $15.75M per year Bills operating profit today is about $25M (The Toronto money plus about $10M) To keep the revenue at $25M we would need to find $32M in revenue..but lets assume Ralph will split the difference with us fans--we pay half and he cuts his revenue to $16M a year... Each game day generates about $60 per fan in net per game (Concessions, parking, ticket price suites, etc. included) -- we have 9 X 73,000 per seat to work with to drive the added $16M. Thats..$24 per seat more add in higher concession prices and parking prices...the ticket price has to go up by about 3/4 that amount -- or $18 per seat/game. $18 x 9 - $162 a year So my question is -- would you be willing to pay about $160 more per seat per year to get Bill Cowher and split the difference so that Ralph remains in the black. I am.. Let's get this !@#$ing deal done. -
Mike Sherman sure had a nice run as Bills coach.....

I won't believe this until hammerslot.org reports it and Cowher pets Buddy the Wonder Dog as part of his meet and greet with key members of the Bills team. -
When I got the text..I said "most obtuse reference to firing, ever". Congrats to Scott or whoever came up with that....its like when they started calling layoffs -- "reductions in force" or "limited restructuring"
