I know there's a Georgia Tech fan on board
JoeF replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every week we win is a joy---but the question of the thread is "Is the bliss temporary?" or "Could we be setting the building blocks for future that includes a few years of having legitimate shots of playing into late January or dare I say February?" A lot of that is based on the skill Coach Chan has in consistently coming up with ways to scheme to the talent of our players. For example, look how many times Roscoe was either in motion or behind some sort of screen/pick in the first 7 games--Roscoe can't get off the line very well when he is on the line and stationary--yet for 5 years we used him that way mainly...who in the firetruck knows why..... The question is can Gailey take this talent, mold it with new talent we acquire and build a consistent winner. I tipped an Irish Coffee on Sunday night at the Pig and Whistle in New York after the Furthur concert at MSG--I did live in the moment--but I want a long term winner. -

We just suffered through 10 years of either "on the job training (Mularkey and Williams)" or whiter than vanilla (Jauron) in coaching. We have also suffered through Rob, JP and Trent. 3 QBs with really good athleticism but 10 cent heads when it comes to the speed of decision making at the NFL level. Anything resembling an offensive scheme and a QB with an NFL speed mind is going to look really, really good right now. Its only two wins...its only a few games...still not sure if this is an oasis or a mirage. This week is a true test---if we can do to the Steelers what we did to the Bears and Ravens---the water and palm tree in the middle of the desert just might be real.... -
Twins perhaps.....or brothers from another mother

Thanks for the research Doc..obviously posted before I checked weights... Is Troy P.'s weight with a full head of hair?...I bet he is 230 if you include the small animals and birds nests that reside in his fro...

Nice Story John. My only concern is that Donte is a little smallish to take the pounding of a true strong safety...he is kind of a tweener between free and strong...good news is he is probably a bit faster than the typical strong but he might take too much of pounding. All that said--hope he has a career year... Looks like most of the D like the 3-4 and coach Edwards.

This isn't about leadership or classiness. Its two kids in their early twenties playing a violent game. The rules of protocol and the tolerance of violent behavior is totally different than in normal interactions. In business, governance, relationships what Wood said is wrong. It was a personal attack. But even great leaders in these arenas have angry moments in public where they say things they regret or that are inappropriate. The truth is Maybin has not met expectation and has not earned his pay --but if you have a real issue with that you "man up" and say it to him face to face in private and if you are team guy you keep knocking the hell out of him on the field until he begins to improve or quits. I think Eric Wood will do this part as well. For now -- this debate is making Mount Everest out of a Maple Road overpass...... This is football -- we may finally have a coach that wants to prepare a team to play football..we should be celebrating.

Video of the "brawl" is now up on bb.com.... http://www.buffalobills.com/media-lounge/v...a6-f4650ed802e1 It must be a really, really slow news day....Where's Steve Smith breaking jaws when you need him. Its nice to see a little fire. Its also nice to see a little jawing. What Wood said to Maybin is no worse than the usual "when i porked your wife last night she said it was nice to finally have a real freaking man" banter that usually goes on... Nice to see a little fire. By the way--really nice catch and run by Marcus Easley and a great INT by Davis....

He has done nothing but play hard, develop into a really good run defender and refine his already good pass rushing skills over the course of his career. I can remember at least 7 or 8 times in his career when he dropped in to the flat to defend a pass against either a back or a QB on a halfback option. He will make the transition to OLB much quicker and better than Kelsay because he has the speed and drop ability. He can be a 3 down OLB. He will be a significant addition to this team. This means that Batten likely ends up on the practice squad. He is an amazing athlete who is at the end of his prime years...we need him and this will help make this defense a formidable strength. Look at our front 7 depth.....we actually have 2 deep of NFL players at every position if Schobel comes back.. DE-Stroud, Johnson, Edwards NT-Troup, Williams OLB-Kelsay, Schobel, Maybin, Torbor ILB-Poz, Mitchell, Davis and we all know about the secondary.....all proven vets except Troup and Maybin who both have considerable natural skills

Yeah--that kind of possession......

just got the text. Bills have found their wang. Maybe a sign of good things to come.

You can't trade for him without going in the $8-10M a year range but if we are going to use a #1 on an LT next year -- we likely will pay at least $5M a year (round 1) or $2-3M a year (round 2) for a player that hasn't played a lick in the NFL. There are opportunities that need to be grasp. This is one of them....24 years old, 2 years experience, a top performer in terms of grading out....

Gaither is like a proven draft pick. He's 24....and has had two successful years. Its not like an aging vet...the whole Buddy loves draft picks excuse doesn't work here. Demetrius Bell or Jared Gaither on the blind side? Bell is two years older than Gaither.....

NFL Network ---- come on CL......your company deserves it...we love you though. Tim--thanks for your presence on this site--your informed opinion has been a huge draw for me. Besides you are an OAC guy. I have to support you. Go Marietta Pios... When is polite disagreement going to re-enter society. Do personal attacks make an argument better? Nope....they make it immature.
