  1. I was thinking same thing about Eugene... This is 1 deal we MUST get done. A pro bowl level safety in "the new NFL" where teams throw more than ever is crucial. We already have a huge hole at SS, we must get Byrd signed long term. This is not a guard that we knew was gonna get over paid like (LEvitre) in FA.. Signing Byrd who is still very young and a building block for the D just has to get done. I dont blame him for not showing at OTA's... SHOW HIM THE MONEY! we have the cap space and if we have to over pay a bit.. so be it... like i said, this is not a guard who can be replaced by someone in mid rounds or landing a guys through waivers or late FA cuz some vet is always a late cut. If there is 1 thing Buddy HAS done a good job at (and it may be just 1 thing!) is grabbing guards.. Rhinehard, Urbik etc..
  2. LOL, i really remember this guy! he grew up near Montreal where i am from!
  3. I've been a huge believer in CJ from day 1... Back up RB's are easy to find and to be honest.. Choice is not a bad back up either... solid vet, who can catch few balls out of back field.. This will be a Shotgun fast paced, style of offense. No doubt in my mind... They are "hinting" at it, but it is rather obvious at this point. Our D, is in MUCH better shape by subtraction (Wanny) who couldnt scheme if his life depended on it.. We still need to shore up LB corp and hopefully another solid corner, but with Byrd at FS and Searcy/ Williams if they move him over (which would be very smart, much more cut out for a safety than a CB. Our D has same potential it had last yr. We did absolutely nothing creative with our biggest asset, our front 4. I anticipate a lot more stunts, blitzes and flipping back and forth from 3/4 to a 4/3 alot and Bryant was a great addition and can play in both schemes and most importantly, it fits Dareus who is the key.. He had to deal with his brothers death early in seaon and was not same guy we saw year b4. He will be back, and ready to go... Which leads me to... Trading Fjax... we will be throwing alot out of that offense and even though Freddy is a good receiver out of backfield, he is up there in age, has coming off 2 seasons where he's been injured and would give CJ ball more by simply subtracting him from equation. We will not command a lot of value on block, but getting maybe a 4th and lets say a 6th, in a draft that in loaded in mid rounds when we only have 6 picks and need to shore up OL, get a QB (either 1st or 2nd), and MUST get a guy that can play from day 1 at WR.. no more "project" WR's... TJ is fine as a 3rd at BEST, we need a legit WR2, that can be a starter and a FACTOR from day 1... we will be throwing ball alot and need playmakers outside BADLY.. i think we NEED to adress this in 2nd or at worst 3rd... Teams like GB, SF would be GREAT fits for Freddy and would be sending him to a contender which is no disrespect to a pleyer who has been a "good guy". He may not be lead back on either squad, but would get as much work if not more than he will behind CJ. Marrone and Hackett must be foaming at mouth knowing they have a weapon like CJ. The guy will make at least 1 BIG play a game, be it on a run, or catch... I'd love to see us guy a kid like Hunter in the 2nd and a TE like Kelse (spelling) in 3 or 4th..
  4. There is no chance we draft back into the first round, ESPECIALLY if its not for a QB! We only have 6 draft picks with many holes to fill. This is a very strong draft, just not a "top heavy" draft. The depth of this draft are in both DL and OL. Losing an extra pick would be very tough to do unless its for a the QB they were sure about. Also, if they were that sure of a QB, he will probably get selected with our own 1st pick and do what Phins did with Tannenhill. Tannehill was not graded where he got drafted but Phins knew if they passed on him there, he would not be there when they drafted in 2nd round.
  5. I'm not a Geno fan, but this has gotta be the harshest critique i've seen from a QB who is ranked #1 Qb by soooo many others...
  6. sorry, dont have the time nor the patience to read through every Geno thread especially one that is 600 replies..
  7. www.profootballweekly.com/2013/04/01/barkley-smith-scouting-reports Check out this analysis on Geno.... Per Adam Shefter's tweet
  8. Since when is Oklahoma is the SEC????? LMAO
  9. He would be a very solid mid level pick up as long as we dont over pay and keep deal 2 , MAX 3 yr (hopefully the 3rd being a team option). Would fit in nicely assuming he and Chandler are healthy. 2 very different style TE's. Chandler has decent hands along with great size but YAC is not a forte of his. Davis has more speed and considering how so many TE;s are split out nowadays, he suits that role nicely. Signing up as well as a WR would be excellent news prior to draft and keep our options alot more opened coming draft day.
  10. No.... only way it even has a CHANCE at happening is if we got Geno Smith and NFL wants to show the top rookie QB vs Champs who are dismantled..
  11. I'm all for Barkley or Geno if either fall to us. If both are selected which could happen cuz Qbs always get "over rated" come draft day. Someone will fall in love with a QB based on his pro-day (Geno). If this situation occurred and we did move Glenn back to guard, only tackle worth that spot is Fisher (excluding Jeockel who will be gone by #8). To use a top 10 pick on the OL when for the 1st time in a long time is a position of strength! Just doesnt seem to make sense. Fitz was barely touched last year and we threw more than the league average yet couldnt complete a pass more than 7 yards downfield.. and thats being generous! Even though, Geno and Barkley are not Luck and RG3, they are both very good QB;s which would fit nicely in an tempo/ west coast style of offense which seems likely which new regime. We need to address WR2 in top 3 rounds and make sure NOT to get a "project type" WR which we have done in the past (Hardy, Graham). Graham could progress a lot in year 2 but at BEST we will be a solid WR3. In this era, u NEED a slot guy that can cause damage after the catch.. A guy like Ryan Swope who be a GREAT selection in 2nd.
  12. PERFECT answer! in all seriousness though, SF would be a perfect fit for him.. Another team who seems to be spending rather freely that would make a lot of sense is Titans.. With Locker at QB, who hasnt "lit it up" by any means and was dinged up few times last year and with Hasselback most likely not being back, that could be a great spot for him. I hated him as our "starting" QB but by no means do i wish ill towards the guy.. He was a hard worker and very well liked within organization.. problem was his shortcoming were ALL on the field! We still would make for a very solid back-up for a team with a younger QB at the helm and can be a spot starter for short term in the #1 gets hurt. He is type of guy that will learn whatever offense coach has installed quickly and is obviously a very intelligent guy and can be like a 2nd QB coach/ mentor for a younger kid.
  13. Now that the inevitable happened and Fitz is gone, we are left with just T. Jackson at QB. It has become more and more obvious each day, that we will not have a choice, we MUST grab a QB in round 1 or 2 (most likely 1). Every year, there is a QB with a round 2-3 grade that falls.... If we were to select Barkley or Geno in the 1st (only 2 guys even worth LOOKING at, let alone selecting with the 8th pick overall). Guys like Nassib, Jones, Manuel, Glennon, Wilson, Bray and Dysert are the next "tier" of signal callers... With the uncertainty of Barkley and Geno, hedging our bets, and selecting a 2nd QB ala Washington from last year makes more and more sense. Coming into last seaon, the Skins had more holes than we do right now, most notably QB.. Unfortunately for us, we are not blessed with the scenario of selecting a blue chip like RG3 but unlike the Skins, at least we wont have to sacrifice other picks. Even with choosing RG3, they elected to draft another QB in Cousins who was considered a top 5-6 QB prospect last year. At least one of the 2nd tier QB's will fall to the 4th and possibly even the 5th.. With just 1 QB on the roster, and even if we do sign another whom i doubt will be a starting caliber QB or significant upgrade over Jackson. Hackett and Marrone are fresh from the college ranks, and very used to working with young QB's and to take a flyer in the 4th or 5th on a 2nd guy like the Skins did last year would be a great idea.. RC
  14. we dont even have a QB let alone a QB coach! LOL
  15. He is a gifted WR but the problem is he have too many holes to reach and draft a WR with our 1st.. i really hope we are smart and trade down and get a extra pick or 2. This draft has sooooo many positions with no clear cut #1 or true order... The top 3-4 QB's has no prospect even in same league as Luck and RG3. The top 4-5 WR;s are also very up in the air... we could easily snag a WR (which is a must) with our 2nd rounder... Patterson's own teammate is rated very closely to him in Justin Hunter who is a beast as well... How The Vols didnt do better with 2 WR's that are like 6'3 and 6'4 with insane speed AND a QB who will most likely also be a top 2 round pick in Bray is nuts,,, Then u have Terrance Williams who is electric as well as well as the kid from Cal... those WR's are all BIG WR's who also have break away speed... Either way, we need to get SJ13 some help on outside.I wouldnt be surprised if they chose to bring in a FA tho and again draft a WR in 3-4 round like we have done in recent years with Easley and Graham.. Graham was very out of place as a rookie but this kid can fly and was open on deep balls often and Fitz couldnt get the ball there. BARKLEY is the guy we NEED to take in the 1st round. Marrone's O has a lot of west coast and hurry up and Barkley is the best QB even though he didnt have the heisman kinda yr most "experts" predicted. No matter how good or fast your WR;s are, if you dont have the right QB to get them the ball, it wont matter...
  16. I love when ppl bring up foolish topics like this... Just like when announcers talk about a team history vs another like 10 years back... what difference does it make??? different players, different coaches, and the league CHANGES with the times.. The style of QB's in this league have changed... Barkley would actually be the BEST fit for Marrone system which will probably have a lot of "west coast" offense along with a lot of hurry up style of attack. Barkley doesnt have the biggest arm of the QB's coming out but coming into the year he was considered the consensus #1 QB in nation. He struggled a bit this yr but was not only him. That D couldnt stop anyone. No running game and OL was far from good. All of the QB;s out there, they ALL have question marks but Barkley is the best of the bunch. I just pray we dont end up with Nassib....
  17. Lovie would be "best"choice for DC, but doubtful it occurs unless he is not given a HC gig. Of the fired coaches, i see him getting a shot somewhere else as a HC over most of others with exception od Reid and he was already snatched up. He expressed interest in coming here which is a good sign and i think the main reason he liked our squad was the potential we have in the front 4.. If we bring in a DC of his caliber, he will do a much better job than DW with a talented but under achieving D. Our DL is well above average and has potential to be top 10. LB's are a joke but work "should" be done their in offseason and secondary will have Gilmore now in his 2nd yr which tends to be the yr that young CB's flourish and even though he only had 1 int, he has still rated highly for his rookie yr. Our other CB's are a mess but gems in rough can be found there and if we re-sign Byrd who with Andy will be the 2 KEY guys that must be resigned, our D has a lot of potential with not THAT many tweaks... to be honest... just having a DC with HALF a brain , should be able to even turn last yr squad into a middle tier D, a GOOD DC, could get us in top 10. Major issue i see regarding Lovie, is he wanted HC job here, after not getting it and being passed up for a college coach.... dont think we would rank high as his 'want' list... u never know though.. hopefully no one signs him as HC cuz our DC job is one with most potential out there and especially coming off such an awful yr, a guy like Lovie could come in and shake things up and get a lot more just by scheming differently.
  18. That would sure make it alot easier to kick him in nuts! LMAO!
  19. 110%.. RB's get dinged up all the time and if he can come to training camp already accepting his role which should still get him 8-10 carries and plenty of time on ield in passing situations cuz Spiller is better off split out wide having BOTH on field, or vice- versa depending on situation.. having 2 starting CALIBER RB'S is a great comfort zone for whomever our QB is. FJ has always been a team leader and RB would be are BEST position on team again.
  20. Kelly/ Mccoy / Lovie 3 best choices.. Kelly would be the "fancy" choice.. Mccoy dont forget, WAS the reason Fox is still in Denver.. When Tebow came in, Fox was NOT the one who designed ANYTHING for that offense with a QB with no arm and b4 other teams got enamored with the spread option which was a product of so many of the young QB's that emerged being very athletic. Fox wanted to keep the offense very vanilla which they did for most games through the 1st 3 quarters and only let Tebow "do his thing" in the 4th Q and Mccoy was the guy running that offense. Obviously this year he had a toy at QB that ANY OC would die for in Peyton Manning but the fact is, Denver is the #1 seed in the AFC and that offense has been spectacular.. Manning alone, could make most teams O look dynamite but there is STILL an OC involved and he was able to basically SCRAP the enitre playbook from last yr with a Tebow led offense to a Manning style O. Thats not easy as easy as it sounds cuz obviously Manning knew that system inside and out, but D. Thomas and Decker are both young WR's and Thomas has emerged as great Deep threat and Decker as a great possession WR and both together combined with bringing in Stokley who has worked so well with Manning in past even tho Stokley has been irrelevant really past few yrs and come up with some crucial plays this yr. Mccoy doesnt a TON of credit, more so than Fox IMO... cuz if Mccoy didnt get what he got from Tebow last yr, and they bombed out and went 5-11 or 4-12, Fox may be where Gailey is... UE line!
  21. still do.. the guy doesnt know which divisions team play in and i've met the dude several times here in Fla at functions.. the guy is dumb as bricks.. i'm happy as hell hes the dolphins cuz they will NEVER go anywhere with him..
  22. Why would he want to leave his dad??? To build his OWN career????? Dont know about you, but if i were a coach at the HIGHEST level and helped build the success that team had... I'd want to be the HEAD coach, not just the OC.. Unfortunately, RG3's dont come knocking every yr but look at that supporting cast... a 6th round RB who played his college ball here in Boca, their #1 WR being injured a chunk of season, lost their TE who was a key target in the offense and a worse group of WR's than us... Kyle's a young guy, been living the game his entire life and he WILL be a head coach in his league, if not this yr, next yr.
  23. The ONLY enticing asset we got for a guy like Chip Kelly, is CJ Spiller. Kelly's O is a run first and involves lots of screens and short passes, wont be as drastic for OL and WR corp to adjust to. CJ would EASILY be a 1600 yard rusher with 10 plus TD's and beauty of Kelly's offense is it can work with a lot of diff types of QB's.. it is based on speed and tempo and even if he had a QB like an Alex Smith, it would work or can draft "his" QB of his choice which would be the most likely situation. If we were fortunate enough to get Kelly, and thts a HUGE IF! we should pair him with an aggressive, in your face DC.. draft Teo in 1st and u have face of your D for next decade..... Its the year... We can dream!!
  24. Would be either Kyle Shanahan or Chip Kelly.. The NFL is a different game nowadays and these 2 guys especially Shanahan with his work with the Washington offense and RG3 would give us a coach that can be dynamic on offense.. Shanahan is in early 30's and been coaching for 9+ years already... Obviously grew up in football cuz of his pops and is ready to be his own man... i would LOVE to see Kyle get a shot... Chip Kelly is a pipe dream cuz if he did make the leap to the NFL, it would not be here even though the key to his offense is speed and Spiller would put up Madden type numbers in his offense..
