With all due respect, you're wrong. I know plenty of 18 year old punks who joined on 9/12/2001 and are now mid-to-late 30's career military men who have fought multiple tours of duty in the Middle East. When duty calls, punk kids turn to adults really quick. If duty called today, there'd be thousands of young punks who drop out of high school a week short of graduation to go off and die heroes.

I wonder what these people's reactions would have been had the gorilla killed the boy. It's a bad situation all around, but I'd much rather the headline be what it is rather than the other outcome.

Talk to them??? I borrowed a very long, heavy duty hose from my neighbor just last week to fill a pool. The sprayer nozzle was locked in place. After about 10 minutes of struggling, I worked out a deal. He cut the hose apart, I use and keep hose, I buy him new hose and sprayer to make it up. Done deal. My advice, just talk to them... There's a high probability that they just don't know normal neighborly etiquette since they're young and naive. Maybe they'll pay for your blade, maybe not. Maybe they'll just say "i owe you" and make it up some other way (labor, trade, etc.) If they're jerks about it, lower the blade and ruin their lawn, or dump chemicals into the septic vent to screw with them.

I got a job on my 16th birthday not because I had to, but because I wanted to. My parents instilled many things into me. One was work ethic, the other is integrity. If my son wants to mow lawns for a girl or even for weed, so be it, but it won't be a news story. If my son is mowing lawns for weed and it is publicized as a way to earn money for a girl, he better damn well stand up and tell the truth. I'm thinking the punishment for lying would be FAAAR worse than the punishment for weed.
