RG tapping center to start play? (Timing of snap)
The Dean replied to timekills17's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gotcha. But some teams vary how long they actually snap the ball after the "signal". In other words, they don't always snap it 1 second after the tap, for example. They vary the timing after the "all set" signal. Now I'm not sure how they go about that, but it seems some teams keep the D off balance a bit more. Just my observation. -
RG tapping center to start play? (Timing of snap)
The Dean replied to timekills17's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you are missing the point of his question. Mostly not about the touching, clapping, footlift, but about the TIMING. Snapping 1 (or 2) seconds after the tap, on every play, is the main issue here. Going on the same snap count all game. At least I think that's the OP's major point. And yes, it would serve them well to vary the timing throughout the game to keep the defense honest. Of course, you risk more offensive movement penalties as well. -
Do you guys still talk to your childhood friends?
The Dean replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My best friend today, JD, has been my best friend since kindergarten. We are both currently 62 years old. His younger brother (who was born while JD and I were in kindergarten) was also among my best friends until he passed away when he was only 47. I also have many friends I met in grade school, high school, college. Keeping friendships for that long, especially when you all move to various parts of the country, takes work---time, effort, etc. Good friends are too valuable to not work to keep, IMO. -
Agree 100%. It's EASIER to go to a bar, but is is better? Not for me. IMO, if the Bills move their stadium downtown we'll adapt and survive. But I'm again' it. I love the current, unique, pre-game atmosphere at the Cap. And, yes, there is a bit too much craziness. But if you don't bother with that, or hang out at those tailgates, I can't understand why it would bother you all that much. Now, I'm no longer in WNY so my opinion means squat and I understand that.

I've been mulling this, and I really think Ginger's drumming may have been one big factor in the development of my musical tastes. While I tend more toward jazz, standards, blues, I do also listen to a lot of "rock". But examining the rock bands I really like, most of them have some sort of underlying jazz groove going on. Even some you necessarily wouldn't associate with jazz. Early Blue Oyster Cult had a lot of jazzier stuff going on. Santana, Zappa, Little Feat, Steely Dan, Traffic and Cream, etc. I think I owe more to Ginger than I initially thought.

You are probably right about license plates. But that doesn't negate his statement that "a lot of Bills fans" might have come from TN. Both of those things can be true. Yes, it certainly can be.
-
What was "factually inaccurate" about letsgoteam's post? That he didn't see many NY plates? That many former WNYers might actually live in Tennessee or nearby enough to drive? That he knew a lot of people from NY came? I can't see anything you posted that contradicts anything he/she posted.

Bills fans table breaking needs to calm down

Awesome, Irv. And I think they should give people who try (and fail) to commit suicide the death penalty. That'll teach 'em. -
Zay Jones traded to Raiders for 5th rounder
The Dean replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you are correct there. If Raider fans think they made a good deal, they're right! Giving up a 5th, two years out, is VERY inexpensive payment for Zay. If he works out, it's a STEAL. If it doesn't, they lost a 2021 5th round pick. They have plenty of draft capital, they won't miss it. If they think they got a slam dunk great player, well then they might be disappointed. The Bills got a draft pick they can package to make a future trade. If they keep it, we've seen what Beane can do with later round picks. Both sides should be relatively happy but neither should be gloating. -
I just want to say, barhopping isn't tailgating. There seem to be posts confusing the two. I'll take tailgating any day, before a football game.

You realize these people also call themselves "Bills Fans"? Take away the Billsmafia hashtag, and they are simply Bills Fans doing stupid things. The Billsmafia name has NOTHING to do with them doing stupid thing. But if you call yourself a "Bills Fan" you are also associated with these fans, because that's what they are. But neither one of us has any idea of what "most people" associate with the BillsMafia name, unless you have some scientific data to point to. Then again, a BIG BRAIN like yours doesn't need any stinking data. Your KNOW because---well, that's what you think. Brilliant! I'm done with this, I can't have an intelligent conversation with someone who lives in their own head. -
Zay Jones traded to Raiders for 5th rounder
The Dean replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, it was discussed earlier in the thread. Until this thread I never knew Zay's father was ever a twitter weirdo. I'm so happy I miss most of this crap. -

Zay Jones traded to Raiders for 5th rounder
The Dean replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good question re: Foster. From what I understand he hasn't been healthy yet this season, but perhaps that's just smoke (not that Smoke). Even though he isn't a complete WR, Josh and he did seem to establish a connection last year. Hard to believe he fell that dramatically if he is healthy, and working to get better. But anything is possible, I guess. -

Well you were wrong about your called shot. You knew you might be. So just admit you were wrong about that. That's all I'm saying. Some of the content in your post was quite good (though nothing that revelatory). Like I said, a little humble/modest post about how you had so much right, but were WRONG with your prediction might have served you better. Just sayin. -

The Dean replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not a hater, but who calls their shot in a headline "Calling it now!" and then misses on that very prediction. Yes, your content was fine. But your prediction was WRONG. Stop backpeddinng and especially MUGGING with a picture of the disgusting phony athlete who can't seem to see fingers. Seriously, a modest "I was close" might have worked. But a taunting LAMP celebration is a bad look, when your prediction is WRONG. "Yeah! We lost. But I was right about what we needed to do. Suck on it!" See, not a good look. That's the point I was trying to make. -

It's obvious, you are a very deep thinker. Yes everybody interprets things exactly like you do. No need for research!! And as for the name ALWAYS being negative, somebody alert the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Oakland Raiders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bandits, etc. -
Zay Jones traded to Raiders for 5th rounder
The Dean replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Indeed. But picking a guy who doesn't pan out isn't necessarily "a mistake" one needs to admit to. If you have a process, and if that process has proven to work, you follow the process. You won't always be right. But if you followed the process, and you look back and say "Given the info we had at the time, would we make the same decision?" If the answer is "Yes", then it isn't a mistake. It's a bad beat, perhaps. But whatever you call it, when you've decided it isn't working, you have to move on. Same with fans. Holding a grudge because the team didn't pick the guy you KNEW would be great, is just stupid, IMO. Move on. -
Taylor Lewan appreciation thread
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed I know this won't be a popular take, but I really hope McDermott has a little chat with Phillips and Lawson about this. Not a reprimand, or anything. Just a reminder that this is not the Bills way while he is in charge. Yes, Lewan is a complete A-Hole, but let it be in public. Stay classy. -
Zay Jones traded to Raiders for 5th rounder
The Dean replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That probably won't get it done from what I'm hearing. Just FYI I didn't jump on Alpha early in his initial prediction post, but he was WRONG. You make a bet/prediction and you stick to it. You don't fudge. Had he said "Zay won't make it to the midpoint of the season" he would have deserved props. -

Not sure why you would include an gif of a mook professional wrestler doing his a-hole bit? Is this the way to say "I was wrong"? He WAS on the opening day roster and survived through week 5. I know it was tough for Fonzie, but you can do it. Just man up and admit it. -
Bills fans are everywhere - even in Oregon
The Dean replied to WideNine's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Thread tangential post: My friends The Senator and Charley and I managed to convince a bar in SF to open at 10AM (instead of noon), buy the NFL Ticket (brand new at the time) and show the Bills in the early 90's. Keep in mind, the place already had C-band and Ku-band satellites on the roof. It took the owners (brothers) about 30 seconds to decide to do it, on the condition I bartend every Sunday morning. That place is the North Star, shown in this picture from the Buffalo News yesterday: https://buffalonews.com/2019/10/06/an-enigma-wrapped-in-a-riddle-the-palo-alto-guy-in-bills-zubasz-pants/ Charley now lives in Portland, Oregon and can be spotted on Sunday haunting the downtown bars and watching the Bills. Not sure what bar he frequents for the game. I'll have to find out. -

Writing was on the wall. I wish Zay well, unless he is playing the Bills. But a 2021 5th rounder? Hope they threw in a roll of tape, too. -
