  1. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/06/20/nflpa-recommends-that-players-stop-practicing-together/ https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/06/20/bucs-confirm-positive-tests-say-those-exposed-will-quarantine-for-14-days/ 14 day quarantine. Then, should any of them get bad symptoms, how much after that before they are ready to actually play? Doesn't mean much now, but when it happens during the season (assume it will))?
  2. Just something to read and consider: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/29/sports/coronavirus-survivors-athletes.html
  3. Burke said it very well: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
  4. Yes, no surprise there. But unfortunately science has been politicized since, well, the beginning of time perhaps? On the one hand you have politicians who don't really understand the science and are simply focused on keeping their base of supporters happy. Some who think they know more than what the consensus of experts suggest. Then a few others (like the PM of New Zealand) who have basically turned over the handling of this pandemic to the scientific experts. Copernicus would find this all very familiar, I think.
  5. That's the logical conclusion to what those who solely blame more testing for the higher positive rates, but they never seem to recognize that and/or admit it.
  6. Spot on. But the leadership in the country and in many states seem to have the lack of comprehension and vision as the poster below. Highly INFECTIOUS disease. The health risks are not to the players alone. And even if they were, your lack of understanding of what can happen (yes, even to younger seemingly healthy individuals) suggests you are avoiding any legitimate medical news sources. Try Hapless's Covid 19 Information thread in Off The Wall.
  7. Not sure how this is relevant to the conversation. The reason they might shut down has nothing to do with their excitement level.
  8. Believe it or not, I've NEVER been to the southern keys, let alone Key West. Back when I was in grad school and bartending at the Youngstown Yacht Club, a bar owner from Key West offered me a job two years in a row. (I know, drunk bar owners offer jobs all the time and then don't come through.) But like I said, i was in school and so couldn't test the offer. I hope to get down there shortly after things get to a point where I feel safe traveling.
  9. IMO, the key will be to delay any rash decision. They can't be bullied into doing something too soon, and having the thing go sideways. (Was going to say "breasts-up. but figured it would get censored. Let's see.) So far I think they've been smart at delaying every decision as long as they can. A false start is hard to recover from, IMO. EDIT Breasts-up! ? Now that's a funny edit.
  10. I know I blasted Bob's last big release. But I should have considered the guy's age. Anyway, he's clearly one of the all time greats. Happy Birthday.
  11. Have. Do. Will continue. Don't get me wrong. I avoid controversial topics with clients, strangers in bars, casual acquaintances, etc. But with people (even in a workplace setting if deemed appropriate) honestly looking for a serious conversation, then I let them know what I think. I even try to dissuade my current clients from talking any sort of politics, let alone race relations, but when pushed I tell them what I think---in the most respectful manner I can--most of the time. But I've been having blunt conversations about race with friends, family and anyone else who will listen for many years. It's appalling it has to have come to this for some to even try to understand.
  12. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/06/19/report-mlb-considering-shutting-down-all-30-spring-training-sites/ It's another negative sign. But not the death knell.
  13. As I'm sure most of you have heard, Florida set a new record for Covid cases today. (Florida Man's reaction? "WooHoo! We beat the record!!!") The governor seems to be saying the only reason the number of cases are so high is there is much more testing going on. So if we don't' test there are no cases. Now that's just freakin' brilliant!
  14. I don't think it matters WHY you were in contact with a large number of people, so I wouldn't ask a question that way. It's good enough (I think) to know IF not WHY. Asking a well constructed question about if a person has had contact with any large gatherings should be good enough. If they test positive, the venue of the contact would be helpful as well, of course. But I don't see any real line to draw here, other than that.
  15. I take no issue with them not asking people if they attended a protest for George Floyed/BLM (or any other protest) or a political rally (for Trump or any other politician). However, I would have added a question asking if they have been in any large gatherings where they might not be familiar with the all the others in the group. And I also support joining the marches and protests, but I DO expect more Covid cases related to them and other large events. Oh, and if you are protesting, I'd also advise "Wear a Mask!"
  16. Can they ask if the person has been anywhere with large groups of people? If so, wouldn't that be satisfactory without knowing the purpose of the gathering? I'm not sure the purpose has any bearing on the outcome.
  17. Of course. So what do the bulk of very credible scientists believe and espouse currently? I'm talking about those who have the input from many of the other best scientists in the field? (Take Faucci, for example.) I'm not sure looking for outliers (particularly from older data and articles) and using those as your model is an intelligent way to proceed. You can always find conflicting opinions.
  18. I've already used my allotment of Globe articles, so I am unable to access it. But I would bet the analysis of EVERY AFC East team is hyperbolically negative. If so, it's obviously not meant to be taken literally. If I'm wrong in my guess, then perhaps there is SOME legitimacy to those who's are butt-hurt.
  19. Did you look at the date on that article? Not only did you simply pick a small section to highlight, it's nearly a month old. The thinking on masks has evolved since that time, due to the SCIENCE involved.
  20. I can't see anything wrong with this subject, either. How would I FEEL about a 6 game season. I'd hate it. It would suck, Would I watch it and be excited for each game? Damn right. If the Bills were to win the SB, then there should be no asterisk! If the Pats* win, there definately should be. Any other team? Don't care.
  21. They had mead's wife? That's quite sporting of the meads.
  22. That's a refreshing story.
  23. As good of an explanation as I can think of. And I have never had a Beer Store (or Brewer's Retail before them) bundle two 12's or four 6's for the price of a case. So my guess is, it's company wide. From what several Beer Store employees have told me (at various stores) only Americans visiting, and a few real old timer Canadians, drink the stuff. I believe Bud products are now the biggest sellers in Canada, or so I've heard. So sad.
  24. Lamb likely got infected at a June 14 reelection event, he said. Video from the event, in San Tan Valley, Arizona, shows Lamb greeting and interacting with supporters, according to the Casa Grande Dispatch. Neither the sheriff nor the event's attendees wear masks in the video, it shows. https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/18/us/gop-sheriff-arizona-covid-19-trnd/index.html Complete freaking morons. What else is there to say?
  25. Not doubting your story, but that really doesn't seem to make sense (unless I'm not understanding). It is true Stock is only sold in 24 bottle cases. But why would selling in smaller units result in more out of date returns? It should be quicker to finish a 6 pack, or a 12 pack, than the entire case? Are they thinking people will buy a 6 pack and not like it, so wait until it goes out of date then return it? Can consumers return beer to the Beer Store (and well after purchase}?
