  1. What happened to Howard Simon? I enjoyed him when he was in the FM station. He didn't deal in fake controversy, talked sports and was pretty thoughtful. Discussing multiple sides of a situation isn't very common (or popular, apparently) on radio talk shows. I know he went to GR, but I never hear about him or read about him on TSW.
  2. Bill Miller also ended up with the Raiders (trade?). He caught two touchdowns in the SB. I run into him a lot at a couple local bars where he "spins the wheel" for happy hour, BTW, Pete Banaszak also lives nearby and it a client of mine. Both of these guys like to talk football.
  3. Does that make me a self-hating Wop?
  4. I've seen this asked by a few posters, so let's address it. It's become clear (well, clear as mud anyway) they expect Palmer to compete for the #2 spot. So there is that. But more to the point, sometimes you learn things from a co-worker, or underling, that you don't learn from a coach. There is a different dynamic there. Also he has a coach. If they bring Palmer in as a coach, what's his reporting responsibility? Does he have to check with the OC before suggesting something to EJ. The intricacies of human communication can be complicated. A peer can sometimes give a different impact, than a boss, to a message. Also, because he is a different person, he may have some different ideas, or suggestions. Having thrown 15, or 1,500, passes may not be relevant to the knowledge he has, and his ability to communicate it. Of course, his knowledge of the Bears offense might be a reason for the signing as well. But they also may not want to sign him as a coach as they don't expect him to be with the organization that long. I may be wrong, but you can dismiss an NFL player more easily than you can a coach without cause. I'm not worried about the roster spot right now. I'll be more concerned if Palmer looks as we expect on the field, and they do nothing else to shore up the #2 QB spot.
  5. This pretty much sums up this thread for me. When RI was with the Bills he was decent, but not much better. He was a restricted free agent who the Bills decided to not re-sign. I don't recall any complaints on The Wall when he left. People are pretty vocal around here when it comes to letting FA's walk. Especially a RFA. I guess because it's now 5 years later--long enough for Richie to get the Bills stink off of him (for those in the, "any player available is better than any player we have" camp). But the question remains, "is he a significantly better than what we already have at G?" First of all, I'm not sure he is better than all of our guards. If he is, then it is because we have a guy who is raw, but far more athletic, and probably more talented, who just needs some game time experience. Incognito has missed all the workouts, camp and preseason. What make you think he can show up and play to any acceptable level? Even if he worked out offseason, he will need some time to get into "football shape". By that time, we may not even need him. So the question remains, why bring in a total POS for minimal reward and mess with chemistry the Bills are trying to build with the OL? Well it's clear that one reason is because he isn't on our team, and that makes him very appealing to some here. But I think his reputation is another reason some like him---especially with his supposed harassment of Martin. It's clear that some here think that's a GOOD thing. "This ain't kindergarten" one poster noted. No s#!t. WTF does that have to do with anything. The NFL tolerates more BS from it's employees than most other employers, but being an idiot isn't a requirement for the job. You can be a total neanderthal and play football, but it's not required for the job. So, if you really believe the Bills would be better off with RI because you think he can step in off the street and instantly play at a high level, and do that with no detrimental impact on the line, and team in general, well fine. But I'd advise you to think about that a bit. But it's fairly clear that some of the "sign Incognito" comes from the same posters who value players who aren't on the team more than they value our own. And of course, for the guys who think that RI is cool because it's good to be a douchebag in football. Or that any number of "votes", asked in an Internet forum, is indicative of anything. OR that, even if this did represent the feelings of those on TSW, that it means anything whatsoever.
  6. Yes, indeed. Gotta keep your eyes on the wine glasses too, with all that wild gesticulation going on. Any good Italian conversation involved a LOT of arm waving. And all this talk of Capaccio gets me thinking of carpaccio. Yum!
  7. Agreed, While I'm not totally against him playing a few series, I'd rather he do it with the 1st string OL. EJ getting injured is the big loss in this "no lose" scenario.
  8. Wow. Very strange stuff. Glad you made it through. I know it's been said, but us old guys really do need to go to the doctor on occasion. Nothing wrong with having something checked out if you aren't feeling yourself. So, three nuns are walking through Central Park when they come across a flasher. Never having seen a naked man before (let alone one whipping off his trenchcoat and baring it all in a park) the first nun has a stroke. The second nun also has a stroke. But the third nun doesn't touch it.
  9. 1st response. Impressive. You'll do well during your incarceration.
  10. Since nobody is reporting the actual conversation, everything is speculation. Is it a good sign to have the GM and HC arguing in public? Probably not Do animated conversations, and even arguments, occur in healthy organizations? Of course they do. Was the argument likely about EJ? I don't think that's likely, as Whaley is high on EJ as demonstrated by his inaction on getting any real competition for him. Winning cures most ills, but losing exacerbates them. I can see a scenario, if the Bills have a particularly poor start to the season, where changes might be made. But you can say that about half the teams in the NFL. Anything to see here? Maybe, but at the moment, not much.
  11. Maybe your most intelligent post ever. But once again, you're wrong.
  12. Yo to Annie. Too bad about the Boneman.
  13. No s#%t. But consider the poster. Close to 1,500 content-free posts.

  15. AiI still around? How's Koko (AKA Big Gay Al)?
  16. Sure hope you are right, but I'll take a wait-and-see position. Either way, it will be done before too long (in the real world) and nowhere soon enough (for many here). BTW, just read Kryk's article from the 22nd (how did I miss that one?) taking issue with the Forbes article of last week. He noticed the same thing as I did, with the Forbes reported bids. I think these were the same numbers used by Onanian in his earlier article on the initial bids. What made me suspicious is he didn't reference the re-bid by JBJ or have any info on Golisano's bid.
  17. Woah, Nervous Dude! This reminds me, in my neighborhood ABC Liquor store, here in St Augustine Beach Florida, I spotted a display for some alcohol (I can't recall what it was, but it wasn't Tito's or Deep Eddy vodka). The sign said something to the effect of: Made by Texans, Exclusively for Texans". What the heck was it doing on a shelf in Florida?
  18. Not exactly news, but it's nice to see some sort of confirmation. Sept 9th is simply a deadline for the binding bids. There could be more negotiations after than. It seems unlikely at this point, to expect The Trust to make the October deadline. And I haven't heard any firm confirmation the NFL will consider this at the December meeting. Now there is a possibility The Trust already has a good idea on what the final bids might look like. And their desire to sell the team this year may give them some incentive to make things happen quickly once those bids are in. But, again, don't be surprised if this isn't put to bed for a while.
  19. I liked/like McCown. Thought he played better for the Bears than Cutler. Who knows if Whaley spoke with him? Just because the Bills didn't sign him, he may have had conversations with his agent. Whether he did or did not, I'm sure he knew McCown wasn't coming here, unless Marrone was willing to sit EJ for a year or two. Some here would make that move. I doubt Marrone would, nor would I.
  20. This concerns me greatly if he is being used as a #2 (or even #3) QB. It concerns me not at all if the plan is to use him as a de-facto QB coach. Many coaches haven't seen the field for many years. Some never did. And he won't be teaching EJ mechanics (or that's my understanding) it will be more cerebral.
  21. There's no accounting for bad taste.
  22. 7 pages on Jordan Palmer? We really are desperate to talk about stuff on The Wall! Fine pickup as a probably #3, who could served as a veteran influence on EJ. Perhaps makes the team as a #3 who is inactive on game day, but I have a feeling another shoe will drop before the season begins. Just a hunch.
