  1. No, the point is a developmental qb is a developmental qb. We always knew he was a project QB. Best case was to have him sit behind Kolb for a year, but workout mats. The reason Nassib isn't starting over Eli Manning, who isn't doing so hot lately, is because he isn't ready, and needs time to develop. Is it possible to draft a QB like Luck who is an instant success? Sure. Does it happen often? No. So we work with what we have - a developmental QB.
  2. Just a little note for those of you wishing we had other teams second string QB's because they did so well against Second string defenses. Manuel went 6/6 for 88 yards and a td in the 3rd quarter. Following drive he want 4/4 for 43 yards. (Fred Jackson running TD.) So against 2nd stringers Manuel totaled 10/10 for 131 yards and a TD in less than a quarter. I have no doubt that if Manuel was on another team as second string, and we had one of the other young QB's, we would be pointing to Manuel going "Look at this guy! Why didn't we know to get him!"
  3. It is also easy to run players out of town when they don't pass your "eye test". Fans should be QB scouts, they can easily tell if a QB's "got it".
  4. That is an exaggeration. There were a few 3rd stringers, but the majority were second string. Just to be clear, I have preseason live and the depth chart in hand.
  5. There were a few times that the Tampa D got to Manuel untouched, and on top of that there were more than that where they had their arms up runnings towards Manuel which made him rush his passes. At one point we had 5 (6 if you count Jackson staying back before going out as the safety valve) blocking 3, and a fourth one sacked Manuel untouched off the edge. O Line needs to be better. When it was better, he made some nice passes, when he had people in his face, he threw crappy inaccurate passes. That's not to say his non-rushed passes were perfect, but we have to give him time, and allow him to not have to look over his shoulder half a second after he gets the ball.
  6. A fan. The Seahawks have a similar playoff history as us in the last 20 years, and finally won their Super Bowl. I wonder how great the feeling was for the Seahawks fans who stuck with their team for their large playoff deficit, and finally getting their first ever Superbowl win. This isn't criticizing whether or not you prefer to do other things with your time, it is criticizing the fact that posts (Edit: Like the OP's) like these read like fans are done with the team and are turning in their fan card. i.e "I'll be back for the good stuff" Week 3 of preseason. Geez, there is a reason why they still play the games.
  7. Tampa's offense has been criticized so far this preseason as well. I have no doubt if we had Glennon there would be the exact same threads and complaints going on. For reference: http://espn.go.com/n...37/mike-glennon http://espn.go.com/n...15803/ej-manuel
  8. Ugh, I don't remember that. It made me sick when the Texans fans cheered when Schaub got hurt last year, and Chiefs fans booed when Cassel got up from being shaken up a few years ago. Or vice versa. I didn't think our fans would do that though. Edit: Just looked it up, yep vice versa.
  9. I agree it absolutely isn't wins/losses that is what I was trying to get across. It is absolutely about evaluating our players, and shouldn't be thought of as the final product. People need to stop jumping ship, but to each his own. If you don't think our offense can score a TD in the regular season I don't know what to say, I wouldn't say not scoring in the preseason is an indicator of that though. Our starters have barely played a full game and a half across all four games. Vanilla Defense trumps Vanilla Offense. Our offense was beyond straight forward. Everyone could see we were calling the same plays over and over. You don't have to have an exotic defense to play against that. I sure hope they haven't opened the playbook, because I fear Hackett doesn't know what he is doing. I understand that Marrone got tapped from Syracuse, because maybe he is ready to move to the NFL on the Head Coach level, but how does he get away with tapping his buddy Hackett as the offensive coordinator? I honestly think Hackett needs to go, but I will reserve my judgement til after this season.
  10. Agreed. Sitting with people watching the game, and all they focus on is the QB throwing and if it is incomplete or not. All I hear is "come on Manuel! Jesus!" They seemingly ignore the 1, 2 sometimes 3 defensive players bum rushing Manuel.
  11. Seriously. Carolina just got obliterated by the Patriots. Does anyone remember Carolina beating the Patriots last year? I do. I guess the Patriots just got a lot better, and the Panthers just got a lot worse, because we all know Preseason is an excellent indicator of what the major players in the season will look like. I mean look at the major players from last year: Houston - 3-1 (2-14 Reg) Cleveland - 3-1 (4-12 Reg) NY Jets - 3-1 (8-8 Reg) Washington - 4-0 (3-13 Reg) Detroit - 3-1 (7-9 Reg) And look at all the bad teams: Green Bay - 1-3 (8-7-1 Reg) San Diego - 1-3 (9-7 Reg) Kansas City - 2-2 (11-5 Reg) Denver - 2-2 (13-3 Reg) Philadelphia 2-2 (10-6 Reg)
  12. You've got to be kidding me. Blame the play calling. Blame the running game/penalties that came with it Blame the WR's who repeatedly fell running routes. Blame the poor O Line play. Blame the poor throws/decisions by the QB But are you really going to claim "they didn't try hard enough, because manuel got his job too easy?" Give me a break. The whole damn offense played poorly. Stop focusing on the QB. We have a young team, and young players are going to make stupid comments when we lose. Thats the gist of it. The problem seems to be the playcalling. Everyone and their mother could see we ran like 5 different plays the entire game. Either Hackett is saving the playbook for the games that matter, or he is an idiot. I'm leaning towards idiot.
  13. Tuel looked great last preseason too.
  14. So I guess Julio Jones(Edit: substitute Roddy White if you wish) is not a 1,000 yard receiver. Why haven't the Falcons released him yet!? Speaking of falcons, are you really railing on him because of his whopping 1 fumble total last year?
  15. This is what I figured. Season needs to start, people are getting antsy as usual.
  16. Can someone provide an exact quote of Jackson's "disrespect", and apparent mutiny on Marrone? I assume it was when he criticized practicing with Pittsburgh. I mean I keep seeing Jackson getting paired up with Hughes as if they are the leaders of some insurrection, so it would be nice to get the quote. Google revealed nothing. Regardless, these guys have practiced a lot, played 3 preseason games, and still have 2 more to go. I know they are paid for this, but give them a break if they want to vent a little. Geez.
  17. Fights at Bears, Packers, Broncos, Cowboys, Eagles, Seahawks. Follow OP logic and the seahawks are 2-14 Google "X Team training camp fight" and you will come up with some fight in that teams training camp. The only problem is hughes mouth, which hopefully will subside once camp is over.
  18. When did one person not having respect turn into the team not having respect? Stop overreacting, and damn if your post doesn't read as if you are giddy about all of this lol. It brings new light to putting the need to be right over rooting for your team.
  19. Can anyone here tell me the definition of the word bigotry? It seems to be being thrown around so much I figure someone should know it right?
  20. http://img.gawkerass...if/original.gif Mostly joking....
  21. Yep. http://www.seahawks.com/news/articles/article-1/Seahawks-trade-for-QB-Terrelle-Pryor/4f003675-4d48-4f25-acc7-fa571554dcc4 For a seventh round pick, but traded nonetheless.
  22. Yeah definitely! Oh geez. Just saw that 3rd down "drop" he had. If Manuel would've thrown that, it would've been all Manuels fault for not putting it on the numbers haha.
