  1. This is not an indictment of Edmunds. They probably just want depth or at least look into him.
  2. Dingus, I hope you’re right. Alex Smith is possible and Darnold’s sake I really hope so. He really needs to be a backup to an older QB who he can work his way back into a starting role. Winston took a basement $1 mil deal to get a chance after Brees retires to compete for the starting role. My guess is he’ll get that chance this year. Hill is a gadget guy who will never get the starting role. I know he received that extension, but that was just to get under the cap. If I’m Darnold’s agent, I’d lobby Pitt., Tampa, or Atlanta for a backup job and take the vet minimum. It’s telling no one has made a deal for him. Sarah’s going to want his own guy.
  3. IDK, once a QB is damaged, it’s hard to recover. I felt bad for him as he didn’t choose his landing spot, and the Jets ruined him. He might have made it on another team, but no one wants to try and rehab him.
  4. Bingo. This topic comes up every off season. Before 2020, the pundits said we had the 5th hardest schedule facing the AFCW, and NFCW, + Pitt, and TN. Now we have an easy schedule per whoever, and there is no way to project these points. How does anyone know if NO will be good with Winston most likely post eye surgery. He may have thrown 30 picks a couple of years ago, but also threw 30 TD’s. I have no idea nor does Mike Clay if he improved taking the back up spot to Brees under Payton. That’s just one example, the Pats, I don’t know. What about the draft. Miami could be vastly improved or not. I wouldn’t read much into SOS projections. They are wrong more than right. If you’re bored, ok, but we still face KC, Pitt., TN, Tampa, etc. I just don’t know. How many teams improve vastly in one year and comes out of nowhere, ie., Tampa was 7-9 and the next year wins the SB. Who knows if the losses to KC on their line pile up, or they replace and improve?
  5. It’s funny you post Transplant as Sal on the morning show has brought him up a bunch of times lately when they discuss the O Line, and said the Bills coaches are high on him. I’m not sure if he will be the swing tackle or backup center, but sounds like he’ll be around.
  6. Beasely hasn’t slowed down IMO, and Sanders was hired for his excellent route running at a discount, vs. Brown. He’ll find a way to get open. John, don’t bring up TE’s even though the pass catching ones are just big WR’s. The Lee Smith’s of the world are going like the dodo. Kelce is the model for what every team in the league is trying to achieve.
  7. OP, if you’re saying add to the DT group to be the other 50% for Star ok, but not a replacement. His contract makes that impossible and why? If you want this guy to eventually be a replacement as Star is getting older, ok.
  8. You know you can just personal message SDS. He could’ve told you. The mods are pretty good at responding. BTW, Howard and Jeremy have commented on TBD multiple times, so those guys do check out from time to time these threads. A few weeks ago, I noticed their morning poll questions, discussion topics were mirroring a day or two after threads came out. Good luck with you’re interview. I don’t know many people care as to their status. I enjoy the conversations for the most part, but don’t look to how many posts people are recorded. I do pay attention occasionally to the poster as I have a great deal of respect for some of the guys.
  9. Well, he has a job so good for him. I’m a little surprised on the financials, but I guess Harbaugh is having a hard time luring WR’s there.
  10. Augs, wasn’t towards you bud. C’mon, I can’t bust the augster. No worries my friend.
  11. The fear factor on this board is sometimes silly. We have an excellent team, good players coming back, Star coming back, and guys right now at least are healthy. Sometimes I feel like it’s my responsibility to share this... Until the other teams get a Josh Allen, we’re fine. We also are smart not giving away draft picks, tons of cap space to the future, and resigning the guys at excellent contracts, we’re going to own the AFCE. I never could think or say that when Brady was here. Tua, Jimmy G., a rookie at the Jests. Not even remotely worried. It’s nice to love a team like the Hawks where Wilson hides a ton of problems.
  12. Yep. Not worried. He’s serviceable with the talent they just bought, but he’s not Allen. Doesn’t it feel great to say something like that about Josh. I swear I never thought after two decades we’d get another MGK. The real one not little old me.
  13. Hap, ever try and catch a kitten? Just kidding. Thanks for the clarification. Otherwise I think he meant we picked up this guy.
  14. Trout, I’ve read the same the projection was going to be around $203, but the next year it will catch up like there was no pandemic to $225 mil. The OP is right, there will be upwards of 250 one year deals this year. A ton of people will be out there next year and we might have a little more to spend next year.
  15. H2O, I don’t know. Sometimes, OC’s construct offenses around their talent. Lamar doesn’t seem to be able to throw well outside the hash marks. I don’t know the details of why these guys declined the Ravens, but Lamar has limitations. That speed will run out someday. He needs to improve like Allen did the last three years. Maybe Roman is vanilla, maybe Jackson hit his ceiling, maybe it’s nothing. I don’t know. I just haven’t seen improvement out of the QB in three years. I’m happy for his success, and I don’t have an issue with the Ravens. I’ve always respected Harbaugh as a coach.
  16. He’s really only getting $8.5 mil. as they can get out of the deal next year. As far as a blunder, I don’t know. Half of me wanted Ngakoue, but I understand not doing it as they have Edmunds and Allen coming up. I can see Allen this summer and Edmunds getting the 5th year option as that will be cheaper. He’s making a smart decision not kicking the can. I understand the frustration. Heck I wanted Jonnu Smith, one of the Star DE’s, but then again I also hate using a credit card.
  17. I thought there had to be some spin on what he actually said. Thanks Thurm.
  18. AND GET OFF MY LAWN! I can see a world where we take Ettiene if he was there at 30. Then again, I can see us bundling picks to get an Edge Rusher a little higher if we had a trade partner. Should be fun.
  19. Pot, meet stir. Fergs, you love this don’t you, even more that some thought you were serious. I read you’re comment, and then looked up and saw it was you who wrote it. You had me for a quick second. Guys, he was kidding. I’ve been reading Ferg’s comments for years and this smells of wisears to get a rise out of us. It’s one of the things I like about him.
  20. The best team friendly deal he could take is what Mahomes did last year. The capologists who know contracts have said agents normally would never go with Mahomes for 10 years. Currently he makes less than Russel Wilson. People get starry eyed on $450 mil, but it was structured so he makes less for years and balloons later. He wins, and so does KC. He didn’t take a discount, just a discount now. It’s speculated in 5 years he’ll be the 14th avg. paid QB in the league given the increases in QB pay. That would be my hope that Allen would do the same. The reason Kelce received his new deal was Mahomes contract constructed in this manner. Most QB’s like Dak pushed for a four year deal, not five because he knows in four years he will make that much more. Allen taking a long term deal helps the whole team down the road. Allen taking a team discount is not going to happen in terms of less $. What someone else wrote about Brady is what I heard as well. I don’t know if it’s true, but wouldn’t surprise me if Kraft circumvented the cap.
  21. Josh, not sure on the reference for 3.8 speed. I’m assuming you mean another metric than the 40, but I’ll defer to you. You’re right he’s fast. I’m glad they are considering him, and Yeldon now is officially gone. I know he was UFA, and too bad as I thought he could’ve done more for us. Hopefully this is a nice cheap add.
  22. Mr. Azar was a nice guy. I met him twice as a college kid. My dad was friends with him as my father worked at the B. News for 44 years. I was delivering inter-office mail (yes pre-internet) and my father was with Larry Felser and Mr. Azar. They were just shooting the breeze, and he couldn’t have been nicer to a young dumb college kid. He’ll be missed.
  23. Brandt gets dismissed because of his age, and he also gets a ton of credit. He’s an analyst like others and has experience back to 1960. Sometimes he shows his age, but he also is pretty smart. I just take it as one guys opinion.
  24. Yep, the big jump will be in 2023 up to 225 mil. That is what would have been the case with no societal stuff. 2024 is when we’ll see a big jump. Considering the 2019 contracts were based on 210 in 2021 and 220 in 2022, we’ll see a nice bump the year after.
  25. I disagree on the woman thing. My wife has been hit on tons of times when I was young in front of me while I was bar tending in graduate school. She would get all nervous, and It told her to work it. Saves on my tab as I had to pay 50% for her drinks. The last thing I am is a jealous guy. She said you don’t mind. Nope, you’re coming home with me right. She loved that about me when we were dating. I just knew under no circumstances would she ever cheat on me, and I would never cheat on her.
