  1. Did anyone (other than George Edwards) complain about hiring the Stache as DC at the time? It seemed like a good get and still may be. As for a franchise QB, I am not sure who I would have picked at the time the Bills picked. Certainly, the "franchise" guys like Andrew Luck and RG III were long gone. I was and still am glad the Bills did not have the opportunity to pick Cam Newton. I also was very happy they did not pick Clausen (I recall people on this board going into convulsions when we did not pick him -- twice). I think that the Bills really liked Christian Ponder and were prepared to pick him in the second round (or trade up into the first round) and were as surpised as anyone else that he was picked so early by the Vikings. In the 2010 draft, the only QB chosen in the first round after our pick was Tim Tebow. I would rather have CJ. In the 2011 draft, the only QBs chosen in the first round after our pick were Locker (at 8), Gabbert 9 (at 10), and Ponder (at 12). I would rather have Dareus than Locker and Gabbert to this day and Ponder (certainly at the time and even today). As I mentioned above, I think that the Bills were hoping to get Ponder later. In the 2012 draft, the only QB chosen in the first round after our pick was Weeden at 22. Although I think he is decent, I hardly think he is a franchise QB or deserved to be taken where we picked Gilmore. I do not think that Fitz is a "franchise" QB. He certainly has his limitations. Nevertheless, given where we picked and the players we got in the first rounds these past three years, I would rather have the players we chose and Fitz rather than the question marks at QB that were taken after us in the first round. Just my two cents.
  2. We will find out just how serious the NFL is about hits like this. It certainly deserves a fine. This was so much worse than the Searcy hit.
  3. I agree with you. The coaches film should tell the tale. I presume that the Pats concentrated on SJ and, as you said, Fitz certainly did not deliver when he had the opportunity thos two times.
  4. The emotional swings on this board are too much. This really should not even be an issue until the end of the season. If I had to make a decision today, I would keep the same team in place. One of the reasons we have had a lost decade (and have not hired some of the "big name" coaches people mention) is lack of continuity -- we always seem to be starting over every few years. Buddy has added talent to the team and Chan has shown to be a capable coach. The Pats and the Jets kicked our asses. No question. The Pats have done that to a lot of teams. The Jets game got out of control. I fully expect us to play much better against the Jets next time. The Pats will continue to have our number until our defensive line plays better. Buddy and the Bills spent a truck load of money on M. Williams and Anderson. No one was complaining when we did that. It is now time for those players to play up to their $$$$. I am anxious to look at the coaches film to see just how much either was double teamed or chipped. It did seem as though most of the 200+ rushing was up the middle also. I want to look at that as well. I am not ready to "throw dirt" on Buddy or Chan yet. Just my two cents.
  5. I wish he would run toward the QB.
  6. Let's see if our D line can play up to their $$$$$$ now after getting abused most of the game.
  7. So nice to have the "regular" refs back?!?
  8. Good post. Roscoe is a good guy, gave it his all as a Buffalo Bill, and was very classy to the organization and the fans when he left. There is no reason to trash the guy the way some here did while he was with the team and now.
  9. http://www.patriots.com/news/article-1/Bill-Belichick-Conference-Call-Transcript/25357f4a-8eb5-4264-b3d0-3dee2fd06be6 A pretty good read as usual. I can only wonder which of the Buffalo media asked the question characterizing the Bills' thoughts about the Pats. Funny comment about Flutie Flakes.
  10. I totally agree.
  11. I hope ESPN and others hold the real refs to the standard of perfection that they have with the "replacement" refs. I am not saying that the replacement refs have not made mistakes, but some of the criticism has been over the top and made with the supposition that the real refs never make mistakes. As a fan of Buffalo teams, I am all too familiar with really bad calls by refs.
  12. The timing might be odd, but the Bills did him a solid by cutting him now rather than prior to the season. He gets $1.425 million plus whatever he signs for elsewhere.
  13. The Bills plan on scoring on every possesssion.
  14. Getting in a fight because someone has a different color shirt on . . . .
  15. I love these refs.
  16. You are correct. That Superman celebration also reminded me why I hoped the Bills would not have the opportunity/draft him. It was ridiculous doing that in a blowout loss especially.
  17. RIP. He was a great guy and will be missed a lot.
  18. I have watched CG for most of the past two games (including the all 22). There is no doubt that he was a steal in the second round. I could not be happier with him so far.
  19. What was crowd's reaction to Marcell?
  20. I am sure they were yelling Bruuuuuuuce.
  21. That is a sobering thought. With our luck . . . .
  22. I agree. I presume the reason Mario brought it up was to call attention to it for future games if it continues to happen. This is something else I want to check out on NFL Game Rewind to see how much it happened.
  23. Just my two cents, but I thought that the hit was designed to injure Fred. When NFL Game Rewind is active again after the Monday Night games, I probably will take another look.
  24. Same with me. I wonder if my kids will ever have the opportunity to see the kind of Buffalo Bills teams that we had in the early 90's.
