For the few who still think Fox is . . .
blzrul replied to slothrop's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Pretty smart on their part. The knuckle-draggers here are a good indicator of how stupid and gullible the rest of the country is, so I am sure it works. Foley is an Irish name...Irish live in MA and NY...MA and NY are long-time Democratic states...erego he is a Dem because as we all know Dems like sex (Repigs don't, because they are no good at it I guess. -
Seems to me last time a filibuster was threatened the Repig-controlled Congress took steps to throw out the filibuster and remove that avenue. I'll be the first to admit the Dems have been wimps. That doesn't make the Rethuglican STINK any less. So why bother. Let's just all agree with the morons who can't seem to see a difference between consensual activity between two adults and a cheesy old PEDOPHILE propositioning under-age boys. Republican Family Values. Hypocrites.

Eight soldiers died today. Let's celebrate. Total in the past few days? 18. Party on.
-
Just when it seems like the arrogant, igorant idiots in the GOP-controlled (nay, dominated) Congress have done it all, they top it. The latest is, of course, not Foley and His Family Values, but the $20m they've set aside for the Iraq Victory Party. On the other hand, if they bank it until the war is actually over, and if we actually win, the interest it will amass could be almost as astronimical as the cost of the war itself. Just in case the insurgency needed any more incentive....morons.

Don't be so sure that you wouldn't be arrested!

So if WNY is in such bad shape isn't the governor of NY more to blame? The REPUBLICAN governor? I thought not. There's plenty of blame to go around, including right down to the narrow-minded, short-sighted voters who are so easily manipulated and fooled. Plenty of other cities and areas have returned from the brink - Pittsburgh, Cleveland, etc. What have they had that WNY does not? It's something to think about. If you love Buffalo so much then go home and work on the problem. People who bail out because it's untenable and then whine about it have no cause to do so. Maybe have the problem is the people who desert the sinking ship.

Love those Republican family values!!!!

linky Oh God - I can have so much fun with this! It could explain why all the chest-thumping neocon Neanderthals are so stupid.... Then again, most of them turn out to be chickenshits who hide behind plastic and duct tape when the chips are down so maybe they don't have much testosterone ... Or perhaps it's all artificial which might explain things. But it sure explains a lot of stupidity in the world today. It surely does.

"Scientists say they have created a stem cell line from a human embryo that had stopped developing naturally, and so was considered dead." Well you could have said the same thing about poor Terri Schaivo and fat lot of good that did when it came to the wingnuts.

Water softeners are a pain in the ass. I had one when I lived in Webster and the damn thing ran over night, would wake me up. Course it was worse when the stupid well had an issue and no-one knew where all the pipes were. So what the heck, connecting to city water wasn't more than 8k and the water was ... well, probably full of toner from the Xerox plant but what the heck, the class action suit will take care of me in my old age.

It would be a good thing for gas to hit $10 a gallon. Poor people take the bus anyway so they won't care. Rich people don't give a shirt. So it's the folks in the middle who will get squeezed, as usual, and maybe becuase there are so many of them their screaming will be heard. Or not...I think eventually they'll catch on.

And that's not so much different than the ultra-conservative, right-wing Christian nutjobs here at home. They are a very small but extremely vocal minority. True, they don't fly planes into buildings, but that's because they're American and basically too lazy. They hide behind plastic and duct tape instead. Reactionary extremists of any persuasion are dangerous. What's more dangerous is making the assuming that the entire group subscribes to the extremist position. When that happens, the group becomes isolated and could end up joining the extremists. Almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy...back anyone into a corner and see what happens. We are creating enemies faster than we can kill them.

Not me - I rarely drive. They have these things call feet and buses and car pools and I use those.

Buy all you can now and stockpile it because after the election's over it'll skyrocket.

I read on CNN Money yesterday that of the top 10 places to retire, three were in WNY - Buffalo, Rochester and Niagara Falls. Oh boy. Like there aren't already enough old fogies cruising around in Crown Vics and Tauruses. Now you're going to have to deal with overcrowded Bingo halls, doctors' offices, hospitals and the like. And it'll get worse for the fashion-conscious since you already have to go to Toronto to buy clothing when the style is in it's first season. If there are any department stores left, they'll be full of "housecoats" and slippers, support hose, trusses and the like. Ugh. Just kidding. WNY has always been a great place for kids and old folks. For everyong else in between it ain't much unless you like shoveling snow and paying horrendous taxes. That said since I can buy a house in Buffalo for a median price of about what I'd pay for a toolshed here, I am gonna pick one up and stock it with Geritol against the day when I come back to wait out my last years on this sodding planet.

As we if needed any more proof that religion (not God, not humanitarian values, but organizated religions orchestrated and run by men) is stupid.

There is actually a wireless voting system - not made by Diebold - getting ready to put into place. We now do all paper/absentee balloting and sure 'nuff, I get a little numbered stub to tear off before I mail. How about that. -
It was funny to see Cantwell "strong". If you went by what you read in the paper and hear, you'd think she was all but out. McGavick is a weenie though - I think with a better candidate the Repubs had a chance. What will be interesting is the house race in Reichert's district. His claim to fame is being the extremely photogenic guy who happened to be sherrif when they finally caught the Green River Killer. However he's in doodoo so badly that Karl Rove his bad self is campaigning for re-election. Look for lots of slime - which doesn't play real well here. I don't know who the Dems are running but Rove wouldn't be involved if they didn't think Dave was vulnerable.
-
Does "The Reagans" ring a bell? The Repigs set the precedent.

I would have gone for it too. You never take points off the board, but there were no points on the board to take off. They may not have scored anyway. There WERE a number of hometown calls that went against the Bills but they played well beyond my expectations. I would have liked a win but...it's only one loss. The REAL penalties were very few and there are many bright spots, including JP who has proven that he can handle the pressure.

So what? I got a shitload of stock in plastic and duct tape so I'm sitting pretty. -
How can you be so callous? Don't you know The Crocodile Hunter has been killed? and we still don't know who killed JonBenet? And has anyone SEEN Suri Cruise, for real? Get with the program people. Let's talk about what really matters here.

Hillary thinking about dropping out of 2008?
blzrul replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The Republicans have had almost 8 years of unbridled power in the White House and legislative branches. We went from peace, prosperity and a respected place in the world to being pretty much a pariah, war, and at atmosphere where people hate and fear those, in our own country, who differ from us. So much for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I'd vote for Mr. Ed if he could turn it around. He'd dead, but would be an improvement against most politicians today. I used to like McCain but in selling out to his party he's become more despicable than most. Yuck. Just thinking about it makes me feel unclean. -
How about the dumbass out here who stands a good chance of unseating an incumbent senator (except his voice sounds like Mickey Mouse, all squeaky)...he proactively "comes clean" about a DUI except lies about the whole thing. So while the original confession was of little interest and got him some kudos, the lie is now on the front page. What a dope. If you're going to bring it up, then tell the truth. Of course, he knows how stupid Americans are. Let's see if he knocks on my door during a Seahawks game...
