McCain's passport also breached
blzrul replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You can watch and let us know. I don't even know who Olbermann is. I sort of read things and watch the news on my own (not political pundits) and make up my own mind. -
Reverend Wrights post 9/11 sermon
blzrul replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
When I lived in TX I admit to church-shopping. And it was AMAZING the @#$@#$ that those people said from their bully pulpit. I would flinch. I suppose if someone saw me there they might think I was a wingnut or something for tolerating it. I just never went back, but I didn't know these folks or have any stake in them. Regarding Wright and Obama: the speech in question has some questionable statements, no doubt. As stated herein, most of them were QUOTED by Wright. Also there's no suggestion that there was a long history of hate-mongering on his part. So, say that Obama did have a 20-year relationship with him. If he preached hatred and disunity for those 20 years, I'd wonder how Obama could tolerate it. But there's no evidence he did. So Obama has a long-term relationship with a guy who in his old age is just sick and tired of bad things happening to good people, and he spouts off about it. He doesn't tell people to go out and shoot white folks, riot in the streets or assassinate public officials. He just bitches long and loud. Why should Obama turn his back on him? John McCain has already fired the staffer who found and posted this on YouTube, intentionally stirring up this non-issue. I am not nuts over McCain, but he DOES know what it feels like to be the victim of this kind of crap and I applaud him for his efforts to try to keep this election out of the gutter. -
Gov. Richardson endorses Obama

I agree Richardson was an excellent candidate and would be a great choice for VP. -
Well - I have to ask the initiator of this thread WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE as McCain's passport has ALSO been breached, yet the only mention is of Hillary Clinton? This might lead someone to say VAB and Hillary Sitting in a tree You know the rest. Actually this is just your forked-up government forking up again. It's nice to know they are Equal Opportunity when it comes to screwing up. Unless since they breached the Dems and figured they'd better go breach McCain's last night in order not to look bad. duh.

What a dumbass. If you think this is an issue, you need to find a hobby. I am sure Hillary will thank you for your concern on her behalf, but I see it's headlines regarding BOTH breaches and Condi Rice is apologizing to them both as well.

What kind of dog do you have?
blzrul replied to In space no one can hear's topic in Off the Wall Archives
So sorry - but I give you all the credit in the world for not being selfish and letting your loved one go. It's so hard. My mother-in-law had a doxie she kept alive long past his time, wheeled him around in a carriage, etc etc and he was in pain. I was furious with her and still am. You are to be commended for putting your poochie first in spite of how hard it is for you. -

New York Gov #2 enjoys the stray 'tang
blzrul replied to Dwight Drane's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No, you TOOK it that way. He didn't ask to be governor and now people are giving him sh-- because, well hey he's governor. He was in the assembly for some 20 years I think. Didn't aspire to much more apparently. Power hungry being a relavant term, I get the feeling he didn't in his wildest dreams think he's really ever be Gov of NY. Particularly, if you look at his beliefs - he's pretty far left. So that's why it's doubly funny that all the Repubs who called for Spitzer's removal are now aghast that they're stuck with someone who makes Spitzer look conservative. The fact that this guy was so openly left tells you he probably wasn't looking to go much higher, because his appeal is to a very small, very liberal population and he would have torpedoed himself immediately with those beliefs. And I am pretty sure that a savvy politician with loftier goals in mind would have tempered his positions in an attempt to appear more electable. -
So, GWB had Falwell and Bob Jones University and who knows what-all in his court. I'm looking for that topic on the board, so I can compare outrage, but can't find it. Must be due to the crash. Uh-huh. Why is it people who claim to be so intelligent and "above the fray" get sucked into this stuff by the media? This kinda sensationalized craps is about as intensely interesting and relevant as whatever Brittney is up to these days. In fact if Brittney was up to MORE, this probably wouldn't have been reported.

Who will be McCain's running mate
blzrul replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Lieberman is angling for the job. He's got his nose so far up McCain's butt that he's almost as brown as Obama. -

Not any more than I hold movie stars, athletes, and others in the public eye who purport to be role models. I'm frankly tired of all the play in the media given to so-and-so and their latest faux pas...who cares. This guy didn't ask to be governor of NY. In fact from what I've read he wasn't too keen on being Lt. Gov either, although in the end he obviously agreed to run. Maybe part of his reasoning was that he'd be subject to just this kind of scrutiny over his past. I wonder if he had said last week "I am not worthy to serve because I cheated on my wife from 1999-2001" what the reaction would have been? While it's always disappointing to learn these things about people, there have been some very great leaders throughout history, around the world, who had some pretty bad failings. Some of them are easy to ignore, others not. In the grand scheme of things it's a blip, as are we all. -

You know if it's not with a child or in a disgusting PUBLIC place like a bathroom, I will probably give them a pass. Have you ever heard me make a stink about GHWB and his affair with his aide-de-camp? Or Eisenhower? Naw. I deplore perverts of all kinds and hypocrites. I think Spitzer is an idiot - and an idiot who broke the law. You haven't seen me defend him. If they scream about morals in public and condemn others, then are caught with their own pants down - no mercy. It just so happens that most of those folks seem to have -R's. What can I say? Either the GOP attracts people of weak morals, or they get that way after they're in? Dunno. You tell me. -

I am humbled to be in the presence of so many of you who have never committed a sin. Really and truly. What's it like to be perfect, so that you can stand in judgement of everyone else? Puke. Give it a rest - he admitted to an affair (not a crime) that ended 6-7 years ago, up front in order to get it out in the open and make it a non-issue. Which it is. Look around you - you have no idea what kind of secrets your friends and family carry. And if you have the kind of time on your hands to sit around and fuss over it then perhaps you ought to put it to more productive use in some kind of volunteer capacity. -
Well, tomorrow Obama is going to give a speech discussing race and this religious thingy. So let's see what he has to say.

The pastor of my church of 20 was a nutjob too. His views did not reflect mine. The rest of his staff was much cooler (hence constantly challenged to keep him in check). I stayed with this church because of the cool people (I'd go to their services), I'd been there so long, it was part of my community and my friends, relatives and neighbors went. I just tuned him out when I had to encounter him. He was a very senior and we listened when we had to just out of respect for his position. Although really I respected him very little. People who think Geraldine Ferraro was within her rights to speak her mind, and should not have resigned, should not have an issue with this guy. What kills me is all these staffers who are so freaking stupid with their big mouths. You'd think they'd know by now the vultures are waiting to pounce. I took a three-day political grassroots staffer training session once and it was a pretty elementary part of the training - if you learned nothing else they wanted us to learn that you keep your opinions to yourself and no matter what, stay on message.

Lawn service. In TX it was Mexicans and in WA it's Vietnamese. They do a much better job than my husband.

What happens if war with Iran breaks out?
blzrul replied to Adam's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The question you have to ask is why are oil prices through the roof? Since a good deal of the problem here in the US is our aging and insufficient refinery system, the price of oil is only partly to blame for gas prices. A big part, sure, but not all. What happened to all that Iraqi oil? If we're not getting it, where is it going and more importantly where is the revenue going? I think the current mortgage "meltdown" as it's called is having a domino effect as oil future get bid up, it's an election year with all the uncertainty that entails, there's one war not going anywhere and a bunch of morons calling for another one, and of course it's the last year the Bushista buddies get to rape in, er I mean RAKE in, the obscene profits that they've enjoyed since he took office. I'm not sure how you can separate it all out... But in the end, I paid $3.57 a gallon today. Good think I only need to fill up every 4-6 weeks. -
Good one. And I like your new avatar a lot better - it suits you.

So can someone please please explain how it happens that a man who has a black father, and a white mother, is "BLACK"? One drop of black blood makes you black? Why doesn't one drop of white blood make you white? And who gets to pick which is which? Anyone ever read Kingsblood Royal by Sinclair Lewis? It's sort of pathetic that after all these years as America gets more "brown" we still have to label races. I don't care what color he is, he's amazingly charismatic, a powerful speaker, a very bright man, and so far as we know there's no real dirt on him except an unfortunate middle name. The fact that he hasn't spent his life wheeling and dealing with political fat cats and corporate interests (which is the sum total of Hillary Clinton's vast "experience") is part of his attractiveness. He has enough political experience and a genuine caring for our country and all its people, not just the rich, pretty ones. He has at least as much experience as George W. Bush, and he's a hell of a lot smarter.

Have you noticed anything since election day?
blzrul replied to blzrul's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You live in Florida though right? Let's compare August statements! -
Gas prices have crept up $.17 since election day. Is this a seasonal trend? Usually home heating costs go up obviously but summer is usually the big increase. What is everyone else seeing in your part of the country? PS: While I'm at it, I jsut got my gas and electric bill. Despite using less than a year ago, my bill is double what it was. OUCH! And my heat is set at 60-65 degrees. Criminy.
