I'm glad to see others saw what I did. I am a Hawks fan (second team, Bills #1 always) and I was totally disgusted. It was just like watching any Bills game - just no respect and all the breaks given to the favorites who had "90% of the fans in the stands" according to the talking heads. And the Stones sucked too. Yuck.

Worst call "offensive interference" negating Seahawk TD. Next worst call giving Big Ben a TD when he knee was down and ball did not break the plane - you could see green grass between the nose of the ball and the goal line. Third worst call the "block" against Hasselback on the INT giving Pitt 15 more yards on the INT Worst non-call the horse collar of Shaun Alexander. And various and sundry pissant calls or non-calls. I wonder if Holmgren ever heard of the "hurry up" offense? One wouldn't think so. But remember the AFC is much better than the NFC so this isn't that surprising.

Good points. It's easy to forget about fiscal responsibility when times are good. A wise person hedges against the next down cycle. It seems to me there are all sorts of stories about that whether it's the ant and the grasshopper or the parable of the 7 lean / 7 fat years. This president is pissing away what we don't have. If an individual were so irresponsible there would be scant sympathy on this board for someone so stupid as to keep spending money while voluntarily cutting back work hours. It's just pure hypocrisy that they give the current cast of clowns a pass.

That may very well be true but what I'm saying is what WE consider conservative here is not the same. The conservatives in Canada, for example, favor gun control. Not so here. That was my point.

By the way, the "Conservatives" in Canada are far more liberal than many liberals here. Also take note that the liberal Democratic party in Canada picked up a bunch of seats. Like so many things one must look beyond the label...

Actually when you read what she said, it's not remarkable. She said Congress was run in such a way that there was retribution toward anyone who spoke up in disagreement with the ruling party. Anyone here want to argue that? The pervasive attitude there, like here, is that "if you're not with us you're against us". There's very little democracy left in the way they're running the show in DC. Any fool who even thinks about taking the high road (either party) gets run over into the mud....so they either fall into line or wait until the ruling party begins to implode when they can sidestep away quietly.... The Repigs are just mad they didn't think of it themselves. They are the original highjackers of language.

I still can't believe that the City bought that stupid ferry. Did they really think anyone in Toronto would come to ROCHESTER of all places to visit and spend money? Rochester used to be a nice place but now...the last person out better remember to turn out the lights.

I would say that a valid answer would have to come from our black members. White people are probably not the best, most objective judges of whether racial prejudice and discrimination are practiced, nor how extensively.

Well now you ruint it - the last thing I would ever do is parrot my husband, on ANYTHING. I've always thought the government was full of nincompoops and have never relied on them to be anything but wasteful, frivolous pompous asses. That's why, when I was asked to consider a run for Congress, I said no. I knew I'd have NO patience for that bull sh--. I once belonged to an organization comprised 99% of white guys so I understand why it is that nothing gets done but pontification, self-aggrandizement and enrichment, along with a whole lot of empty promises.

I am cracking up - this is just what the nuns told us all about the Commies in the 1960s when we were little kids. Yup, the Russians were going to push nails in our eyeballs and Chinese would either use water torture or bamboo slivers under our fingernails. I recall my mom stockpiling non-perishable food in the basement as a hedge against The Bomb but never any hint at giving up on doing exactly as we pleased or going where we wanted to go. But hey, those who want to let the government take care of all this since they know so much better, give up your freedoms. If that is what makes you safe, then perhaps you should go to a country where there is no freedom, because those people must be really safe, eh?

As a parent who has lived through the sudden death of a young son (age 14) I know exactly what Dungy must be going through. I am going to the Indianapolis/Seattle game on Saturday, now very reluctantly. I can't imagine that he'd be there...and I can't imagine that the Colts' minds will be there. As a parent I wish the Colts would forfeit the game (they don't need it) so the team could support Tony at this time....as a pragmatist and football fan of course I understand it'll go on. So we'll just bring a sign to let the Dungys know they're in our thoughts and prayers. It'll be hard for them to care much about a stupid Superbowl after this. Looks like we could be stuck with the damned Patsies again.

You shouldn't confuse defense with agreement with his position. He may be so full of crap he has extra to throw around , but I mislike incivility of such an extreme nature as you well know. And to think I selected this coming weekend to go to Buffalo to freeze my butt off on a Saturday night watching the Bills get killed by Denver. ah well.
