  1. Oh yes it is. I broke my treadmill Tuesday - burned that sucker's motor right out. I guess I need to find some other channel for my energy. Like shopping for a new treadmill! Oops that's another board. I wonder if the fleet's back....
  2. Hee hee has it been THAT long? Sorry. Time flies. Turkey is meat? And out here "colors" is spelled "wwaaooowww, DUDE!". I said y'all before I moved to TX...and I have yet to meet one person up here who is impressed with ANYTHING do to with Texas. In fact, the exact opposite. For that you have to go to the other side of the mountains where all the rednecks live. On our side, the green side with all the $$$$$, we are an enlightened lot. But we are happy to pay our high taxes so the other side can have roads and indoor plumbing.
  3. I think unions can be valuable and serve a useful purpose in protecting workers from being exploited by greedy corporations. The problem is when greedy men (and it seems to be men, doesn't it) take over the unions and assume the same attributes as the corporations (greed mostly) that they become bad things. Bad things, man. You're probably familiar with the recent Boeing labor goings-on in Seattle. My brother works there and belongs to a union. Another union, I think it was machinists, was in a labor dispute and eventually struck. I was talking to my brother and we agreed that the deal Boeing had offered was really good - I'd have been happy to have it and he expressed the same sentiment. Yet they struck anyway. The funniest thing is my doofy brother then drove around sporting a "I stand with ...." poster in his F250. Huh? What's with that? I guess he doesn't realize that eventually all unionized workers will pay, somehow, someday. I hope he remembers that the next time Boeing lays him off.
  4. No that would make me conservative. Which as we all know is far from the case.
  5. Nope not working too hard. Actually I might have the scanner working. Mayhap there will be time over the holiday to try. Hey they may televise the Giant / Seahawks game on national TV Sunday, I will wave. I get on TV here because I stick out like a sore thumb in my Bills bomber jacket... everyone else is dressed up in vegetable colors.
  6. Bush pardoning a turkey is yet more proof of the blatant nepotism and cronyism rampant in his administration... hee hee
  7. I was at school and the announcement came over the loudspeaker. We were all scared little kids. The teacher started to cry. They sent us home and I was afraid the world was ending.
  8. Since 1985 I have purchased two American cars, and two Japanese cars. The American-made vehicles were more expensive for the features I got, and far less reliable. I am meticulous about maintenance, yet things continue to go wrong. The laundry list of repairs and expenditures for those FAR exceeds the foreign cars. And the foreign cars last longer overall. I have kept looking for reasons to buy American, and after I do, I feel betrayed. This is confusing to me, because the Japanese cars I buy are manufactured here in the USA. So - are their engineers better? Or are their managerial processes better? Why is it they get better products out of American workers than the big, fat bloated, top-heavy dinosauers in Detroit? I'm sorry people are losing their jobs but it's certainly not my fault. My business has to be earned. I try to avoid foreign-made if possible (I haven't set foot in a Wal-Mart in years) but not to the extent that I'm going to end up throwing my money into a black hole...because when I'm bankrupted by automotive maintenance costs, the compassionate conservative response would be to eat cake...no matter that I lost my shirt trying to be patriotic and "buy American".
  9. Agreed. We have to remember that the invasion was purportedly part of the "war on terror". Given that the number of global terror attacks has increased, not decreased, he's not winning. The miliary people on the ground are doing the best they can in an untenable situation. The deserve better leadership. BiB-leather. Lots.
  10. It doesn't matter. There's always someone else to take his place.
  11. Well so far he's not winning it.
  12. Perhaps you slept through what they did to Max Cleland? No, I know you didn't. It's hard to believe but there is NOTHING those slimeballs won't stoop to.
  13. Ever consider Arkansas? It's pretty there, if you must stay in the South. Plus it has seasons besides hot and hot-as-hell. Of course there are the tornadoes.....
  14. Last year I was at a conference and one of my colleagues was going to join us. He was flying into Houston and checking in very late. The next day I tried to reach him in his room and was told he'd checked out! Very strange. But then I received a call from him that he had had to move to another hotel - however he'd never checked into the hotel we were at because there were no rooms. It tooks us awhile, working with the front desk, to detemrine that a guy with the same name (supposedly) had checked in using Rob's reservation AND the room had been charged to the card on file, which was Rob's! There were NOT two reservations under the same name, only one. It left us all stumped. It would in this case have been nice to have had the photo ID on this guy's license to know who he really was.
  15. Based on Robertson's logic then all those Red States that have been smitten by hurricanes and what not...what does that say about them? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Naw, he's just a nut job.
  16. You forgot WINGNUT
  17. My sentiments exactly.
  18. Reminds me of those people in South Africa who used to put tires around the necks of others and set them on fire.
  19. Because it's needed in Alaska so 55 people can get around to check their traps and such...or cash their oil subsidy checks.
  20. Read this What has me leery is that DeLay backs it and he never does anything for the good of the little guy. But perhaps he's just pandering, figuring this won't ever come to pass.
  21. This is more about economic disadvantage than religion.
  22. That WAS nauseating wasn't it? We ended up watching the game mostly on mute. The good news was that we didn't have to hear about Brett Favre for a couple of hours.
  23. Plus he's got his own band (Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys).
  24. Of course. Secret agents don't drive, they either have limos driven by masked chaffeurs or they use fancy cloaking devices that just whisk them away, invisible to the world. The offices are in caves and undisclosed locations like Batman and Cheney. Likewise they don't grocery shop, get sick, or go to the bathroom like the rest of humanity. And some people really believe that sh--. They HAVE to because it's the only way they can continue to pretend to believe they can defend the idiots who don't give a rat's ass for them or theirs.
  25. Speaking of which did you see Sen. Kay Bailey Witch's comments about perjury? She expressed hope that any indictments that may be issued (over the Pflame incident) I believe were over "real" crimes as opposed to just perjury...apparently perjury is only perjury when it relates to blow jobs, not treason. Or perhaps when your side lies it's not lying. It is to laugh.
