  1. Which would be cool if we had the bandwidth to do it. What with Iraqistan and all, we can't even manage a couple crummy hurricanes let alone another pre-emptive strike. What a sad, sad state we're in.
  2. Speaking of which, I got a call a couple of weeks ago from a guy in the federal government (as he took pains to inform me) who'd received a fax sent erroneously to his office from our HQ. My name was listed as "client" and he took the trouble to track me down and call me. He joked about "this is your government at work" and all I could do was to express my thanks and the hope that seeking me out to let me know that my marketing collateral was safe in his hands didn't distract him from monitoring evildoers or whatever he did. He assured me that he was "only" a contractor and that he would shred my collateral (which is intended to be distributed publicly) immediately. But, his heart was in the right place....
  3. I thought it was pretty funny. Just what I would have expected. I can't stand to look at the man no matter what his facial expression - he looks like he's made out of wax or plastic.
  4. Yeah they could dust off that interview Newt's mom did with Connie Chung where she confided that Newtie called Hillary a B word. That was priceless. Even thought it was just on TV all that cigarette smoke was gagging me....
  5. Two horrific accidents, both regrettable and preventable. One brought up every chance, one never discussed. "It's different". To the dead person or their family it ain't. Both are bad. So are double standards.
  6. I often wonder if Teddy and Laura Bush have ever shared their thoughts on what it's like to be responsible for the death of another human being? That's something I'm sure none of us would want to carry around either. We all have our burdens to bear.
  7. I beg to differ. Their marketing is brilliant. It's their execution that sucks
  8. I was thinking it would be Kenny Boy, he's been looking for work for a few years and it doesn't look like he'll go to trial any time soon.
  9. By the way rumor has it that our new grand exalted supreme court chief justice is gay. How interesting will that be if true.
  10. I know that. Cost me a job at the Treasury out of college. Probably a good thing.
  11. So there you go - we agree. My outrage is not with God or Jesus or religion but with people who use religion and the fear of God to manipulate for their own ends. I'm not talking about honestly misguided people but those who do it deliberately. And those people who support them because "it's my side" are just as bad. Do you really think Jesus would tolerate this if He came back today? Do you think THEY would tolerate HIM? He'd be crucified all over again, one way or another. Boring is in the eye of the beholder, but you are welcome to keep your secrets and I'll keep mine.
  12. And while we're at it, what's so unusual about having president who says stupid things?! Bring it on....
  13. I think it was the F--- word they objected to. I don't even like the "Buck Fush" shirts I've seen. The issue is, though, that they let her board the plane. It wasn't like she could exit in mid-flight. I've worn my share of anti-Bush shirts and have received compliments on it from a wide range of individuals including TSA inspectors, pilots and flight attendants, not to mention my fellow passengers. And there ain't a swear word on 'em.
  14. Why should it be "interesting". Look at the crap people post here just to bump a thread.
  15. I see the spy was a US Marine. And formerly of the FBI too. Those would seem to be decent recommendations for any hiring manager given the supposed screening that takes place by these two organizations. Of course their are plenty of criminals in both the armed services and law enforcement. This one just got caught doing his crime of choice.
  16. The idea of a "blind trust" means he doesn't know what's in it. The administrator makes those decisions. That's the gist of the investigation.
  17. No problem with someone who has convictions and is willing to fight for them. Just think it's going to be a silly 3-ring circus as, instead of seeing who can kiss the most babies, the candidates instead vie to prove that they are indeed true lovers of Jesus....
  18. If you want to learn about her, learn about the Dallas City Council. It doesn't matter which one...or when....you really want to sit down some day and watch some tape. It's better than a three-ring circus. My husband lived in Dallas all his life, leans to the right, and is still laughing about this one. He's always said that the Dallas City Council is one of the biggest embarrassments to the city (and there are plenty), right up there with Jerry Jones and Rev. Raley... But I never heard of her. Seeing her described as a "Bush insider" doesn't give warm fuzzies...but that's all anyone seems to know about her besides a history rather devoid of detail.
  19. Yes on days that end in "y" only though, right.
  20. We were talking about Rudy though, that would be another thread. By the way I see no-one has started a thread on Frist and his troubles. He's got hair, and lots of it, but he might get Martha'd. The next best hair is Allen, GOP hair that is.
  21. I think it's called "family values"? I would think you wingnuts would be happy about that...personally I don't care. Unlike the right which seems to be fascinated with fornication, I have other fish to fry. Besides if they do pass the ban it pretty much insures that the wingnuts will stay on their side of the mountains. So it's win-win for everyone, including the girls who may lose a little income but won't have to get so close to disgusting beer-bellied rednecks, perverts and such.
  22. I am sure the right wingnuts would be very concerned about having a man in the White House who had the poor taste to try to move his mistress into the mayor's mansion whilst his divorce was still pending. They worry about those things you know. Along with those poor, defenseless stem cells. Did he remarry yet? He'll probably want to take care of that to eliminate one possible character assassination item from the wingnut list. I have no issues with Rudy. Given that the GOP seems to promote empty suits - with hair - these days I'm sure he's in for a lot of grief but at least he's proven he has some modicum of leadership skill and can get things done.
  23. oooo I bet it made you bleed to admit that.
  24. In case you missed it, DeLay was just indicted for money laundering too. The story is on the Dallas Morning News and you need a login, but here's a start: >>DeLay indicted on money laundering charge 05:46 PM CDT on Monday, October 3, 2005 Associated Press AUSTIN – A Texas grand jury on Monday indicted U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay on a charge of money laundering, less than a week after another grand jury leveled a conspiracy charge that forced DeLay to temporarily step down as House majority leader. << etc. So TWO grand juries are either idiots or corrupt according to much of the blather I see here. Or maybe, just maybe, the guy did something wrong.
  25. Now if he had recommended that all male babies be aborted, THAT I could see reason behind. Except of course that was tried, sort of, a couple of thousand years ago, and those who survived still managed to find ways to exercise their human failings. So in all fairness maybe it's just times for humans to admit that we're just human, we had a good run, and it's time to evolve into something else.
