  1. storyWe all remember this guy and his big stone monument. This should be great fun to watch. They'll all be scrambling to truly prove each is "holier-than-thou".
  2. The headline from the Dallas Morning News' web site ought to be reason enough to think twice: "Legal Community Overjoyed" Excluding Mickey and my sister from the mix, when that pack of...well, you know...is overjoyed it doesn't bode well for the rest of us.
  3. Isn't this the same guy who wrote "The Book of Virtues"? hmmmm
  4. Which the White House did. So either Pelosi was right, or the White House is a bunch of candy-ass, pandering wimps. Choose your poison.
  5. Linky Well if outrage is bad and political, then try this shoe off for size.
  6. I don't disagree with anything you've said. But I hate the thought of government administering it. I don't see much choice though.
  7. You are fortunate - I know a woman who died of cancer because her husband was laid off and couldn't keep up with COBRA payments, she couldn't work but tried to care for their little kids while he worked 2-3 crappy jobs to come up with the $100k+ for her treatment ... that this happens in America is unconscionable given our resources. I don't like entitlement programs but in a rich country like America people should have some options to access reasonable healthcare - whether it's a sliding fee scale, whatever. At least when it's provided by the private sector there is SOME incentive to keep the costs under control. Give free reign to the government to administer a national healthcare program for all ... hoo boy. One shudders to think! In CA you can get reasonable healthcare insurance at Costco - they have negotiated that with their carrier for their members. It will be interesting to see how that works and if it catches on.
  8. Winner of best post, by a mile! (only good for one thread, one time).
  9. The District Attorney, by the way, has indicated more Democrats over the years than Republicans. So cries of politics don't ring true. This guy just hates corruption and DeLay is probably one of the slimiest characters to come along in a long time. I can't imagine why anyone would support the guy, he makes the entire Republican party look bad. He serves a very small, elite group of radical right wingnuts with a very narrow-minded agenda. As his own constituents will tell you "he may be a sumbitch but he's our sumbitch". I am sure that Sugarland can do better, because I know people there (doesn't TT still live there?) and they are definitely not all sumbitches. So they shouldn't have one stand for them in Congess. He inhaled too many fumes during his exterminatin days.
  10. Excellent point. I'm shocked that a Texas jury indicted him. I did hear an analysis which mentioned that one of the others who was previously indicted is facing 20+ years and there's speculation he'll roll. What fun to see them turn into a ravening pack of dogs, each blaming someone else.
  11. As we used to say in Texas - yee-HAW! Even among extremists, he's extreme.
  12. Go to any web site and read the headlines wherein he's blaming the locals, Bush, everyone, but himself.
  13. Ah yes, the modern American mantra: blame someone else. Personal responsibility is only for the little people.
  14. It's wonderful news on the job for you and your family. I hope your wingnut friends here at PPP will forgive any perceived compromise of principles that may - or may not - have taken place in order for your to avail yourself of the excellent opportunity offered by the [sneer] French. But seriously it's good to see your hard work pay off. It usually does!
  15. Very funny but does seem to bear out the right's assertion that the French hate freedom.
  16. Your rush to defensiveness is soooo very telling. As usual. Who said anything about GOVERNMENT? Eh? Is it the government stuck in the traffic jam? Nope. It's the folks who waited a bit too long and then didn't think out where to go. It's the people who forgot that the reason they had all those Katrina victims in the first place was because those people had no-where to go, and no money to go there, in August. Dealing with you simpletons is often like shooting fish in a barrel. You rise to the bait even when there is none.
  17. link These are very limited data points so one wouldn't jump to conclusion. BUT after watching traffic sitting for 14+ hours for the past two days, gas shortages and etc. one would think the only thing learned from Katrina is panic. Hopefully Rita won't be as devastating.
  18. The Enquirer? Good Lord, the only people who read that sh-- and believe it are the same people who voted for Bush! Either way, they get duped!
  19. There you go again, mickey, you freedom-hater. Remember war is peace in this brave new world...and by the same convoluted logic giving up freedom liberates you from fear. Uh huh. [note to neocons: this is sarcasm. there are definitions in dictionaries...]
  20. And while he's at it, give Texas back to Mexico. Or to really get even with France, throw Texas in with Louisiana for nothing.
  21. That's ShopNBC.
  22. I was at the Seattle-Atlanta game yesterday, and watched the Bills game on Tivo when I got home. The Atlanta receiving corps DWARFED the Seahawks' secondary, but they stopped them. I don't think the game was as close as the score indicated because the Seahawks just got lazy in the second half. At home, with the defense stinging from getting runned over by a Cadillac, I think they Bills can win. But, it will be with defense.
  23. I don't believe Atlanta has won here in years. Michael Vick pulled up lame (hamstring) after a 30+ yard run. Maybe he'll stiffen up this week. I don't know - they still have some darned good - HUGE - receivers, but the Bills D is pretty fast which the Seawaks is not. I think the Bills stand a good change to win. Hasselback is not a good QB either.
