The Non Pet Peeve Thread..AKA Awesome Stuff
Mr Info replied to plenzmd1's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Ditto, Paul...so excited for him. I have only had a few meetings with him through my boys but good kid. -
October 11, 2009 Browns 6, Bills 3 Winning QB Derek Anderson 2-17 23 yds 9 false start penalties by the Bills I was at that debacle. It is the worst professional game I ever saw in person or on TV. It was bad play by both teams and there were not any comical plays that at least you could laugh at. Plus the weather was not bad: no rain, upper 40s, and occasional wind gusts.

Saw them in Bristow VA last night. Mayer has injected some energy into the band & he was great. Fave last night was bluesy, rockin' Viola Lee Blues & JM kicked butt on it. Bobby sounds good & looks healthy, too. Imo, that arena (Nissan/Jiffy Lube) is by far the worst in all of rockdom for ingress/egress. Thought I would never return but coughed up for Premier Parking. But that was a joke as well. -

Pooj - thanks for the review. Will be seeing them Thurs night at Jiffy Lube in Bristow VA and then Sat night at Citi Field after catching the Yankees-Twins game in the Bronx. Really looking forward to it now. -
K-A, I travel internationally quite a bit and got Global Entry a while back. Then decided to get it for my wife and kids. Was able to arrange the interview on the same day for all of them; back-to-back-to-back. It was a while back but I believe I was able to call the airport office to assist with scheduling. One of the best programs: 5 minutes through customs along with TSA-precheck on every domestic flight. Even if you only take a couple of international flights over the five years, the expense is well worth it in the time savings you will get through customs. My wife has been able to travel with me on business a couple of times and she was shocked and relieved at the time difference through customs. Not certain about every US international airport but at Dulles you also receive priority baggage check through TSA after you have gone through customs and picked up your checked baggage.

I am taking my family to Ecuador for a couple of weeks at the end of this year. I am considering a visit to the Galapagos islands during this time. Can anyone recommend a tour company they have used? I am considering Stanford Travel http://www.stanfordtravel.com/ but interested if anyone has any experience with a tour company that works there. We are all healthy and active so not interested in a passive tour geared to seniors. The first week we are going to spend with the Cofán indigenous people in the rain forest, http://www.cofan.org/ (see Ecotours link). I saw Randy Borman (interesting guy) speak about the Cofán at a TEDx show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4yCdGB2NG4 and have made reservations with him to stay there. I can report back if anyone is interested in doing this type of activity. Post here or message me about Galapagos tour operators. Thanks

Hey Spun - I hope you have a wonderful time and TBD has added some great suggestions. I am in Paris periodically because I have family there and also for some business travel. I will provide some feedback which hopefully is a bit different from previous contributions. I like the islands in the center of Paris, Ile St-Louis and Ile de la Cité. The latter has Notre-Dame and there are other tourist sites around the islands for pics. Lots of nice bars, restaurants, specialty shops, gift shops, etc. along with viewing great architecture. Here is a link about the islands: http://www.fodors.com/world/europe/france/paris/neighborhoods/the-islands Also enjoy stopping at a nearby outdoor market (farmers market) wherever I stay. Great fresh food (one market I went to had 10 different types of oysters which were shucked on demand), and a possibility of some good pics. You never know what may be available at these markets but I/we pick up food and eat it as we move around the city. Also saves some $ on dining if that is a concern. Here's a link to markets by Arrondissement (sections) in Paris: http://goparis.about.com/od/farmers-markets/ Here is a link to the Arrondissements in Paris: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrondissements_of_Paris to find one near where you will be staying or ask your concierge for a nearby market.

Thx, that brings me back to something I used to do...snow skitching. For those unfamiliar http://skiernet.com/skitching.phpor google it for videos. My favorite recollections are when a driver knew I was on & sped up. Then my boots would hit a dry patch in the road & I would fall off & tumble and bounce on the road for a good while. Nucking futs but what a great time. -

At Reagan Airport right now waiting for a flight that will be leaving in an hour. Most other flights here are showing cancelled but not worried about mine as it's going away from Jonas. Easiest drive I ever had to DC today as most everything was closed and people were off the roads. -

First, I hope that Mort is able to receive a treatment that will send this cancer into remission and the best to his family in friends in dealing with this difficult situation. Now I would like to provide some feedback to your post. I work in Pharma R&D Vaccines & Oncology and our objective is to find cures. I have never seen suppression of research because it was a cure and not a treatment. I think you will actually see more 'cures' for cancer and other diseases developing like the recent Hep C treatments, Certainly those are expensive but it is being demonstrated that these treatments, which will eradicate the disease, are less expensive than the ongoing cost of clinical, surgical, and palliative care that would be alternatively provided. You make a valid point about staying healthy to assist in preventing cancer. But that is a good suggestion for inhibiting many maladies such as Type II diabetes, stroke, hypertension, etc. Though immunosuppression may have some type of involvement in catalyzing cancer, there may also be contributing factors from the environment and genetics among others. Some proposed treatments involve combination therapies for these factors. What is becoming increasingly evident is the mutation of cancer cells. In this case, the traditional treatment approaches become ineffective. it is becoming more apparent that personalized precision medicines (i.e., genes, proteins, etc.) are undergoing development as potentially more effective treatments. Newer targeted therapies based on your genome and/or the cancer genome are emerging, Lots of people working long hours trying to provide better treatments or cures for cancer,

Pegulas announce Rex and Whaley will return in 2016
Mr Info replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am typically an optimistic fellow but the good Dr raises some points that are unrelated to scheme & roster. Hopefully, Rex can change but there's that whole thing about leopards & spots. I agree with Heitz and enjoy the game day experience regardless of a W/L. Longtime remote season ticket holder & the four of us are traveling 500 mi for the game this weekend. But my family lives in the area so it's also about that. Back on topic - would never give up my tix because we always have an awesome time but it certainly would be so much awesomer if the time between playoff appearances wasn't a generation. -
