Beane and McDermott interviews from Combine
K-9 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was nothing “dumb” about McD’s comment, regardless. Can anyone here say our receivers were “consistent” in catching the ball as a group last year? More than anything, consistent means catching the damned ball at critical junctures in games. We were lacking in that area to say the least. -
I’m glad we made the playoffs before the new CBA

Nothing “cheap” about it. The Bills did what they had to do, the Ravens didn’t. We have nothing to apologize for. End of story. -

According to the Bills website, Saban was put on the wall in 2015.

Jaguars to decline DT Marcell Dareus' option

For what? For whatever player they may value enough to make that deal to move to that spot, whatever it is. I could consult the draft value chart for a more definitive formulaic breakdown, but that’s not necessary. The point is, those picks can be used to maneuver if the Bills feel it worth while to do so. I’m not saying it’s enough to go up very high, but if they really like a player still on the board at some point, they can be used as capital. -
Would you make a trade for Alshon Jeffery?

Tom Brady? Hell, I’ll settle for a player who’s just motivated to play for these coaches, teammates, and GM. Because he wasn’t his last season here. Not by a long shot. If there’s a player they really like early in the fourth or late in the third, they can become valuable chips to make a move. -
Yep. Singletary as a recent great example. They went down to Florida and worked him out exclusively as a receiver and he certainly didn’t disappoint.

Let’s see what the 5th and 6th round picks we got from Cleveland for Teller turn out to be before calling it a done deal. Right now they represent the 138th and 169th picks in the upcoming draft. Never know, Beane might find a gem or use them to trade up to find one. -
How can anyone be surprised that Tallon wouldn’t trade within the division to a team playing to catch them in the standings? Imagine if we got Trocheck, he suddenly found his game again, and was instrumental in helping us get past Florida. Tallon would never live it down. Good in JBotts for making the effort, but I don’t blame Tallon a-tall, as Rob Ray would say. On another note, Carter Spazgoalie is between the pipes tonight. We will be lucky if Colorado scores less than 6.

What was horrible about his decision to trade Scandella to Montreal for a 4th? That he should have waited 6 weeks for a team made desperate because they lost their Dman for the year due to a cardiac event on the bench during a game? St. Louis overpaid Montreal because they had to in order to acquire what they were looking for plus Montreal retained the maximum 50% salary to get it done; something JBotts didn’t have the luxury of at the time. Good for Montreal. Nobody, NOBODY, was gonna offer up a 2nd for Scandella other than the Blues in an emergency situation. I can’t add that to the list of legitimate JBotts mistakes. I get why others may want to, but like I said, whatever floats your boat.

How could anyone forget mighty Mathieu Biron? I have no delusions about them going on a run or continuing the run they’ve been on this month. I fully expect them to get waxed in Denver, smoked in Vegas, annihilated in Arizona, culminating in a revenge loss to the ‘Peg. My optimism knows no bounds! Enjoy the beers on the porch anyway.

An alien species that is only 5% smarter than us only bolsters the idea that intelligent life, indeed, does not exist elsewhere.

Can’t imagine why he’d lie about it? At this time of year? I can’t imagine why he’d be truthful about it.

Do you think Montreal gets that 2nd from St. Louis if Bouwmeester doesn’t go into cardiac arrest on the bench and is lost for the season as a result? I’m as unimpressed by JBotts as the next detractor and I seriously question his ability to identify and acquire talent, especially on the O side of things, but I’m not gonna fault him for Montreal being able to take advantage of a desperate trading partner 6 weeks after the fact, either.

Not surprised you’d miss the bigger picture here. Most of the time, people too simply define a “#1 receiver” as the “go to” guy with the most catches. And that’s simply not going to be the case like it used to be in this era of specialization, where matchups are key every week. There are gonna be games where your “#1” simply doesn’t provide the best matchup opportunity on a play to play, series to series basis, depending on the matchups presented. -
That’s not entirely true as Cincy is a member of The National, one of the two league scouting alliances along with BLESTO. Each team needs to dedicate one scout to the group. So while the Bengals may not employ as many scouts or have as robust a scouting department, they are privy to a wealth of compiled scouting data on each prospect.
