Polowczyk, the Vice Director of Logistics for the Joint Chiefs, that the idea of the WPA is to INDEED to disrupt supply chains in order to get vital equipment into the hands of those that need it. Directly. There is no need for vital equipment to go to the private sector first as he said was happening yesterday. Contrary to certain opinion, the Federal government, read US Military, is INDEED a supply and shipping clerk; the very best in the world. INDEED, our logistical superiority helped win WWII for crissakes. And Jarod needs to understand that the states are INDEED entitled to OUR federal stockpiles. Brace yourself NYC, because when you run out of ventilators in a week, the death numbers are gonna spike big time. End rant.

I wonder if it was him that leaked it, though. I’d bet it was a civilian at the Pentagon before I’d think it was him. The Secretary of the Navy said he doesn’t know who leaked it. Anyway, he at least gets to keep his rank if not his ship and crew.

Been saying that forever. The very nature of pandemics makes them inherently political. And there is nothing wrong with calling out poor leadership in the management of them. Indeed, I suspect that internal criticism has led some leaders to rethink their strategies.

IIRC, Breaking Bad didn’t get assurances from AMC until near the end of season three, so their time crunch was alleviated before the final couple seasons, anyway. I’ll have to find those interviews with Gilligan at the time.

I suspect it wouldn’t impact their quality much at all. They produced some seasons of BB under the constant threat of non renewal by AMC and actually had to write several different plots and endings as a result. They created some great TV under intense tight time constraints. I think that pressure served them well.

It is amazing. But I’m not surprised in the least given Gilligan, his writers, directors, cinematographers, etc. etc., could complete each other’s sentences after their years of perfecting Breaking Bad.

I was referring to Bertrand’s citing of Forbes in the second of the tweets posted above, pertaining to the 280m masks sitting in US warehouses purchased by foreign buyers on Monday alone. I also saw the politico article about the discussion with Thailand and the hundreds of millions of masks on their way to Bangkok.

Forbes isn’t exactly a tabloid rag. Given what we know about the lack of cohesive planning across all levels, is there ANY reason to doubt the veracity of this report? Of course not. This is why the DPA is so critical during a time of national crisis. And that’s why it was particularly distressing to read the news article this morning that the DPA has been used ROUTINELY in the last three years. Over a thousand times in order to procure vital equipment. If the health of the public and those who provide the critical care for it is NOT a first line of defense, then nothing is.

We are a couple months into this thing and a haven’t had any semblance of a national plan to this point. To have a national plan requires national planners. I suspect a national plan is not forthcoming any time soon. My son, Two Dogs F ing, will get a kick out of this.

Still? Hard to believe given what we know about this. Willful ignorance is a polite way of saying stupid. And yet, we still have 20 state governors refusing to issue social distancing orders. One of those, Missouri, has seen a 600% spike in positive tests in the last week. Dumb Fs, all of them.

This Bloomberg article really pissed me off. Doctors and nurses getting fired for speaking out? Really? They are doing the public a great service by letting us know how dire their situations are and these hospital administrations insist on treating it like a public relations issue. Don’t know if anyone saw today’s daily briefing, but what Fauci said at the end was sobering. He said this virus is unprecedented. This is a man who has been at the forefront of research in the fight against some of the worst viruses we’ve known. When he says this thing is something he’s never seen, it gives me pause.

Not disappointed at all. I thought the latest episode was fantastic. I think people are just not into discussing this and other shows lately due to the pandemic.

The mental health toll of this pandemic is immeasurable. Every ounce of my fiber would need to be beside my son or daughter if they were in this situation. To not be there in person to comfort and soothe a loved one is cruel. F this F ing virus.

It’s a pretty simple proposition, actually: if we want to protect and save the economy, we FIRST have to protect and save the public that makes it all possible in the first place. It’s beyond comprehension that it’s even a question with some.

Dr. Birx should be made to watch Cuomo’s response to the question about ventilators at today’s presser. Her crap about how he’s not even using the 4,000 already shipped and how she’s just not seeing the need for 30,000 is as short sighted as it comes and is indicative of how we’ve only been REactive vs. PROactive in our national response to this point. Cuomo cited several studies, including that of the CDC, indicating that at current trends we will need the 30,000 at the apex. The idea is to be prepared when the time comes, not when the apex hits and then you realize you need all those ventilators. Basic common sense. I’ve used the word malpractice several times in describing our national response. This is another example.

I love the Winnipeg barn for this very reason. That place is loud on tv, I can imagine how loud it gets in person.
