  1. Bill Belichick: super stable genius!
  2. Yeah, the intellectual dishonesty is off the shelf with those people. If you haven’t already, check out the three videos linked by @Warcodered on page two of the thread. It’s on full display in the latter two videos.
  3. Do flat earthers accept that the moon’s shadows are cast by the earth? If so, how do they explain a flat edge casting a curved shadow? If not, what do they think casts shadows on the moon?
  4. The NHL is beyond absurd. What other sports league would give 24 teams, 77% of the league, a chance to win the championship or be awarded the first overall pick in the draft upon entering the same post-season tournament?
  5. Sagan often said publicly how skeptical he was of such claims and I’m sure he’d continue to do so today. For instance, here’s an article about an interview he did in 1996, a year before he died. As a scientist, he carried this skepticism throughout his career. https://www.wired.com/story/sagan-old-interview/
  6. 1. The accuracy of Eratosthenes’s observations have been borne out countless times in countless ways since he first made his calculations. The lack of instant communication in 240 bc had no bearing at all on his applied mathematics. 2. Again, what Sagan “says” in the video is not what matters; it’s what he demonstrates with his elementary school experiment that validates Eratosthenes‘s original experiment and proves, once again, that the earth is round. Not that any sane people need further evidence and convincing. What Sagan “believed” in regarding the existence of alien life is irrelevant. He was a student of the scientific method and I suspect he would agree with what the math indicates.
  7. The last video with “McFlatty” was pure gold! My favorite part was when he said he still needs to see ‘The Truman Snow’ but he can’t find it at a Redbox anywhere. Agree that the poor schmuck who paid 20k for that gyroscope got hosed, but what about the guy that Eratosthenes got to walk 800 kilometers for his experiment?
  8. Yes, that’s what I’m saying. You got that right and I thank you for pointing that out. I’ll wait to see an actual refutation of the experiment before I further engage with any flat earther. It just gets so tiring repeating the same joke.
  9. Oh no, they’re out there. I don’t know if stupid is the right word though. I think it’s more willful ignorance. Which is far worse, imo.
  10. If you watched the video then you’d know the irrefutable proof had nothing to do with what Sagan told me, but everything to do with the experiment he demonstrated. An experiment that elementary school children have been doing for generations. If that escapes you, then perhaps trying to actually refute the experiment is not in your wheel house.
  11. Hadn’t seen this since I was a kid watching this episode of Cosmos with Carl Sagan. Every flat earther needs to see this.
  12. Bill Gates offers some interesting perspectives in this interview: https://apple.news/AjtLjc6FfTaaOHGEnnN7ltQ
  13. That’s in some off shore investment fund, I’m sure.
  14. I don’t think it takes its place; it’s “in addition to” whatever preseason injuries occur as well.
  15. You’d think Israel’s experience would inform us, but no. It’s only a matter of time before Georgia, Missouri, and others see the same kind of result. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/04/world/middleeast/coronavirus-israel-schools-reopen.html
  16. Yeah, that was cheap and I apologize for the remark. My frustration with the leadership in this country got the better of me.
  17. What kind of governor coerces school districts to open by threatening funding to be withheld? After seeing that pic of the MO gov, I’m gonna blame regressive genetics. Mean? Yes. But F that guy for deliberately putting people at risk.
  18. It’s a good thing that young people aren’t vectors for the disease to spread.
  19. Hey, @Hapless Bills Fan, I was hoping you might shed some light on this. A dear friend of mine was presenting symptoms and went to get a test. It was a parking lot drive thru deal and all they did was use a regular Q-tip and swabbed the sides of her nostrils; not the 6 inch, brain poking swab to the back of the nasal cavity. The test came back negative, but we are not sure about its accuracy given the procedure. Are you or anyone you know acquainted with this kind of nasal swab? Is it reliable? Thanks.
  20. Lotta catches, lotta yards, lotta TDS.
