Progressives tout California Health care "success"

iss the same commcercial insurer who contracts with providers, why would it be any less of quality? Its the payment mechanism, not the delivery of care that as question, right? I guess Aetna could agree to pay diffrernetial based on whether you hold a group plan or an exchange plan, but a hospital tends to agree to rates globally with insurance companies. I do and don't think it will impact costs, it will shift them. I am of the opinion cost in healthcare will go up until a few things to happen 1.) People start dying way earlier 2.) we stop develping nascent therpies that go against #1 the ACA is attempting to bring more money into the system, aka young people, therby shifting the overall cost of care across a larger population... we all know that as Risk Pooling.. that is nothing new and is real core in any healthcare reform proposal. What I have been seeing as I reasearch plans both here in Colorado and in Maine, is that most plans are a premium payment, but coupled wiht a deductible of different sizes- so Cat plans as their called... I believe once you put people the postion of making hard choices, alot of people will chose to forgo care rather than pay for it.... to me, it will improvbe utilization, and that is not rationaling, that is personal financial choices. To believe cost in Healthcare are going to decrease in any real sense is an unnattainable goal... the realistic goal is slowing the rate of growth, it will remain to be seen if ACA achieves that.. being a supporter I hope that is the case, but then again we don't know until the data is out after implenentation. In my view, in a for-profit healthcare system, where there are no price controls and rations for expensive care, Americans who desire care will simple have to plan their lives around it like they do car payments, home payments, etc... -

or maybe you just don't give a ****.... http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/07/17/rolling-stone-features-boston-bombing-suspect-dzhokhar-tsarnaev-on-cover/ It doesn't bother me. People can chose not to buy RS if they want. -

Is that a bad thing? Doesn't that represent less uncertainty for your business, dealing with Heathcare plans and other admin BS? -

I don't get why they don't just kill the employer mandate... there is simply no reason for it to be there anyway, since the law essentially guarantees an individuals ability to obtain coverage, in fact, mandates it. Business that are doing well and need people may offer a commercial group plan or devise a plan of their own to attract workers.... companies that are doing poorly can tell employers to go to their State's exchange and buy their own coverage, and if they are lower to mid tier wage workers they will get a tax refund to buy that insurance anyway. Really, the mandate hurts workers because companies will want to offer an excellent package of benfits incuding group insurance, therefore compete for higher skilled, better qualified staffing- aka ****ty businesses will need to get the act together to survive. One of the goals (not the goal as a posted a while back incorrectly- don't post while drinking, lol) of the ACA IMHO was to break the employer based insurance system... Compaines just starting out can be more nimble because they can't afford a group plan because they are reinvesting back into their business, but when when they are successful and stable, they have the option to take care of employee and extend beneifts, or give a stipend for employees to use ont he Exchanges. It really doesn't make alot of sense when you think about it. -

First, if Medicare happened, single payor is not impossible... And really, what **** storm?? The Conservative narrative **** storm? The law has not even gone into effect yet (for the most part outside of kids staying on parents insurance, included screenings, etc), how can it have already failed?? Paul Ryan wanted to basically ACA Medicare.... Ironic because Democrats called him Satan, Republicss hailed his boldness- and for all intents and purposes, he proposed what Obama signed 3 years ago.... Isn't that kind of crazy? Man, were splitting hairs on policy.... Look, i love a great **** storm debate as much as anyone, but kind of hard to evaluate a law when we have not even seen its main objective go into effect yet, no? Right now isn't it all conjecture and fear in the minds of opponents?? How do you empirically measure it at this point??? -

Its all about perspective really. If you have a pre-exisiting condition you see the obvious advantages of the ACA even in lieu of the disadvantages. If you have never considered going it alone and always relay on employer group plans, railing in the ACA is great for the dedicated partisan to talk about and ride bets on its rough implemntation and fall short on set goals. Repealing the ACA doesn't terrify me, in fact, I am not convinced the Bill should have been comprehensive, instead should have addressed urgent pieces of the problem like covering the people who desire to be covered, etc.... but what terrifies me is 1 party who wants to repeal has no plans t replace it with anyting- that to me is more terrfiying that the monolith ACA -
and to think some fans nearly lost their **** when he was the selection.... NIx said he wanted playmakers and gamechangers.... he is one of the two right now, with an Offensive coordinator who head is not in his ass, he might become the other as well.

I agree with this 100%. College overall was kind of useless for most kids, you don't really learn anything that is a hard skill (for most degrees, not all), and you're eduction really comes on the job- maybe instead of having kids borrow 50-100K for a degree, maybe we strive to create an environment in high schools that really trains and identifies kids who have apititude, skip the 4 year party, and get these kids learning on the job in a field that they are interested in. I spent 4 years in College after being pushed by parents, then 3 years in Grad School after being sold it was absolutely necessary. All I wanted to do at 18 was become a craftsman.. after 15 years of paying off schools loans (my grad school was paid for) and working at this professional job, I am almost certain next year I am changing direction and pursuing the craftsman path... Why do we have to push everybody into the same position... IMHO, we don't. **and yes, the Government makes it worse with subsidizing it. I have friend with 175K in student debt with Doctoral in Sociology... really?

Maybe we should encourage kids not to borrow so much upfront....

My father in law is probably going to forced to retire because of a heart condition..... He has went and on and on about repealing the ACA, how it is terrible and would ruin the country..... Guess who was asking question about buying insurance through the Colorado ACA exchange last night... Lol.... All of the sudden, not so evil.... 59 with a long way to go the Medicare.... He also asked how we would get insurance next year when my wife and I moved to Maine for the year for my woodworking school.... I told him Maine's exchange is ready to go for Jan 1, 2014.... Another piece of the ACA reform.... He seemed to have no idea that the acts sole purpose was to expand coverage and de-link it from employment if needed.... He is a guy who prides himself of being up and up with politics and public policy..... He is either retarded, following another country's politics and doesn't realize, or he is so partisan he can't fathom this law might help him...... Why not make all insurance default at the individual level, and if an employers want to offer better cheaper plan to attract talent, then let them do so... The beauty of the ACA is it lets individuals buy and keep coverage.... People will not feel tethered to a job for benefits anymore, they are more free to chose plans and employers no longer have have a whole team in place just to outline the Healthcare packages they wants. I like the idea if giving a tax break for employers who put away say 200k for employee Health expenses.... Let the buy a plan that only kicks in after the 200k is exhausted, if it ever does.... Some of my patients already have done this and it is much less expensive or the employers, sans a catastrophic employee illness... -

you have to think they were comfortable enough with the bad boy act being mostly bark no bite when they extended him... I don't like the Patriots, I also don't believe for a second they thought they guy was going to commit homicides, and lastly, I empathize with their oragnization- no organization should have to find out one of their members has probably killed 3 if not more human beings... -

10 years at my current employer, one move internally. My plan right now is to be resigning from this job 7/1/2013 and moving onto a new chapter in my work life, something I like instead of just for money- -
Well in that case, no big deal then...

Jesus, what a sewer of humanity. http://dailycaller.com/2013/05/13/syrian-rebel-leader-eats-heart-of-enemy-soldier-on-camera-video/ A rebel commander eats his enemies heart... the are killing them, eating their hearts and filming in on You Tube to intimidate their opposition- what god foresaken reason do we have getting involed with people like this? Giver Israel a part of Texas on the coast and lets be done with that areas of the earth, its beyond saving...

Three Sons is in Savannah, there is typically a line around the corner, the line if full of gigantic humans, and eating there has a direct link to hear disease and diabetes..... It is really, really good comfort food..... My other favorites are Justine's in Charleston, and Gus' Fried Chicken in Nashville

I saw a stat somewhere this AM that roughly 75% of receivers targeted last season are no longer on the roster. Its hard to believe that you have that kind of drop off and still contend... I am sure they will win the Division, but the Pats will get steamrolled by the Broncos this year....

Elway, Manning and Welker are probably laughing their asses off right now... not only did they sign Welker so Manning will have 10,000 recepetions, but their competition is the AFC is not alot less, competitive
