Hillary-always a scandal in Clinton land
B-Large replied to major's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
She will raise a PHUCK LOAD OF MONEY.... she will have Bill and Barack out fundraising... the Hillary Campaign will raise enought money in 2016 to literally halve the National Debt... now, seriosuly though, she will outraise any other contender in primaries or the General... that is the appeal for Democrats electorally. That being said, she is Smart, Crafty and Women will love her.... -

but doctors are still making a ton of money... heck, internist make 150-200K, Dermatologists are making 300-400K.. for some Nerds this is a relatively easy way to make income in the top 3% of Americans, get the Presitige they may not get in the Business World, and unless you !@#$ up pretty bad is so secure its sick. I know a ton of MD who B word about how many hours they work, how tough the job is, etc... they make a ton money i compensation... so I tell them "wh not leave, you're really smart, go do something else".... they tell me this is all they know. As for kids in school, yes they will have to take on some debt to go to Medical School, but they will have to do that potnetially being a Lawyer, Accountant, heck even a top business school if they don't have company that pays for it... I judt buy the notion that HCR somehow negates what I stated above- brilliant people will still try to into the top Med Schools and go into careers that will set them up for th rest of their lives. -

I kind of go the impression that the Research Triangle was the only Liberal part of NC... he parts we incurred on our Road Trip earlier this year were all pretty conservative, outside of Raleigh. The voters said their peace, so what is happening is the will of the people. If the Voting ID laws are found to be discriminatory, they will be challenged up to the highest court. Limiting abortion in trm of how far into the pregnancy has always been a debate, and the Nations schools are failing to achieve for the Children, so are trying new ways to educate that radical? -

Most people will keep their PCP It was not promised to reduce the deficit, just not add to it Insurers are bloating premium in preperation for the ACA implentation because they can no longer gouge people with rate increases and refund overcharges when the law does into effect The quality outcomes remain to be seen, hard to predict the outcomes and unintended consequences I know conservatives have backed themselves into an idealogical corner on this law, and that this is a MB and really who really cares what truth is but consider the unbioased site below of pros and cons of the law.. its fair, and lays out reality versus myths: http://obamacarefact...os-and-cons.php -

I've already heard a large campaign for the Latino community here in Denver on radio.... My hope is it is not just advertising, but informs people on the realities of the law, and set straight alot of the distortions and myths out there right now. -

It didn't have total public support, they deemed and passed it. ah ****, this was incomplete, I will fill it in later.... thats the point, nothing as really changed. the ACA is a double down on what we had, with more protections against the least desireable actions of insurance companies. some people argue cost is not controlled, but the bill is written to do that as well... but we can't know how this will workout until it is implemented (thats sounds Pelosi like, I know) -

What Doctor will not take a credit card payment for more than what his charges will be reimbursed by insurers? That's like saying I know I will only get $1.00 from United Healthcare, but hey cash payor, I will not take your $1.35 based on principle? I run oversee cash programs at the hospital, all the who's who in town pay in cash for things that are outside of their insurance, they have been doign it for 10 years and I am sure before I came on the scene There have been no discussion of any divergence of plans we have offered in the past at the hospital... I sit on Kitchen Cabinet meetings (C-Level Meetings) each month and never has there been paranoia about health plan options like you cite... nor have I found estimes on the Colorado Exchanges to be all cadillac plans, or some kind of ruse on the consumer... they seem to me to be cat plans wiht deductibles.... I am not sayign your are wrong about abrupt changes in the group plan marketplace, but have not seen it come to pass yet so perhaps its a running topic in which one day I will say I was right, or you will again say I old you so... I think that's a fair assumption, he is the President not a healthcare policy wonk. Sigh. and it doesn't matter, people's group plans will not cease to exist Jan 1, and at open enrollment their options by the employer would likely have changed anyway as employers consider more competitive plans.. Each year Cigna comes and goes, Aetna comes and goes, Rocky Mountain Health Plans comes and goes, Kaiser is a mainstay and our Captive University Plan stays... and so on, and so forth -

It was the reality prior to Obama's plan or presidency- you made this a referredum on Obama for partisan puposes, I didn't. The truth is people with means pay cash for consistency and convenience when they see the need (concierge practices blew up way before the senetor from Illinois was even heard of), the group in the middle play whim to their insurance carrier, and the poor get what we determine we are willing to provide. LA, you're smart guy and a good poster, but you really want to espouse the "upfront, honest and trasparent" test to a poltican, and I mean any politician? They skirt the line between between infer and imply for a vocation... the reality here is the ACA is not really that much different that what was in place- its an expansion of private insurance companys marketplace, with rules placed on both the buyer and insurer... to which in the end is mutally beneficial. As the end of the day I would prefer this never come pass, that insurers offered insurance to all customers who wanted to buy it, deaedbeats got turned away and that Americans got down with the fact that healthcare us expensive and not going Walmart anytime soon... so when the committee is done, this is what we get. -
B, it wasn't really close last year either. Comparison Legit?

I do like the plug for the book that claims the media stole the 2012 election.. if so, does that mean the Media stole the 2010 Mid-terms in the House as well? That was a huge swing in seats, so can the media only control POTUS results?

People can always keep their doctor no matter what Group or Individual Plan they have, its called paying in cash. People have that option, in fact more people are going to concierge programs because their plans network of providers does change. New Employees here at my hospital have to change their primary care provider and specialist provider if they want the very cost effective self insured group plan... that isn't the ACA dictatig that, that is the plan. You can always keep your health plan, convince your HR dept to never change the optiona at open enrollment (Our TPA changes every year from Cign to BC/BS and back), or prior to ACA, keep paying your premiums on your private individual plan and pray your don't even need to use it for something big and go back and find a reason to cut you off. the ACA did not change your MD, or change your plan, the health insurance industry does that. Tecnically, the President was not lying, these things changed before the ACA and will continue to change after. -

It's really not, no matter how much conservatives want to perpetuate that narrative... All partisans have now is the prayer that this thing struggles and people hate it, but like other programs in time people will see this bill as favorable and will want to see it stay.. Well that and procedural strategies to slow implementation and they cite that as "failing" I am sure when SS and Medicare passed the same rhetorical fear campaign happened... Didnt make much of a difference.... -

Think of far right this has moved.... Democrats passed the Heritages Heathcare Proposal of 17 years prior, and Republicans hate it through and through... Makes you wonder if this is EXACTLY the plan that was needed... It isn't Socialized Medicne, but it way better than whtwe had.. With all due respect, group plan changes force people to change their PCP... Sometimes annually due to network changes... Prior to reform/ after reform people can always keep their PCP.... Just pay in cash... -

that's fine they are profitable, for one blockbuster Lipitor there are thousands of write down dogs. The question on my mind is why do we, US citizens, have to be the ones making up for the steep price differentials that Drug Compaines sell to other countries? Why can't we buy the same drug online over the internet from England, Sweden,, Canada? Why can't Medicare, a volume buyer, negotiate for steep price discounts? -

How do you account for other countries who deliver better outcomes at half the cost we incur? Worldwide Conspiracy? Deliberate False Reporting? Magic? Socialized Medicine system should cost much more based on your assertion of "Government Always Costs More"... People here are laser focused on cost and they beat us everytime in that catagory.... how is that? *** I am not saying it has to be a Federal Issue, it could be a State program. -

Its hard to imagine shutting down mutlibillion dollar industry like health insurance and nationalizing it... heck, half of he GOP right now rally against Medicare, would prefer to see it be gone and be privatized, or my new monkier, "ACA'ing" it.... I don't mind the idea as we are making all citzens under 65 do it, but I do worry about seniors slowing down and making decision like which plan to enroll in... well that and the Insurance Industry wants to keep Medicare right where it is. -

If employers cut healthcare plans and deem it up to each workers to find their own plans, it would seem logical the market for pay would correct for that. I guess workers could apply for medicaid, but the criteria for Caid is pretty low, so working persons would likely not qualify. the ACA will give them a credit to buy insurance I guess, but individuals would still be reposinble to pay the rest or pay the tax. Single payor is easier and lower cost overall, their outcomes are typically better than ours on many indicators- it makes sense, less convoluted, less adminstrative BS, people routinely understand what is and what is not covered, and how the system works (ask the typicaly Group Plan enrollee what is and is not covered in their plan, not a clue most of them)... Medicare enrollee's like it even though they are about to find out they will be paying more out of pocket..... but Americans don't want that, so why discuss it?
