  1. I'm actually in favor of giving EJ the entire season to work out the kinks, but, if you were going to go the Orton route, I think you give EJ one more game against a good Lions defense to bury himself. I honestly don't see any possibility of him playing well in that situation, so it's almost a guaranteed loss and EJ meltdown. Then, coming back to the Ralph, against the Pats, there is absolutely no way you can play EJ without the crowd showering the field with boos. It's the perfect setup to insert Orton and give the team an emotional lift against a divisional opponent.
  2. Fitz is clowning us.
  3. By the time every Sunday rolls around I've convinced myself that EJ isn't that bad and that we should stick with him. Then I watch him for 30 minutes and long for orton. Lol.
  4. Fitz seems like a really cool dude, but he was infuriating to watch as the starting qb for the Bills. I so wanted the guy to succeed. Would have been a great feel good story for Fitz and the city of Buffalo, but it just wasn't meant to be. I'm ok with us moving on. Let's hope Manuel or the next qb finally deliver what we've been patiently waiting for these past 15 years.
  5. I'd argue that Hackett has a better o-line and a much better receiving corps than Gailey had to work with. QB and RBs about the same. I'm not one that is necessarily down on Hackett, but I do think Gailey did a good job with the tools at hand. Our offense was absolutely putrid under Jauron.
  6. Maybe. But you're not making your 22 better if the better option isn't seeing the field. As for your question - yes. Especially if you're dealing with a young, unconfident qb, and you're directly responsible for creating and placing him in a situation that will increase his likelihood of being boo'd on his home field.
  7. Does anyone else feel like it was a huge mistake to bring in Orton if they don't intend to play him? If I'm honest with myself, I know I would be far less critical of EJ after a game like yesterday's if he only had Thad and Tuel behind him. The fact that there is a legitimate, experienced, QB option on the bench, makes performances like the one we saw from EJ against the Bolts much harder to stomach. I think they've put EJ in a bad position. He's going to receive constant catcalls from a large segment of the fanbase and will be looking over his shoulder as long as Orton is here. As a front office and coaching staff, if you're committed to EJ and comfortable with the idea of this being a rebuilding/learning year, then why not go with a guy like Jordan Palmer (as terrible as he was) to serve as EJs mentor, instead of a guy that is a real threat to steal his job?
  8. To be honest, it looked like he and some of the other receivers completely quit on the last drive. My Dad and I noticed that if they weren't the primary receiver on the play, they basically just jogged/walked their routes. Probably because they knew they'd never see the ball from EJ if the play wasn't designed for them. I think EJ could lose these guys in a hurry if he doesn't get it together.
  9. I'm with everyone else. Choosing to punt from the 43 after the penalty. Marrone was handed a golden opportunity to change momentum and he turned it down out of fear (or maybe just stupidity). Game was lost right there.
  10. This. Can you imagine EJ with the WRs and oline that Fitz and Trent had to work with? Maybe75 yards per game.
  11. I'd like to see what orton could do with all these weapons. And what's with the urgency to rush EJ when he clearly isn't ready. Let's ride the vet and let EJ absorb the game from the sideline. Worked for aaron rodgers.
  12. Jc...he was terrible today. Stats do not tell the story. Teammates will quit on him if that continues. Many already did on the last drive.
  13. Not sure what people expected from Goodell. He answers to the owners...period. Owners are raking in the cash and the sport, outrage be damned, is as popular as ever.
  14. if he has three more all-pro years and wins a couple of super bowls, then he has an outside chance.
  15. Some dumb decisions off the field, but by all accounts I've read, he's very advanced when it comes to his mental development on the field. I've also heard he's a good student. I'm a relatively smart guy but I did some very stupid and irresponsible things in my late teens while in college.
  16. He's young and his missteps are borne from immaturity, not malice. He's a great talent and I wouldn't have a problem rooting for him, so long as he continues to mature and eliminates the embarrassing actions.
  17. TY. Nice post. Hit the nail on the head.
  18. No. I'm just enjoying this moment for what it is. A young football team that's played two very good games. If Manuel continues to protect the ball and plays the caretaker role, I can see this season mirroring 1988, not 2008/2011.
  19. @ Texans in a defensive slugfest.
  20. Chargers don't really ever blow anyone out. I expect a Bills win. I think we play conservatively again and the difference is a defensive or special teams touchdown. Bills 23 Chargers 17
  21. Exactly. Bills' opponents are 0-2 against the Buffalo Bills. Consider that for a moment before heaping praise on the Bills for these victories.
  22. San Diego played a perfect game. I've lived here for 7 years and that's the best I've ever seen them play. They always struggle in early games on the road (outside of their playoff win at Cinci last year). I expect a Bills' win.
  23. Ohrnberger has been solid for the Chargers. I don't think there's that much of a dropoff between him and Hardwick.
  24. "But this is how we've always done it in the Catholic Church!"
  25. There is no more impressive 2-0 team in the league. That should be good enough for #19 this week.
