  1. There is no quarterback in the NFL I would rather have, the man, the person and the player. I know you are making Grandma proud in all three areas!
  2. He seems to have settled in. Plus it is fun to cheer "Bassmaster" when he makes one!
  3. You had me for a while, but lost me when you said play in at MLB. Lee lacks sand in the pants. If you want to play him with Tre sometimes, okay, let's see how he does in spot duty. But he is bouncing around the league for a reason.
  4. Share this view - based on a fan's eyeball test vs. Pats I thought Marlowe was a defensive difference-maker. A brightspot.
  5. I mentioned in another post, I would like to see more Siran Neal, maybe instead of Klein when we are guessing pass. Dean Marlowe balled against the Pats, I thought, get him on the field more too, even when Hyde plays. Sitting in our base D just doesn't work with Milano and Edmunds banged up. We have to bring unexpected players from unusual angles and increase team speed on the field when expecting pass. I think we saw some of that in the Pats game.
  6. I have a lot of respect for Siran Neal's game. Dude is a hitter, and a sure tackler (notwithstanding the Houston game). I would like to see him used in more packages designed to rush and contain mobile QBs, help cover drag routes across the middle. The play where him and Milano both bounced off Watson was all-time unlucky, but it showed what Siran can bring off the edge. And I think he has the quicks to actually get Wilson on the ground. Let him lurk in the middle some and cover crossing routes with one eye on Wilson. Same concept as some are suggesting about Darren Lee, but I trust Siran Neal more than Lee and he knows the system better. Their weight is not too different.
  7. Hyde is always the one McDermott talks to on the sidelines. We need to draft an off-corner #1, get some quality depth at LB and re-sign Milano. We do that I think our D will be back at the top of the league. Oh, and get Star or another tub of goo to clog the run. No need to ditch Hyde, maybe a modest restructure.
  8. I respectfully disagree. I think if Zo came back he would be the definition of all-in. It is in his DNA. The way he acted his entire career. What kept him in the league so long despite the fact no one wanted him at the outset. I think he senses this could be special, and that he respects McDermott enough to say "only if you think I can help, I will be there."
  9. A+ Allen has more heart, toughness and competitiveness than any quarterback in the NFL I have ever seen. Ever. He won that game on sheer willpower (and a timely flag, and some beautiful throws). He was taking a beating. Man he's tough. Jets fans friends warned me Winters is a mauler in the run game, effective, but very bad at pass pro. Don't like seeing him in there at guard. Was Ford okay?
  10. No question, Kroft has possession and never loses it until down. Play should have been dead. Terrible call.
  11. Brown would be sorely missed if out for any time, but Davis is a revelation. Still, Smoke is Smoke.
  12. One other thing about Deon, in 2018 he was second team behind Milano at WLB
  13. Good point. I liked the Lacey resigning. He can run a bit, no? Actually, found this on Lacey from a 2018 article: Speed is Lacey's asset. He ran between 4.45 and 4.51 in the 40-yard dash in 2013 coming out of Division II West Alabama, where he played mostly as a 215-pound defensive end. Now he's 229 pounds.
  14. Smart to not rush them. Long season for key players. Don't make what appears to be relatively minor injuries into chronic, nagging, season-long problems. Glad its the Fish. No guarantee we win, but it is the right decision to sit them if they are not 100% or darn close.
  15. His salary is just over $6 million -- not much for a quality end anyhow. I think $3 million of his pay or so is amortized bonus that we would have ate even if we cut him. He is only 29, probably has 3 good years left. If he has an eight sack season, gets pressure and is stout against the run, why would we not re-sign him? He is a six year vet and missed a full year - should have plenty left in his body for another 3 years.
  16. He knew, that's why he caused the league to schedule the Jets first. Beane is a warlock
  17. Absurd. He is weapon-challenged, but that was atrocious today. He looked scared.
  18. Given Jets D-line strength, and lack of time to gel, I think we roll with our line for a bit. Feliciano a week closer.
  19. The saddest thing for Jets fans is they need a new quarterback. They waited nearly 30 years since Namath. Darnold has regressed and I don't think he can do it at this level.
  20. Both these linebackers are essential for us. Milano is not undersized by modern NFL linebacker standards and how they want to use him. A pulled hammy is not from being undersized. Pay the man!
  21. I think too harsh to say no excuses. First NFL game man, give him a break. If it continues we get Hauschka off the couch (or did he sign someplace?)
  22. They said it was a shoulder and "unlikely to return" -- which I take as a good sign. As in maybe he could have returned. But maybe I am being too optimistic . . . can't lose him or Milano. Their speed, smarts and leadership change it all.
