  1. I think Beane is kicking butt so far: Guard, run stuffing DTs and a pass-catching receiver were all high on my wish list. Now: Much more speed at CB (though sad to see Levi go), Edge and WR. Let's go!
  2. We have a hole at 2nd tight end. Bean seems to like these cut players to fill holes. Would not count against a comp pick right? And only 27 years old. Wizard Beane is methodically filling holes. So far addressed guard, two run stuffing DTs and a back that will help in passing game. TE, along with Corner, WR and Edge are my remaining hopes for FA and draft. Hooper would fill one!
  3. I am very sorry to see Levi go. Consummate professional, squeezed all the performance he could out of the athleticism he got at birth. I will always root for him. Go get 'em Levi, just not against us!
  4. Star hurt us with the COVID opt-out. If he didn't have so much dead cap this year he would be gone, IMHO. He only has that much dead cap now because his contract was frozen during his COVID opt-out. Beane should have been able to escape Star this year, not his fault we can't afford to walk from him now.
  5. Fired up about Settle. We may have fixed our run D and we can maximize Oliver, maybe Edmunds. Not sure how to put the link in, but you can copy and paste this in the address bar: Washington Football Team have to ReSign Tim Settle 😳🔥 | He’s A Dog - YouTube I wanted Travis Jones in the 2nd, but I don't think we need him know.
  6. Traded down: 37. Trent McDuffie CB Washington 57. Travis Jones DT Connecticut 65.Lecitus Smith OG Virginia Tech 80. George Pickens WR Georgia 89. Skyy Moore WR Western Michigan 168. Hassan Haskins RB Michigan 202. Josh Paschal EDGE Kentucky 229. Zach Tom OT Wake Forest 244. Matt Araiza P San Diego State
  7. Love Knox and want us to sign him. This is the year to draft a good tight end by rounds 3-4 so (i) can create mismatches with Knox on the field, (ii) give us a tiny bit of leverage in the Knox negotiations, and (iii) provide us some insurance in case Knox is showered with cash by a team that overpays and that Beane won't match.
  8. Instead of Davis I would like a fast, talented CB in Rd. 1, or trade down and get that CB early in RD. 2, adding a pick that helps the offense. Get Travis Jones or Phidarian Mathis in the second. Double team eaters.
  9. Patterson would be sweet, or Penny, but I think we can get a back in the draft without a premium pick to compliment Singletary - a bruiser or a speedster, whatever Beane wants. Why pay for Hunt?
  10. I have been reading that many think Devonte Wyatt is the better prospect vs. Davis, and he should be there. I also believe we need to pick a fast corner within the first two picks, our secondary is not fast. It is covered up by our scheme and the professionalism of the players we have.
  11. Maybe so, but Woolen ]has little to do with the mock. Put in any fast CB that will likely be laying around then and take out Woolen. Points are: 1. We need to stop the run and push the pocket from the inside - Travis Jones; 2. We need secondary speed desperately - Gordon and Woolen or others; 3. The reason we couldn't run is because of bad line play, not because Singletary is no good (Tyler Smith); we also need a complimentary back (Haskins) and a slot replacement (potentially - thus Philips). 4. Still need more off the edge given the age of what we have (Mafe); 5. If we need another weapon or blocker on offense, we can get them as FAs given potential cap savings here (no need to pay a CB2 and potentially Star/Addison/Hughes gone).
  12. Plus, our ends can never get pressure if the opposing offense is consistently in second and 3 because we can't stop the darn run.
  13. Serious Question: I have not watched Kirk much. Is he better than McKenzie?
  14. DL age at start of season: Obada 30, Star 32; Hughes 34, Addison 35.
  15. I believe the posts that recite "we had the number 1 defense" are, respectfully, misguided. We had major problems stopping the run all year. We have to (and I believe will) sign Harry because he made major progress vs. the run late. Star is not a long-term answer - not available enough, paid too much, getting old. In addition to run problems, many of our games were against incompetent QBs that could not threaten us through the air. And the Chiefs game showed that speed can beat our system and our DBs. You want offense? Don't tie up $10 million in Star and many millions more in a CB 2 (who may have to be a CB 1 until Tre is fully healthy). We need to answer what this year showed about our defense in a couple of ways: Beefy inside dudes that can both stop the run AND collapse the pocket from the inside. Inside push will maximize our numerous picks on DEs and Ed Oliver -- we need to unsettle the QB quickly and flush him to the ends (whomever Bean likes among Mathis, Wyatt, Travis Jones, Jordan Davis, Winfrey) and second, we desperately need speed in the secondary (whomever Beane likes of people like Gordon, McDuffie, McReary etc) that will also allow us to maximize the coverage skills of Tre White and our excellent but ageing safeties. Then worry about offense. Scheme and the professionalism of Levi Wallace let us get by with a CB #1 (Levi) who runs about a 4.7 in the 40. Time ran out on that in the playoffs. Whether we keep Levi or not, I feel we need two fast corners, one early and one late that we can develop (in my draft, Woolen). An excellent Star replacement and a top CB2 on cheap contracts are massive help for the offense. Both in getting the ball back and allowing us the money to get proven talent where needed (Kirk in the slot?)
  16. On Ariaza, PFF has him as the second punter on the board behind some guy named Carmada in Georgia.
  17. Mafe is still projected as a third rounder post Senior Bowl. He looked good in that game, that is why I took him there! Woolen, who knows, you might be right. We got Kyler Gordon, if you think Woolen is gone stick in a random developmental CB with athletic upside.
  18. Love this signing. Siran's a baller. Like the poster above's idea of moving him to safety too
  19. Could be. They were there where I picked 'em on PFF, but maybe they did not adjust for Senior Bowl . Even if the players are different, the simulations made me think move down is key. Not a lot of difference I see in picks 25-40.
  20. And I saw that I had a "notification" that someone commented on one of my old posts. Funny, I remember typing this. Even a blind dog sees it right once in a while: April 2018 So stoked. Feel we got better talent at 7 and 16 than Browns got at 1 & 4. Allen is by all accounts a worker, he has elite arm talent, great running skills and ENORMOUS hands. Lighted up if you had a man crush on another - he is now our man! Lighten We had and have plenty of offense to win. D kept us out of the dance. And we get lots of offense help in this mock - read up on Tyler Smith, Haskins is a horse, read up on Philips - Beasley reprised. Lots of help for an offense that doesn't need lots of help in this draft.
  21. I have run the draft simulator on PFF about 100 times. Sad, I know. So I have concluded we should trade down. Of course, I Trust the Process and Beane is a wizard. So doing my best Beane, here is a shot at a mock that I liked - thoughts? Tyler Smith is listed at tackle, but he is a guard for us in this mock, projected to slide inside: Round 1: Trade down, we get 35 and 67 from Houston for 25 and 127 Round 2 (Pick 35); Kyler Gordon, CB, Wash; Round 2 (Pick 57); Travis Jones, DL, Conn; Round 3 (Pick 67); Tyler Smith, G/T, Tulsa Round 3 (Pick 89); Boye Mafe, Edge, Minn Round 5 (Pick 166) Hassan Haskins, RB, Mich Round 6 (Pick 184) Tariq Woolen, CB, UTSA Round 6 (Pick 202) Kyle Philips, WR, UCLA Round 7 (Pick 242) Matt Ariaza, P, San Diego State I liked this about the best of all the mocks I ran. Fire away!
  22. Watching the Chiefs game, IMHO we need to enhance our speed in the secondary and be able to push the pocket from the inside as well as pressure the edges. I would like either Davis in Rd 1 and the corner they like best in Rd 2, or the corner they like best in Rd 1 and Jones or Devonte Wyatt in Rd 2. Oliver has arrived, sign him and Phillips. Move on from Star when contract is up.
