Agree with the idea that teams will try to fleece Beane. But Beane has a counter - it is a deep draft and I am not punished that much if I wait. I am not pro trade-up, but I am hoping that if he tries Beane is too smart to get fleeced.

Thanks bro, I have done about 10,000 of them. My wife is sick of my drafting. I liked this one 🙂 Meant as a reply to New Era's "this would be a helluva draft"
-
If you had to take one of those two in the first, who do you like? I would take McConkey because I believe in his ability to separate as much as anyone in the draft, but I really like Legette at 28 too. If I were king, I would take McConkey plan for him and Shakir to man the Z and the slot, go defense at 60, and make sure I get Brendan Rice later to be our X with size. Rice should last for a while and we should go up and get him, IMHO. Every review of his game says whatever shortcomings he has, he has immediate acceleration and can take the top off. There is a shortage of big X type receivers after the top 3 (the others I see are Legette who I really like, Mitchell and Franklin, who I worry about, and Walker, who I do NOT like). McConkey, [Defense], Rice, [Defense the rest of the way, save maybe an interior lineman and a very late RB]. Do this and I am thrilled

For those of us liking McConkey (among a couple other wideouts), I liked this 7 round draft with no trades. I would be very, very happy with this. Think these players would be available where I drafted them? 28 Ladd McConkey WR | Georgia A 60 Tyler Nubin S | Minnesota A+ 128 Brenden Rice WR | USC B+ 133 DeWayne Carter DL | Duke A+ 144 Zak Zinter IOL | Michigan A+ 160 Nehemiah Pritchett CB | Auburn A+ 163 McKinnley Jackson DL | Texas A&M B+ 200 Cedric Johnson EDGE | Mississippi A+ 204 Jordan Magee LB | Temple A+ 248 Cody Schrader RB | Missouri A+

I am hoping somebody wants a QB and like someone like Penix or Nix and they are still there. That could give us a good trade down opportunity. I agree with the poster, we need 4 in the top 100, but I think getting to 115 or so for the fourth "top 100" pick could be sufficient. I also think our 2nd for Diggs can more or less be turned into a third this year (might have to add a very late pick to get it done), and that the later draft capital we have could turn 128 into something within 15 of pick 100 without gutting our draft. But I trust Beane - so nice to have a quality GM after decades of subpar team administration.

[POLL] Should The Bills Trade Up For A WR?
MarlinTheMagician replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
My vote FWIW: Mitchell or Legette (or Thomas if he drops) in the first; Trade-up, but in the second, and get McConkey -- Picks 28 and 35 should do it. Won't cost nearly as much going from 60 to 35 as getting one of the big three in the first. -
This is a FANTASTIC trade. Diggs was bottom half as a number 1. We escaped a mountain of future cap consumption for $3 million and got paid a 2nd round pick for our trouble. No more Diggs drama has meaningful value. I appreciate that Diggs helped Josh reach his potential. And he gave us some great moments. I wish him well. But this is fantastic news. We need a top 10 number 1 with size. And someone with legit deep speed. Shakir is same height, weight and 40 time as Diggs. He can play the Diggs role. We need a top X receiver and a slot or a Z. Get McConkey and Legette or some combination like that (AD Mitchell and Malik Washington). We are getting younger by a lot, getting cap space, removing drama and upgrading on the field. Hell yes!

Sources say ZERO PERCENT chance McD is fired
MarlinTheMagician replied to Brand J's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott is a great coach. I am so happy we have him. We are lucky. He is a born leader and he created a positive, winning culture where we used to have a clown car. Perfect? Of course not, what coach is. He is still a young man, he can fix his blind spots and lean into his strengths. -
Josh is effin back. He says so himself.
MarlinTheMagician replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I will say this -- there is not a team in the league about which I feel (as I often did in drought years), "oh crap, there is no way we can beat this team." We can beat anybody if the right team shows up. Eagles game so big - we pull an upset there we go to KC with insane Mojo. -
Mike Norvell - the coach you didn't know you wanted
MarlinTheMagician replied to LeGOATski's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott needs to stay, IMHO. Posted this in another thread - wish everyone felt this way. I hope Pegula does: Man, as a fan since the late 1960s, I don't know how anyone can want McDermott fired. The second half of the sixties, 75% of the seventies, 50% of the 80s and the drought years all stunk to be a Bills fan. McDermott turned that around and made the playoffs every year but one. Josh may be hurt and is playing poorly, and some of the core is getting old, some of it is injured. Coaching change won't help any of that. Time to retool, not scrap the ship. Geez. I appreciate this administration. IMHO, best in the history of the franchise, including Levy/Polian and Saban (the only real contenders I believe). -

A trade is the only way to save the season
MarlinTheMagician replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
Milano is a killer too. Personally, I would rather ride or die with Dorian Williams than watch Dodson. -
Plus, maybe LaPorta is good. Good for him! Doesn't mean our guy is bad or a disappointment. He is neither!

McD much better D coordinator than Frazier
MarlinTheMagician replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think maligning Frazier post hoc is bad juju. He was and is a gentleman who gave it his all. -
Frazier and/or his System hurt player development
MarlinTheMagician replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am glad McDermott is calling the D plays. But Leslie Frazier was, is and will always be one helluva human being dedicated to his players and his craft. Let's not do the after-the-fact blame game and be happy with what we have. -
Kincaid was a brilliant pick by Beane. Exactly what we needed to compliment our #1. I will save this thread - someday Josh helps Kincaid get to the Hall. One of those days I guess - we just beat the undefeated Fish by 28, and everything is possible.
-
I think both Shakir and Sherfield can be counted on. Plus Kincaid. No reason to waste time on Harty, IMHO.
-
The interception was great, but I noticed him being disruptive several times before that. Thought it was a jump ball previously with him and Basham, so I wondered why they kept the guy that was a year older. But he is better and I thought he showed out today beyond just the interception.
-
So funny - I was looking at the thread from when Bernard and Benford were named starters. Everyone was ready to flush Bernard -- wasted pick, he's being forced in because McBeane picked him in the 3rd. What BS. He is a young Milano - very similar games. Speed and instinct. He will grow in bulk like Matt did. Two-headed monster.
-
Bernard, Torrence and Benford all officially starters

Bernard is the freaking man! He is like a young Milano! Two-headed monster!
